An insider leaks the map for Warzone 2, but the rumor is causing divided opinion among fans. Not everyone likes the Colombia setting.
Medellin, Colombia – Warzone continues to be celebrated by its fans worldwide. The Call of Duty Battle Royale is said to have already had more than 100 million players since its release in 2020. Recently, a big surprise followed: publisher Activision announced Warzone 2. The successor could still celebrate its release in 2022. The first details are also already known. A normally well-informed insider revealed the design of Warzone 2’s new map.

Warzone 2: Map surfaced in extensive leak – release probably still 2022
What was leaked? The release of Warzone 2 was leaked earlier this year. The game could still be released in 2022. However, according to insider Tom Henderson, a release is more likely in 2023. The Leaker TheGhostofHope announced with a tweet now that he already knows part of the game. A Warzone 2 map is said to be “massively inspired by the city of Medellin in Colombia.” The image tweeted in addition certainly makes the hearts of Battle Royale fans beat faster.
Medellin is still considered the drug capital of the world. Not least because the legendary drug lord Pablo Escobar also ran some of his operations from the city of millions in northern Colombia in the 1970s. Today, around 2.5 million people live in Medellin. So the metropolis certainly has potential as a setting and map for Warzone 2.
What is Warzone 2 about? This isn’t the first time TheGhostofHope has attracted attention with possible leaks. Already in 2021 he tweeted information regarding Call of Duty 2022, which is supposed to be called “Project Cortez”. The focus of the game is probably on the fight against Colombian drug cartels. It is quite likely that Warzone 2 will also be based on this theme. However, we are still waiting in vain for news from Activision or Infinity Ward.
Warzone 2 map leak – gamers are split opinions
What do gamers have to say about it? Warzone fans and Call of Duty gamers aren’t always so easy to get excited about. However, the release of – Season 3 in Warzone certainly resonated with the loyal gamer community. Among other things, Operation Monarch is released in Warzone in – Season 3, in which Godzilla fights King Kong. Twitter users also reacted to the new alleged leak in Warzone 2 with mixed opinions. “Camping Paradise” wrote Trexcision, “RIP, big fat L” Lux added to that.

But there were also positive voices: “So more uphill battles, cool” said Kevin Stith, many others liked the favela vibe the photo gives off. The multiplayer map is one of the most popular maps in Modern Warfare 2, and many gamers would also celebrate a colorful map like the one in the photo in Warzone 2, writing sarcastically, “Can’t be. The picture has color. Impossible.” Whether there’s any truth to the rumors, Activision will hopefully clear up soon.
