When will the game be released? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28, 2022, the developers officially announced.

What was unusual, however, was the nature of the reveal: instead of a typical gameplay or cinematic trialer, they sent a giant cargo ship into the port of Long Beach and filmed the whole thing. Several graphics had been placed on the ship, some on the containers it was carrying. The crazy action including the release date was then shown by the Call of Duty team in a video:

What to see: In the video you can see several familiar faces as well as a new one. These are 5 operators who will probably take the main roles in the new CoD: Modern Warfare 2.

The “Task Force 141” consists of:

• Simon “Ghost” Riley
• Captain John Price
• Kile “Gaz” Garrick
• John “Soap” MacTavish
• Alejandro Vargas

While Ghost, Price, Gaz and Soap should be familiar to any long-time CoD fan, Alejandro Vargas is a new addition to the Taskforce. The legendary operators also played a role in CoD Warzone – and in 2019’s CoD: MW, you could also find references back to the “old” Modern Warfare games.

What is already known about MW2? Besides the now known release date and characters, there is hardly any official information about the game so far. The only thing that is certain is that it will be a sequel to CoD MW 2019 – and that Infinity Ward will once again lead the development of the game.
