Platform: Where will Call of Duty Vanguard be released?

Call of Duty 2021 appears via Battle.net for the PC as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S. Activision said in an investor call that the game is “built for next-gen,” but at the same time announced that it will also be released for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. On all platforms, the game is expected to run smoothly at 60 frames per second.

Download: How big is Call of Duty Vanguard?

Packed hard drives can breathe a sigh of relief: CoD Vanguard turns out to be significantly smaller compared to its predecessors. The smallest possible package only contains multiplayer and zombies and is 36 GB in size. Including the campaign it grows to 61 GB.

If you want high-resolution textures, then it will cost you about twice as much storage space, the largest package (i.e. with all game modes and High-Resolution) is 125 GB. This is still much more compact than Modern Warfare or Cold War.

Preload is available for pre-orderers on PC since November 2, 2021.

Pay model: what about DLCs, Battle Pass and – Season s?

With 2019’s CoD: Modern Warfare, the publisher switched to a strategy around free add-on content like new maps and weapons. In addition, there are regular new – Season s with Battle Pass for cosmetic items make their way into the franchise. Each – Season lasts about eight weeks and brings a new Battle Pass to earn.

Studio: Who is developing Call of Duty Vanguard?

Call of Duty has three developers rotating through under publisher Activision’s mantle: Infinity Ward (Modern Warfare), Treyarch (Black Ops) and Sledgehammer Games (WW2). The studios are competing with each other, so to speak, to see who gets the next nod. This time the studio Sledgehammer Games made the race and is developing CoD 2021, so known insiders were right with their leaks.

Sledgehammer would have actually been in the running for 2020, but then helped develop Black Ops: Cold War under Treyarch. The last CoD from Sledgehammer was WW2, which came out in 2017. The studio was also responsible for Advanced Warfare.

Teamwork: The development teams at Raven Software (Cold War, Warzone) and Treyarch (Cold War, Zombies) also… help with Vanguard. Treyarch is said to be responsible for the zombie mode, Raven will continue to work primarily on Warzone.

Campaign, multiplayer, co-op: What content does CoD 2021 have?

CoD 2021 contains the usual modes, ie. Solo campaign, multiplayer and co-op mode (zombies). There will also be deep integration with CoD Warzone once again, more on that here:

Setting: Where and when is CoD 2021 set?

With CoD Vanguard, we can expect a return to World War II, which was the setting of Sledgehammer’s last CoD.

Days before the Reveal, an official teaser, which the British Youtuber Jon got from the developers, showed the Western Front of World War 2. In the meantime, there are many videos in circulation, including official ones, showing the Western and Eastern Fronts, the Pacific, and North Africa as locations.
