Two veterans say goodbye after eleven years

Two more veterans have announced they are leaving Respawn Entertainment’s “” developers. Chad and McCord have announced their departures.

Respawn Entertainment once again has to cope with a notable departure. This time Chad Grenier has announced that he has left the development studio behind “Titanfall”, “Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order” and “Apex Legends” together with Jason McCord. Both developers were primarily responsible for the Battle Royale shooter.

A crazy full of successes

Grenier was the game director behind “Apex Legends” and one of the founding members of Respawn Entertainment. McCord, in turn, was involved in the game as design director.

In a blog post, Grenier stressed that the past 11 years at Respawn Entertainment have been an “unforgettable journey” and that this “crazy chapter” is now coming to an end. Moreover, he reassures players that “Apex Legends” will continue to be in great hands. Moreover, he believes that his now former colleagues will take care of both the game and the community, as content is already planned for the next few years.

In the future, Steven Ferreira will be responsible for “Apex Legends” as game director. He had already joined the developers in June 2019 and has been leading half of the team since then. Further, Grenier wrote:

“At Respawn, we’ve always believed that new leadership and new team members mean new ideas, new energy, and new innovation. This could not be a more accurate statement to describe Steven’s many involvements over the years. Even though I’m leaving Respawn, it’s important to let you know how much everyone at the studio and myself value the fans as well as this passionate community. Without you guys, this whole process of creating games just wouldn’t work. And we’ve accomplished some extraordinary things together; from integrating fan art into the game to seeing the community bring Apex Legends stories to life on Twitter. It’s been an absolute joy to watch the game and the community grow.”

Finally, McCord has also said a few words about his departure. Thus he wrote via Twitter: “It’s hard to leave a game and a team that you love. But it’s time to do something new. I don’t have any plans yet and I’m going to wander the earth for a while and recharge my batteries. Stay excited!”

One can be curious where it will lead the two veterans. In any case, we wish them all the best on their further journey.
