In line with the new, active event in Pokémon Go – the Egg Spectacular 2019 – there’s a new filling for Special Box, Super Box, Hyperbox and Adventure Box. Which one is aimed at which type of trainer with its orientation, we reveal to you. Spoiler: Unsurprisingly, a lot of content revolves around hatching eggs.
In Pokémon Go, the developers at Niantic recently activated the Egg Spectacular 2019 in the evening hours of April 16, 2019, which lures you in front of the door with shortened hatching distances and double the amount of eggs. Accordingly, those responsible have also given the Special Box, Super Box, Hyperbox and Adventure Box in the Pokémon Go store a new content, which is unsurprisingly aimed by usefulness at those among the trainers who want to get the most out of the event. However, there’s also a surprise! But before we get into the detailed analysis, let’s take a look at the boxes and the contents. As usual, we note in the brackets behind the items how the amount has changed compared to the last sale.
Box | Special Box | Super box | Hyper box | Adventure Box |
Price | 480 Pokécoins | 780 Pokécoins | 1,480 Pokécoins | 1,480 Pokécoins |
Contents | 1 x Super Brood (+1) | 2 x Premium Raid Pass (-2) | 15 x Premium Raid Pass (+5) | 14 x Super Brood (+3) |
1 x Lucky Egg (+1) | 4 x Super Hatchery (+1) | 7 x Super Hatchery (-3) | 3 x Egg Hatchery (-1)
3 x egg incubator (+0) | 5 x lucky egg (+1) | 4 x lucky egg (+4) | 4 x lucky egg (+4)
4 x Star Piece (+0) | 4 x Star Piece (+0) |
Interestingly, this time the special box does not belong to the category “one size fits all starters”, because this time, completely focused on the egg spectacle, only lucky eggs and incubators are included in the mini-pack. This makes it quite attractive for those of you who want to buy some hatching machines for little coins. By the way: We’ll list the effects of the shortened hatching distances during the egg spectacle in a table for you after the box analysis. You’ll save a solid 170 Pokécoins with the special box compared to buying the hatchers individually. That’s nothing compared to buying the Adventure Box, but it’s just for the trainer on a budget.
The Super Box actually provides the least amount of savings in terms of Premium Raid Passes and Hatcheries. The four Super Hatcheries cost 800 Poké Coins to buy individually, and the two Raid Passes cost 200 – that’s just 220 coins saved. This makes the box the least attractive, even though it offers a bit more for the money – namely Raid Passes. However, you could just as easily buy a special box and two Raid Passes individually for 680 Pokécoins. After all, that doesn’t change anything in terms of the sheer amount of hatching machines. And with the bonus on the length (or rather shortness) of the routes for the eggs active during the egg spectacle, it almost doesn’t matter whether you have egg incubators or super incubators. That’s why we advise you: Hands off the Superbox.
The Hyperbox is the real surprise at the Egg Spectacular Sale, as it’s filled with a whopping 15 Premium Raid Passes, which alone make up for an investment (15 x 100 Pokécoins in a single Raid Pass purchase is more expensive than 1,480 coins for the Hyperbox). The Hyperbox is the first port of call for Raid fans among trainers anyway… after all, Latios still wants to be Raided at the moment! The number of super brood machines in the Hyperbox has decreased compared to the last sale and overall you are a bit worse off in terms of price-performance ratio. But the value of Raid Passes and Super Brood Machines (1,500 + 1,400 for just 1,480 Poké Coins) cannot be dismissed. On top of that, Star Pieces and Lucky Eggs, cleverly used when hatching, will get you quite a bit more.
The pure breeders among the Pokémon Go fans of you will certainly reach for the adventure box, which offers a total of 17 breeding machines. The value has increased compared to the last sale, since one egg hatcher has been removed, but three super hatchers have been added. This saves you over 1,600 Pokécoins compared to buying them individually. But as you can see: only breeders get their money’s worth. If you have the Pokécoins left over, and also want to raid some Giratina (Original Form) and Latios, you’d better go for the Hyperbox. This Shiny Latios has to be caught at some point!
Eggs | Hatchery distance | Super Hatchery distance |
2km | 1 kilometer | 0.67 kilometer |
5km | 2.5 kilometers | 1.67 kilometers |
7km | 3.5 kilometers | 2.33 kilometers |
10km | 5 kilometers | 3.33 kilometers |
Here we have again the actual distances you need for hatching eggs.
Pokémon GO
Pokémon Go is the mobile spin-off of Nintendo’s popular Pokémon game series for Android and iOS. It is a so-called “location-based game”, i.e. a game that uses the player’s immediate surroundings. It is based on the principle of augmented reality.
Pokémon Map: Between landmarks and sights
Pokémon Go uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to determine the player’s location and displays it on a map that also represents the playing field. The map is based on OpenStreetMap maps. The game is played mostly outdoors and uses landmarks, landmarks and other notable or eye-catching objects in the world to position either PokéStops or arenas there for you to battle for supremacy. Join either Team Intuition (Team Yellow, Zapdos), Team Wisdom (Team Blue, Arktos), or Team Daring (Team Red, Lavados). Under their flag you can then fight for the arenas, which are placed at hotspots like churches or similar. Pokémon can appear anywhere, though.
Pocket monsters visible on the Pokémon Go Map are randomly loaded into the game’s virtual map by the game server. If several players are playing in the same location, each player can see and catch the Pokémon independently of the others.
Pokémon Go Updates, News, Raids and More
The developers at Niantic regularly provide Pokémon Go with new updates or special raids that should only be tackled in a group of several people. The Pokémon Go Raids are therefore very popular, as they also offer the prospect of particularly rare Pokémon. For example, in the past, legendary Pokémon could always be caught on special occasions (Pokémon Go events). For particularly eager mobile or smartphone Pokémon trainers, there is also an external IV calculator, such as the online tool from Pokemon.gameinfo.io or on Pokefans.net, to check the values of your Pokémon.
