In WoW: Burning Crusade Classic, players use engineer battle chickens to target the stackable tempo buff for enormous damage. The Community Council is discussing with Blizzard whether a change would be appropriate.
Even in WoW Classic, the Engineer’s Battle Chickens were a nice way to noticeably increase the damage of a melee squad in a boss fight. Five percent more attack speed through the buff Battlecrows, which also lasts for five minutes, are just good. The only drawback of the thing: You never know exactly when or if the chicken will crow before it dies. Do you?

In Burning Crusade Classic, players have now figured out how to Battle Crows Can specifically trigger the buff to stack five times on all party members. 25 percent more attack speed … whew … even the original version of the tempo drums looks old in comparison -. and this one was toned down by Blizzard.
And indeed, using the chickens in the entire group has become part of the “min-maxers” of Outland, using the powerful buff to improve their own logs and kill times. Two unpleasant side effects: 1) the other players in the raid have to wait until the buffs are stacked, and 2) the Battlecrawler often doesn’t show up correctly in the logs, so it’s hard to filter out players who specifically rely on this strategy.
Community Council Topic
Community Council member Sixxfury recently posted the topic. brought to the forumto talk with Blizzard about the problem and possible solutions. In fact, there’s already a comprehensive response from Aggrend. Here are the most important findings:
- There was already a hotfix for the fighting chickens, which made sure that Battle chickens is no longer saved when players log out. That way it would have been possible to accumulate dozens of stacks of the buff and do much, MUCH more damage.
- They had also thought about making it generally impossible for this buff to stack. But the developers are reluctant to implement such restrictive changes. It was therefore decided to let the hotfix take effect for now, then re-evaluate the situation and make further adjustments if needed.
- The developers also find it hard to compare the battle chickens with the drums. With the drums, all you have to do is press a button and then the job is done. However, to get the most out of the chickens, players have to invest a lot more, especially if they want to have multiple stacks.
- By the way, even back then there were isolated guilds that used the battle chickens in this way. So it’s definitely an authentic interaction.
- That Slaughter crows is not displayed correctly in the logs, this is a point that the developers will look at. But then this is a topic for after the Christmas vacation.
