SLNT : Will the underdog story be successful?

SLNT is back with a team. The strategy is new, the faces at the top old familiar. What is the goal of the comeback? We have asked.

SILENTGAMING is back. However, in the course of time some letters were lost and after rebranding the organization is now known only as SLNT. Shortly after the announcement in December, the head office of SLNT stopped by our stream to introduce the new project. Now a few months have passed and a lot has come out of the vague announcement.

It’s now clear: SLNT is returning to the Swiss circuit with a CS:GO team. The return also includes a new focus: storytelling. For this, they are specifically focusing on CS:GO young talents and not on an established top team. Their rise in Swiss eSports is to be the focus of the new journey. “It was important to us to take on a team that is rather young in terms of experience level and to support them with all the means at our disposal. The character of the individual players is our main concern and so far we are very satisfied with how the team is doing and developing,” said SLNT Vice President Remo Blaser at the request of eSports.ch.

New under the Ninja flag since February are Mafii, Nnirmo, SKYTobi, SIXAER and Green. The latter hasn’t been seen that often in CS:GO tournaments, as Green was a player not long ago.

Content, Content, Content

Recently the – Season started with the ESL National Championship for the guys. After 4 matches they have to rank on the second last place of the table at the moment. At the end of March the second starts for which SLNT could qualify, the Hero League. With both leagues there will be some opportunities for the team to produce content.

Blaser: “We want to expose more of ourselves, aim for higher quality as well as quantity in content, and above all focus on everyone having fun with the project. This has already been demonstrated in the first few weeks.” SLNT also aims to become a brand that not only members, but players and fans can identify with. “The team plays the most important factor here. Without the players, we can’t generate all this content. In this, we are enormously proud of the commitment of each individual so far.”

The first signs of this are the high-quality videos produced for the announcement of the relaunch, as well as the CS:GO team.

Since then it has been a little quieter again, but the – Season has only just begun and, as we all know, stories have to be written before they can be told.

However, it should follow, because with Google Cloud and ProCloud, you already have two sponsors on board at the start, who certainly have requirements, don’t they?

“We are very open about the reach of SLNT and actually rarely promise a huge audience. That would be unrealistic. But probably it’s about integrating the brands into a great scene, showing that both ProCloud and Google Cloud DACH are eSports fans and live it.”

Open to the future

With CS:GO, the Ninjas are returning to the competitive business. However, Remo Blaser does not rule out the possibility of being active in other games in the future. “However, it is important to us that we can use our resources in a targeted manner. It makes things a lot easier if only one team has to be “managed”. If we were to take on another team, then we would want to offer the same quality for that team as well.” Resources would then have to be virtually doubled.

To even consider the possibility of a second team, SLNT must now first prove what they can offer with a roster. The foundations are laid, now the content has to follow. Otherwise, ex-SILENTGAMING could soon say goodbye to the scene again, with the same problem that they had openly stated at the end of the first half: there was a lack of content.

It also remains an open question whether SLNT will be able to continue its old competitive importance, or whether we will have to keep looking for the “new SILENTGAMING”. A seventh place in the ESL National Championship is definitely not enough. But the – Season has just started and maybe it’s the starting position that is necessary for a good underdog story.
