Rainbow6 Operator-VALKYRIE

SPECIAL ABILITIES AND PLAY STYLE

Encased in a blacked-out silicone ball and covered in micro-suction cups, the quickly placed camera maintains a clear view thanks to an internal gyroscope that controls the viewing angle of the lens. Thus, the camera is able to rotate in any direction while the gyroscope allows stable image transmission. The live video feed is available to all operators.

Oceanside, California

BACKGROUND

“If you don’t feel like you’re being watched all the time, you’re not paying attention.”

Castellano was born and raised in the surfing community par excellence, Oceanside, California. Her father was a distinguished colonel in the Marine Corps, and her mother was a researcher at a nearby biotech company. Already at a young age, she showed top performances in mathematics and in the natural sciences, and she also turned out to be an exceptional athletic talent. Castellano was an Olympic hopeful, but a car accident that broke her arm at 16 put an end to her career. She realigned her life, joined the Navy and attended university at the same time. After earning a computer science degree with a focus on security and cryptography, she was posted to the Information Dominance Corps. Thanks to her attention to detail and her analytical skills, Castellano was one of the most sought-after specialists. She applied to the SEALS when it was decided to include women in the unit. After several grueling years, she found success that encouraged others to do the same.

PSYCHOLOGICAL REPORT

When I first met Specialist Meghan “Valkyrie” Castellano, she struck me as a person who ticked all the boxes — meeting or exceeding expectations. She looked impeccable. However, when I read the mission reports, I see an aggressive person willing to do anything to complete the mission. I am interested in this contrast.

Castellano’s understanding of her role is more complicated than her first polite reply might suggest. Even though we’ve raised the bar for her and she’s enjoying the challenge, I can see that she’s struggling with something. Castellano is not used to being surrounded by so many top performers. She was always at the top of her class – and a person of trust. The only other time she felt like she had “her back against the wall,” as she put it, was during SEAL training. Normally, I’d encourage her to hook up with someone who understands what she’s been going through – another SEAL like Specialist Craig “Blackbeard” Jenson. However, I do know that during their “Hell Week” he was one of their instructors. She respects him, but I don’t detect any particular affection.

Inspired by Specialist Elena María “Mira” Álvarez, Elena Castellano is currently doing her helicopter pilot’s license. She also takes language classes to emulate Special Operations Forces Yumiko “Hibana” Imagawa and Miles “Castle” Campbell. The intimidation she feels at being surrounded by other exceptional minds leads to undue pressure. Continuing education is a good thing if the motivation for it is good. Castellano is already a valuable operator, despite rising tensions with Specialist Taina “Caveira” Pereira over the incident in Bolivia. I want Castellano to have a healthier perspective on what it means to be part of a team.

Outside of her assignments, Castellano does not travel. She spends her holidays at home, on the beach and the sea. This secluded lifestyle doesn’t seem to be her natural state of being, however. The intense pressure she’s putting herself under needs some sort of… support. She no longer flies the flag for the female operators alone and must accept the support of her comrades. I’m sure this will help her find her balance. It will take some convincing. But we have time.

WOLFGUARD

“To serve is why so many of us are committed to what we do.” – Doc

Wolfguard is designated as the world’s leading humanitarian military unit and is known for its compassionate and prudent approach. It excels in high-visibility operations that take place in close proximity to civilians and where collateral damage must be avoided at all costs. Most of its members are trained in field medicine and specialized in some type of protection.

Special operations officer Gustave “Doc” Kateb leads this squad. He is on good terms with his subordinates and has an impeccable image with governments and the press. Although he and the rest of the Wolfguard were brought together to use their skills in delicate missions for the good of all, their popularity cannot be overlooked. It will always play a role in their missions.
