Heroes (Dota 2)
The heroines and heroes (original: “Heroes”) are the primary playable entities in DotA and Dota 2. In a game, each player takes control of one of the 112 playable heroines and heroes. Each hero and heroine is a character with different attributes, abilities and roles. Each heroine and hero can also be categorized by the default attacks, which happen either in melee or ranged attacks.
Valve plans to develop their own heroines and heroes for Dota 2 after the release of the classic heroines and heroes from DotA Allstars, as Erik Johnson previously announced in a 2014 interview. After the release of Arc Warden in December 2015 and that of Underlord in August 2016, the first hero developed exclusively for Dota 2, Monkey King, appeared in winter 2016, although it was at least based on concepts from classic DotA and appeared there as an event boss opponent. The Dueling Fates update announced in August 2017 confirmed the release of two completely redesigned heroes.
Earthshaker: “Feel the earth shake!”
Raigor Stonehoof, the Earthshaker, is a strength hero from DotA and Dota 2. With his abilities, Earthshaker can cause the earth to shake, stunning and damaging enemies or making certain areas harder to access. He is a melee unit of the Radiant. In the game he can play the role of an initiator, disabler, support and lane support. Using his Fissure ability, he can stun and damage enemy units and separate units through a crack in the ground. Enchant Totem allows Earthshaker to charge his totem, which causes him to deal additional damage on his next strike. The additional damage is based on base damage and current strength. His third ability, Aftershock, automatically stuns and damages nearby enemy units whenever he uses another ability. His Ultimate Echo Slam also lets Earthshaker deal area damage through Earthquake, which emits an echo from hit units that damages bystanders again. With Aghanim’s Scepter, Heroes hit by the Ultimate’s First Strike generate two Echoes.
Earthshaker- Hype
Whether he’s blocking the escape route of his enemies, splitting their forces, or causing the earth to crack under a collection of enemies, Earthshaker prefers to strike without any warning. And if anyone is still on their feet after the aftershocks, they can be ready for a blow with a powerful totem.
Earthshaker- Biography
“Like a golem or gargoyle, Earthshaker was once one with the earth, but now walks freely on it. Unlike these other two beings, however, he created himself in an act of will and serves no other master. During his restless sleep, enclosed in a deep layer of rock, he became aware of life flowing unimpeded above him. The curiosity in him grew. Then a series of earthquakes sent avalanches thundering down from the peaks of Nishai, changed the course of rivers, and turned shallow valleys into bottomless fissures in the earth. When the earth finally stopped shaking, Earthshaker strode out of the settling dust cloud, pushing massive boulders aside as if they were light cloths. He created himself in the image of a mortal beast and named himself Raigor Stonehoof. Now he bleeds and breathes and therefore can die. But his soul continues to be that of Earth; he carries its power in the magical totem he always carries with him. And on the day he returns to dust, the earth will receive him back as a prodigal son.”
