But that’s not enough good news. Because even the specified turnover conditions are relatively easy to master. It is sufficient if the bonus money received is used 6 times in sports bets. The minimum odds have been set at an extremely moderate 1.4 and are thus significantly lower than those of many competitors. Unibet has not yet set up a VIP program for its betting customers. However, the numerous bonus promotions for existing customers offer plenty of variety, excitement and the prospect of additional winnings. Unibet offers new deals on a regular basis, so it’s worth taking a look at the “Promotions” menu item every now and then. Of course, you can also keep up to date with the latest bonuses and promotional campaigns via the newsletter.

At the time of my test, Unibet had 9 promotions in its quiver for the sports betting area alone. The variety ranged from free bets and odds boosters to various competitions or raffles for selected sporting events. A “Friends recruit friends” campaign (40 euros bonus per recruited new customer) is also an integral part of the promotions range. However, anyone who values a classic loyalty program will unfortunately come away empty-handed at Unibet.

Betting offer

The betting offer at Unibet is very varied and the selection of sports and events is absolutely successful, both in terms of breadth and depth! In the course of my Unibet test, I counted 30 sports. In addition to the top-selling perennial favorites such as soccer, tennis, basketball and ice hockey, the bookmaker also has numerous fringe sports and a few exotics up its sleeve. These include traditional British sports like rugby (rugby league, rugby union, Australian rules), cricket, darts or snooker, but also sumo, surfing, chess, floorball or futsal.

Impressive betting depth in soccer
The supreme discipline of soccer naturally plays the absolute leading role in the betting program at Unibet. In addition to all the well-known tournaments at international and national level, as well as the important leagues, there are also lesser-regarded championships at the start. Whether the Premier League from Uganda, the U19 Championship from Uruguay or the Emir Cup from Qatar! A seamless offer that, in my experience, covers a total of 45 countries, making Unibet one of the best soccer betting providers around!

The betting depth in soccer is really impressive. In Germany, tips from the Bundesliga to the lower levels of the Oberliga are possible. But beware: It is quite common that especially games from the amateur classes are only included in the sportsbook at short notice – usually about 24 hours before kickoff! Who wants to place his bets early and wants planning security, can get problems here. By the way, the situation is similar in basketball with the BBL, where pairings are also only added at short notice. Games from the top European leagues (Bundesliga, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1) or Champions League that attract media attention are reliably accompanied by 250 to over 300 betting options in the pre-match section. Included are all common options such as 1X2 bets, various goal bets, handicaps, over/under bets, double chance or half-time bets – a complete offer. In addition, the Bet Builder is also available for selection in soccer. With this bet configurator, you can combine up to 12 events (e.g. 1X2, correct score, total goals) for a match to your heart’s content on a bet slip to form a single bet.

Otherwise, the number of betting markets strongly depends on the popularity of the games, leagues or the respective sport. In the regional league, the variety of betting options in the pre-match area ranges from 10 to 20.

US sports strongly represented – long-term bets in abundance
The popular US sports also enjoy a very high profile in the Unibet betting offer. For games from the NFL (American football), NBA (basketball), NHL (ice hockey) or MLB (baseball), 150 to over 200 betting markets – and thus significantly more than the majority of competitors – are not uncommon. E-sports are not neglected at a modern bookie like Unibet either. You can place bets on major events of important, prominent games like Counter Strike, Dota 2 or League of Legends. You can bet on all kinds of political election results, the next Oscar winner, the future James Bond actor or the winners of various reality TV formats. Boredom is guaranteed to be a thing of the past.

The virtual sports betting sector is also not to be sneezed at, and it is also very well filled. You can bet around the clock on the outcome of fictional events in soccer, tennis, basketball, and horse and dog racing, which are of course streamed.

Live bets

As it should be, Unibet has placed the live bets in a separate console. By clicking on the menu item “Live”, you get an overview of all events that are currently taking place or will start soon. These can also be sorted by sport for a better overview. The symbols for this are the corresponding gaming devices (soccer, basketball, puk, etc.), which, however, are by no means always clearly assignable to a sport.

On the other hand, there is little to complain about in the live betting offer. This is based on the lush betting offer from the pre-match segment and is thus very appealing. Actually, there is action around the clock – even at night – in the live console. As usual, the mammoth part goes back to the betting favorites soccer and tennis. Not only in terms of the total number of individual matches, but also the betting markets. But also in ice hockey, basketball and volleyball the available betting options are more than sufficient.

Ample betting options for top events – too few live stats
In soccer, you are offered around 100 betting markets for important events. These include, for example, bets on the next goal, on corner kicks or various types of handicap and over/under bets. In addition, bets can be placed on which event (e.g. throw-in, free kick, corner, etc.) will happen in a certain time interval, even every minute. In addition, the Bet Builder can also be used for real-time bets for top matches in soccer. The cashout function can also be found, but it can only be used for appropriately marked games.

Statistics are welcome to help customers with live betting. However, Unibet does not exactly cover itself with glory in this discipline. The live data is rather rudimentary and is limited to the bare essentials. However, this depends heavily on the game. For matches with greater public interest, Unibet provides you with practical information before kickoff, such as direct comparisons, form tables, and lineups, all of which, however, are only of limited help for live betting. Comprehensive real-time statistics would be more useful here. Unfortunately, Unibet limits itself to the number of shots on goal or corners and the number of (dangerous) attacks.

The current match action, on the other hand, can be tracked using the match tracker. The real-time animation corresponds to common standards and is offered in two sizes. However, the virtual playing field is not a feast for the eyes.

On the other hand, Unibet can boast live streams for selected events. Registered users are spoiled with NFL livestreams, for example, for which the Scandinavian bookmaker naturally earns extra points and has plenty of appeal for all football fans. Especially since the NFL streams are shown for free and no further conditions (e.g. minimum balance) have to be met.

Tennis and soccer (e.g. Japan) are also occasionally broadcast live, although the streams are not always available in Germany due to licensing rights.

Placing live bets is very easy at Unibet and is done within a few seconds. Simply click on the corresponding betting option and the odds, and the virtual betting slip appears at the bottom right of the screen. Enter the bet, click on “Place bet”, and you’re done!

The betting slip is firmly anchored and thus does not slip out of sight even when scrolling, but can be minimized at any time. A very practical and customer-friendly solution. I also did not notice a time delay between placing and accepting the bet.

The odds changes are indicated in the live betting center by green (increasing odds) and red (decreasing odds) arrows, but the arrow symbols are very small and difficult to see. Not optimal!

The odds are important for the Unibet test, as they are crucial for the betting profit. The bookie does not exactly practice restraint when describing its own odds level, as “top odds” are announced in the header of the page or “the best online odds” in the footer. But what can be said about the odds key, which can be used to make statements about the betting provider’s profit margins?

For the test, I picked ten outcome bets from different competitions and sports purely at random and calculated the odds key, also known as the payout key. So I determined the following ten betting odds: 95.00 / 89.90 / 96.00 / 92.01 / 91.73 / 95.40 / 93.88 / 95.12 / 94.08 / 97.00. These result in a bottom line odds key of 94.01%! A very good result, although, as always, the rule of thumb is that the payout ratio is higher for popular events than for games from lesser-regarded leagues. In the Bundesliga, Premier League or Champions League, the odds are particularly good, as they are in the range of 97% and higher.

Of course, I also made a direct comparison of the odds of Unibet and competing betting providers. This shows that Unibet’s odds are in the broad midfield – with outliers up and down. In general, it can be stated that better odds can usually be found for favorite bets with other providers such as 1xbet or bet365. On the other hand, Unibet’s odds for underdog bets are above average and land reliably in the upper range. However, the Scandinavian betting provider very rarely offers best odds.

Betting Features

Unibet has various functions for the betting pleasure at hand. Whether in the pre-match betting or live betting – everywhere you will encounter common and popular bet types. Starting with 1X2, result bets, over/under bets, odd/even bets, head-to-head bets or Draw No Bet up to (Asian) Handicap or Double Chance. Unibet provides all important explanations of the different bet types in German in this PDF document. The popular cashout function, with which you can have your bet paid out before the end of the game, is also available. It helps to limit the loss in case of an impending betting failure and to still save a part of the stake. Or you can play it safe and sell a winning bet before the end of the game. Of course, with Unibet Cashout, you will never receive the winnings that are promised at the time the bet is placed. However, this is common practice and applies to all bookies. This betting function is offered for selected sports for pre-match, live, combined and long-term bets. Whether cashout can be used for a bet is indicated by a green cashout label at the bottom left of the betting slip.

In addition, Unibet has also implemented the aforementioned Bet Builder for important soccer matches since spring 2019. With this bet configurator, up to 12 events of a match can be combined within a single bet.

Deposits to the Unibet betting account are quick and easy to make and absolutely secure! All you need to do is click on “Deposit” in the top right corner. Or you can select “Bank” in your account and then “Deposit”. With the exception of bank transfers (2-3 days waiting time), deposits are credited to your account immediately and are free of charge. Basically, withdrawals at Unibet are only possible via the same way as money was deposited before. An exception is the Paysafecard, with which only deposits are possible.

How to verify the betting account at Unibet
In order to be able to withdraw money from the betting account, it is mandatory that you legitimize yourself at Unibet – within 30 days after account creation. Otherwise, the account will be blocked or can only be used to a limited extent! For the verification, you will find a separate menu item in your customer account under the tab “Account Data” with “Verify”, which will guide you through the KYC process. Very convenient! The following documents are required for your identification check:

Identity card, driver’s license or passport for proof of identity
Utility bill (landline telephone, gas, water, electricity) or insurance documents (e.g. pension insurance) not older than 6 months for proof of address
Digital photo of credit card (front and back, cover CVV digits on back) or corresponding proof of money transfer (e.g. bank statement) with all relevant details for the payment method
Documents can be uploaded directly in the screen, supporting a wide variety of file formats (jpg, jpeg, png, bmp, tiff, doc, docx or pdf.) with a maximum size of 10 MB. Unibet checks the documents within 48 hours, then the verification is usually completed successfully.

Update: However, my experience showed that there are significant differences between theory and practice when it comes to verification at Unibet. For example, the customer service was only satisfied with the identity card during my identity check. I uploaded the front and back of the document directly to my Unibet account. Other documents (utility bill or photo of my credit card) were not requested, contrary to specifications to the contrary. Very pleasant, especially since the entire process went smoothly and without much time.

Small drawback: It took over a week instead of the announced 48 hours until I received the message that my Unibet customer account was legitimized and withdrawals are allowed! However, this was not further disturbing in the weight, but still, other betting portals are faster on the verifications.

Experience with the first deposit
I subjected the deposit process at Unibet to a practical test, where nothing was to complain about. Immediately after opening the account, the available deposit methods are listed. My choice fell on the credit card (Visa). If you don’t exactly want to deposit the preset 20 euros, 50 euros or 100 euros, you have to enter your desired amount of money manually. I opted for 30 euros. After entering the card number, the expiration date of the credit card and the security number, I only had to click on the yellow highlighted field “Deposit”, done! The money was credited directly.

In the bonus free play phase, a 6-fold rollover of the bonus amount is required. In this case, I have to make 600 euros in sports bets within the bonus period of 30 days, each of which must have a minimum odds of 1.40. Only then can withdrawals also be made.

Note about the fees: Unibet processed my deposit free of charge, but Visa debited a fee of 3.90 euros for the transfer. A proud sum!

Update: I successfully cleared the Unibet welcome bonus exclusively by betting on soccer. After fulfilling the rollover requirements, the bonus money was directly converted into withdrawable funds. Afterwards, I had 30 euros paid out via Visa. The money landed in my bank account after three business days, no fees were charged. Everything top, secure and reputable! As you would expect from a major betting provider.

Unibet can impressively convince in this test criterion. This is due to the long history of the online betting provider, which was founded in 1997. Only very few in the industry can hold a candle to Unibet in terms of experience. Doubts are also completely out of place when it comes to security. Full EU data protection is in place, the website is fully SSL-encrypted and sensitive customer data as well as the entire network are protected by an intrusion detection system.

Furthermore, Unibet is dedicated to the topic of responsible gaming to an exemplary degree, which is actually part of good manners in the betting industry. In order to prevent the risk of gambling addiction, extensive information and a voluntary reality check (gambling test) are offered in the customer account under the item “Responsible Gaming” on the one hand, and customers are given various tools for self-restriction on the other. A deposit or loss limit can be set with just a few clicks. In terms of their own gambling control, personally set deposit limits can be defined for 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days. At Unibet, you can enjoy 24/7 support. However, appearances are deceptive and the Unibet test reveals a few weak points. On the one hand, there is no (free) telephone hotline to contact. For this, there is a German-speaking support via live chat, but it is only manned daily from 10:00 to 22:00. Outside of these hours, you have to make do with an international customer service, where communication takes place in English. Otherwise, you can send an e-mail if you have any questions or problems.

I have tested the German live chat extensively and can only praise the friendly, eager and competent staff. My concerns were resolved after a short wait (less than 1 minute) and without any automated responses. Top!

But the way to the live chat is like an odyssey. Because there is no button for this modern and recommendable communication tool on the entire website of Unibet. This should actually be mandatory and clearly visible somewhere on the website – but unfortunately it is not. Instead, the chat function always has to be accessed awkwardly via the help center. This is also true for the mail function. An e-mail address is nowhere to be discovered, just as little as an online contact form. An absolute disaster and anything but customer-friendly!

It is also disappointing that there is no overview page for all contact options and their opening hours and ideally expected response times – as is the case with most bookmakers. The support should definitely be placed more prominently than it is at Unibet. On the other hand, Unibet is represented in social networks like Facebook or Twitter and has a very active community (in English, link in the footer menu of the help center), but this cannot diminish my disappointment.

Strong FAQ, but overall support only satisfactory
On the other hand, there are plus points for the FAQ section. A tip for all sleuths: To be found under “Help”. The FAQ is very neatly developed, well and clearly divided into 9 topic areas (including My Account, Registration, Bonuses and Promotions, Deposits and Withdrawals). The answers are kept in an error-free German as well as short, concise and easy to understand. This shows that Unibet is well aware of the importance of good support. However, a dedicated FAQ link or button on the homepage would be helpful here as well.

In view of the comparatively many shortcomings, I cannot rate Unibet’s service and support better than “satisfactory”. While the friendly, knowledgeable staff is worth a lot, there is still plenty of room for optimization in other places!

Betting tax is deducted from the winnings
When it comes to betting tax, Unibet proves to be quite transparent. At the bottom of the betting slip, there is a corresponding note for German customers that 5% of the possible winnings will be withheld in the event of a payout (i.e. a winning bet). The mere placing of a bet, on the other hand, is not taxed.

The following example illustrates the tax regulation: If you win a bet at Unibet with odds of 2.0 and a stake of 10 euros, you will receive a payout of 19 euros instead of 20 euros. Functions & Design

The Unibet homepage has a practical, modern and equally simple design. With the exception of the homepage, there are no XXL graphics or large advertising banners, and the focus is clearly on betting. In terms of color, the appearance is dominated by green, the corporate color of Unibet – but only in the header area of the page.

Otherwise, the background is light gray, on which the dark gray menu in the left column and the green highlight boxes for the sports and odds (optionally in decimal, fractional or American) create a pleasant contrast. There is excellent readability of the content, all of which is in impeccable German. A language selection is not possible on the German Unibet site (unibet.de), but it is also not necessary. Instead, the international version of Unibet (unibet.com) is available in around 20 languages.

The structure is also successful. You can choose from all the important offers at the very top of the header area, where the sign-up or registration button is also located flush to the right.

In the sports betting area, all sports are listed in the left column under a box with the favorites (e.g. Bundesliga, Premier League, NHL, NFL) along with the number of betting markets. The listing is alphabetical, which takes some getting used to. Important disciplines such as soccer and tennis are located quite far down in the menu tree, even behind betting exotics such as baseball, beach soccer, curling or floorball. It would be better if King Soccer was positioned in the first place.

The alphabetical sorting by country in the large betting area, which is placed in the middle and appears when a sport is selected, is particularly negative. You have to scroll down and search until the popular soccer leagues from Germany, England, Italy or Spain appear.

In order to reach your goal faster in the rich betting offer, it is recommended to click on the above category “All soccer”. Here, the top 5 leagues jump directly into your eye. Otherwise, the well-done search function can be used. In return, Unibet draws attention to current and upcoming highlights very well at the top in the center of the screen.

Overall, the site, which is anything but cluttered, is easy to use, although the navigation could be a bit more customer-friendly.

Very tidy betting area – Match Insights a successful extra
After selecting a sports event, a standard 3-column structure appears. On the left, there is still the menu with all sports, in the middle, all available betting options are sorted by different categories and can be seen with corresponding odds. This important area looks very tidy. The “Match Insights” are a special feature. Unibet provides you here with very interesting statistics and series about players and team. The bet matching each fact is suggested right away!

The right column contains important information about the selected event, including practical statistics and open bets. The betting slip always comes up at the bottom right of the screen for quick and easy betting, and remains permanently in view, but can also be minimized if desired.

On the whole, Unibet scores with a simply structured, well-functioning website that loads all content quickly.

Since October 15, 2020, the sports betting provider Unibet has stopped offering casino and / or poker. Responsible for this are the preparations for obtaining the German gambling license, which does not allow the sports betting provider to be associated with casino games or poker.

Unibet T&C – What happens if a soccer match is abandoned?
There can be several reasons why a soccer match is abandoned. The referee is the only one on the spot who can decide that a match is cancelled or interrupted. One of the occasions for a match to be abandoned can be a sudden change in the weather. For example, it may be a downpour that puts the entire pitch under water. Violent fans also contribute to interruptions and abandonments at soccer matches. Their thoughtless actions can lead to the endangerment of all participants in the stadium, fines for the club and ghost matches.

If 4 players of one team have received a red card during the match, the match must be stopped by the referee according to the soccer rules. Let’s remember the world record of red cards. Once specified changes are made, it cannot result in the bet being voided. This includes, for example, a change of the match venue from indoors to outdoors and vice versa. Changing the surface before and during the match will not contribute to the cancellation of your bet.

Can an already placed bet at Unibet be cancelled or changed?

Unibet – extra time not included
Again, bets for soccer matches are settled on the basis of regular playing time (2 x 45 minutes). The extra time of the match is included in the total duration. Excluded from this are extra time and penalty shootouts. These are not part of the regular playing time.
