Heroes Dota 2 – Medusa

Heroes (Dota 2)

The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.

Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.

Medusa: “The only real beauty is power.”

Medusa, the Gorgon (Gorgoness), is an heroine from DotA and Dota 2. She is a ranged fighter of Dire, able to extend her attack to multiple opponents and protect herself. In the game, she takes on the role of a Carry. Medusa’s first ability Split Shot consumes no mana and can be switched at any time to extend her attack to up to five enemies at the highest level. However, this will reduce Medusa’s attack percentage. Mystic Snake allows Medusa to send a magical snake between enemy units, dealing damage and stealing mana that Medusa receives. Mana Shield, her third ability, allows Medusa to summon a shield around her that absorbs half of all incoming damage, but consumes mana per point of damage. With her Ultimate ability Stone Gaze, she can massively slow down enemy units in a wider area when they face her direction. If enemies look in Medusa’s direction for more than two seconds during the effect, they will be petrified for a short time. All units affected by Stone Gaze take additional physical damage from attacks, but are also completely immune to magic. Medusa’s Ultimate cannot be upgraded with Aghanim’s Scepter.

Medusa- Hype

Constant attack is the key to Medusa’s success. Using her mana shield to stave off assault, she employs split shots to mow down waves of enemies. Once she gathers her full strength, she becomes a force powerful enough to stop anyone in their tracks.

Medusa- Biography

“Beauty is power. This thought encouraged Medusa – the youngest and prettiest of three beautiful Gorgon sisters, born of a sea goddess – because she was the only one of the sisters who was mortal. It encouraged her until one day masked invaders, unmoved by her beauty and tears, raided the Gorgon realm and tore the two immortal sisters from their home. One of the invaders also seized Medusa, but tossed her aside with a disgusted look: ‘The stench of mortals clings to this one. We have no use for that which dies.’ Ashamed and angry, Medusa fled to her mother’s temple and threw herself before the goddess, weeping. ‘You have denied me eternal life, so I beg you, give me power! Power to dedicate my life, free my sisters and avenge this injustice!’ After much thought, the Goddess granted her daughter her wish, allowing Medusa to trade her legendary beauty for a face and a form of fearsome strength. Medusa has never regretted this decision. She understood that power is the only beauty one should possess – because only power can change the world.”
