Team Information :
Keen Gaming is an organization that emerged from the spin-off of EHOME. For a while the organization achieved good results both locally and internationally, but was later disbanded.
We bring you the history of the organization and the Keen Gaming tag.
First impression
Actually, Keen Gaming started back in 2015 under the umbrella of EHOME. Interested. The division itself existed for 3 years – from 2015 to 2017.
In 2017, the players decided to leave EHOME and create their own organization, which became Keen Gaming. The first lineup includes all former EHOME.Keen players:
- Zhizhizhi
- 荧
- dark
- 佞臣
- rong
The first test for the newly formed team was their performance at the Chinese finals of WESG 2017, where the young organization did quite well, finishing in 3rd place.
Later, Keen Gaming made it to the big ESL One Hamburg Championship. At the tournament itself, the club finished in 5th-6th place, which can also be considered a good result.
However, Keen’s good performance at the beginning of the tournament could not save Keen from the lineup changes that started at the beginning of 2018.
The time of reshuffles and attempts to gain a foothold at the top
In January 2018, Zhizhizhi was the first to leave Rong, and a little later. Their places are taken by Mrs. and Yoona.
Keen will play with the new team until the end of February. The most successful results in this period can be mentioned as the 2nd place in the APAC Finals 2017 of WESG and the victory in the qualification for the Dota 2 Asia Championship.
Old Chicken joins the team in February. Keen participates in the 2018 Dota 2 Asia Championship with the new player, where they finish a poor 15th-16th. After such a failure, the regular replacements begin: old chicken returns to EHOME, and Keen Gaming is joined by Mevius, who replaces Frau.
After the next changes in the team, Keen finished 2nd in GESC: Thailand Dota2 Minor. Such a result should inspire the team with confidence in their abilities. However, the team shows a poor result in the qualification for The International 2018, where they finish 5th-8th.
After missing out on the TI, Keen finishes 3rd in the MPGL Asian Championship and 2nd in the JJB Cup – The China Hope Series. However, the prizes in such insignificant tournaments did not help to keep the squad.
Mevius leaves the team in August, followed by a major reshuffle in September. The team is supported by sss, eLeVeN and Kaka. But in October, the team changes again with eLeVeN taking a short vacation and Old Chicken taking his place. The recently arrived SSS also leaves the team. Erica and Fyms also join the team.
At the end of 2018, Keen Gaming was able to “improve” its results slightly. In December, the team won two minor championships: China Hope Series – No. 2 and H Cup – Season 12. The team entered the new – Season with renewed vigor
– Season 2019
2019 started for Keen Gaming with a third place finish in Bucharest Minor. Later, Keen won the JJB Spring Cup – Season 1 and finished as the winner of the 2018 World Electronic Sports Games.
In March 2019, Keen Gaming participated in the first major tournament in the history of the organization. It was the 11th – Season of DreamLeague and the team itself finished 5th-6th there.
The biggest victory in the history of the organization followed in April. Keen took the first place at ESL One Mumbai 2019, defeating Mineski in the final. However, Keen Gaming failed to repeat that success at the upcoming MDL Disneyland Paris Major, finishing 9th-12th.
A series of underwhelming performances followed, ending with 13th-16th place finishes at The International 2019.
Obviously, the failure at the most important event of the year contributed to the lineup changes. In September, Mushi joined the team, as did Kamma and天命. In turn, Kaka, Old Chicken and eLeVen left the team. However, the squad updates did not help improve results.
At the end of 2019, Keen had a losing streak in rather unremarkable tournaments. The best result was winning the 2019 World Electronic Sports Games China – Northern Circuit.
2020 and Sunset Keen
The beginning of 2020 saw more changes in Keen’s squad. In January, coach LaNm left the team and was replaced by 71.
The first months of 2020 can hardly be called successful for Keen: The team finished 7th in the first – Season of the China Dota2 Professional League, failed to qualify for the ESL One Los Angeles 2020 China Closed Qualifier, and finished 3rd place Minor – Season 3 in the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 qualifiers….
In April, the club tried to rebuild the Dota 2 squad. The new squad includes: Erica, Blood, Xiaofu, Yds, and Fantasy. However, the squad was not designed to achieve great success.
The renewed squad finished 9th in the CDA League – Season 1 and 7th-8th in the OGA Dota PIT – Season 1: China. This was followed by 2nd place at the Asia Spring Invitational and 8th place at the China Dota2 Professional League – Season 2. The final tournament for the team was the DPL CDA Professional League – Season 1, where the team finished 8th.
In May 2020, Keen Gaming announced the dissolution of the squad and withdrew from Dota competition.
Organization and awards
During its existence, the organization collaborated with AKPLAYER, and TheOne was the leader of the club.
Since its inception, the organization has won over $1,200,000 in prize money through Dota 2 rosters.
Dota 2
Dota 2 is a multiplayer online battle arena title from Valve. The successor to the extremely popular Warcraft 3 modification DotA (Defense of the Ancients), Dota 2 was the company’s first strategy game and was released on the download platform Steam on July 9, 2013. The game is a free-to-play title that can be played completely free of charge and is financed through in-game microtransactions, similar to Team Fortress 2.
Dota 2 is – unlike other big MOBA titles like League of Legends – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased. Just like in Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2, it is possible to create your own content via the Steam Workshop.
