In some parallel universe, there was probably a BlizzCon last weekend, where Blizzard developers presented new info on WoW patch 9.2, a teaser for the next WoW expansion, and confirmation of Wrath of the Lich King Classic. Meanwhile, there’s no BlizzCon in our universe, and no, unfortunately, it will not be held in February 2022.. So we have to take what we can get: alleged leaks that circulate through the net.
Just such a supposed leak has been doing the rounds for a few hours now. And yes, it wants to cover the full WoW lineup:
We take a look at the details of 9.2, WotLK Classic and Awakenings in turn.
WoW Patch 9.2: Fate of Eternity
According to the leak, the first content patch in what feels like eons will be released in spring 2022, will be called Fate of Eternity and will offer the following features:
- The new world Zereth Mortis
- The new PvE challenge “Trials of the First Ones”.
- New dungeon and raid
- Allied factions
- and more …
Already months ago, players speculated that patch 9.2 could take us to Zereth Mortis, because a conversation in Korthia from the 9.1 campaign revolves around exactly this place, and the “First Ones” are supposed to rule there, which also fits the leak. And also to the cross-faction gameplay, Hazzikostas had also recently spoken quite positively about it.
Wrath of the Lich King Classic
Surely all Classic fans are already firmly expecting a release of WotLK Classic, even though there has been no official announcement yet. WoW (buy now ) Classic and TBC Classic were and are simply too successful to let the re-release of the most popular WoW expansion slip through their fingers. Included, of course:
- Northrend
- Death Knight
- Epigraphy
- New raids, dungeons, factions
- Thousand Winter
- Beach of the Ancients and Island of Conquest
- and much more
The WotLK re-release is scheduled to launch in the fall of 2022, which would mean that Blizzard will push out the upcoming TBC Classic phases by summer 2022 at the latest.
WoW: Awakenings – the new expansion
The new expansion is currently in development (which is certainly true) and, according to the leak, does not yet have a targeted release date. The features:
- The return to another Azeroth
- New class: the mechanic
- New system: “Hero Stance
- Build and customize your own airship
- a rebuilt craft system
- and much more
This sounds a bit like Cataclysm 2.0, with a retread of the currently familiar Azeroth, a second housing attempt, and the oft-requested Tinker class. However, there was a leak back in 2019 that brought an Awakenings expansion to the game. Only time will tell if the new leak just rehashes the information or if there was already something to the rumors back then.
