Biography

Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye is a Danish counter-strike player who has retired from the professional CS arena. During his seven-year career, he played for such famous teams from Denmark as Team Dignitas, Copenhagen Wolves, Astralis and North, and the only international team FaZe Clan. However, Kjærbye retired from esports in 2021, citing motivation issues.

Kjaerbye got into esports playing in semi-professional teams like Isak-eSport, my Revenge and NO SIR !, where he showed stable and good play. Thanks to this, he got to Copenhagen Wolves. The invitation to this team provided Markus’ career with a new level. From here, in 2015, he moved to Team Dignitas, with which he won at DreamHack European Minor Tours 2016. After that, Dane’s excellent play allowed him to be in the top club Astralis.

Here was the brightest part of his esports career. With the new team, Chiebu won ELEAGUE Major: Atlanta 2017 and Esports Championship Series – Season 2 and became the finalist of ELEAGUE – Season 2 and fought for the ELEAGUE CS: GO Premier 2017 championship to the last.

However, after another key player of the Swedish team took a break from his career for health reasons, in early 2018, Markus moved to the North camp.

In 2020, the player went under the banner of FaZe Clan, his only international team. In 2021, he joined HYENAS, the core of which were former counter strikers from the North. For Kjaerbye, HYENAS has become the last professional team. Kjærbye left esports on June 30, 2021.

Personal life
For Kjaerbye, became the main thing in his life for many years. The player himself even dropped out of school to become the first in CS: GO. Although Marcus has retired from esports, he is in his early twenties and has his whole life ahead of him. The funds accumulated over several years allow him to focus on communicating with family and friends. And in the future, he plans to become a streamer or coach.

CS:GO Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO for short) is a computer game from the genre of online tactical shooters. It was developed by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment and is the fourth part of the Counter-Strike series. The game was released on August 21, 2012 for Windows, Linux, macOS, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A release for the PlayStation 3 in Europe failed to materialize for unknown reasons. Global Offensive achieved a Metascore of 83 points. Since September 14, 2017, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has also been available in China via the Perfect World client. In December 2018, the game was switched to a free-to-play model, which drew criticism.
