G2 Esports messes with Nickmercs

Streamer Nicholas “Nickmercs” Kolcheff is a big deal on Twitch with : Warzone. Now, however, he got in with the wrong guy. He got into a showdown with the boss of , the head of the best European team on of Legends. And if there’s one thing the former LoL pro is good at, it’s flaming. Nickmercs got to hear a lot. But in the end, he came out on top.

That’s how the trouble started: The first shots were fired by the social media account of G2 . They’re a huge e-sports organization. According to Forbes, they are one of the 10 most valuable e-sports organizations in the world. They’ve dominated European League of Legends for years and are also putting out feelers into games like .

One of their players, Sean “Coop” Cooper, was in a trio of Nickmercs in . They played in the Fortnite Championship Series and finished 39th in NA East.

G2 Esports posted an image montage on Twitter:

  • This is how “our guy”, G2 Coop, plays Fortnite: One shows a picture of Coop and a “ Royale”, he won the round
  • This is how Nickmers plays Fortnite: One shows a picture of Nickmercs lying dead on the ground waiting to be revived

“I have more viewers than your whole org combined”.

Here’s how Nickmercs reacted to the gag: He obviously didn’t find it funny at all. After a long time, Nickmercs had played Fortnite competitively again and had to be mocked like this.

The streamer was obviously very annoyed that he is grabbed here by the gaming honor and such a gag is liked by 12,000 people. He wrote back:

“I get more viewers than your entire e-sports organization combined. Don’t make me embarrass myself.”

This is how the trouble started

Nickmercs’ reply then got significantly more likes than G2 Esports’ original tweet.

Actually, the matter could be over here now: a Twitch streamer responds bitingly and overly serious to a tweet that hurts his pride. But G2 Esports has a boss who is at least as proud as Nickmercs.

LoL boss talks himself into a rage on Twitter

This was the receiptNow the hot-blooded CEO of G2 Esports intervened: Carlos “Ocelote” Rodriguez. He used to be a LoL pro himself and if there’s one thing he knows how to do, it’s flaming people into the ground.

The first thing he wrote was “Lmaooo – fragile Frederick – easy up you degenerate”: So something like: Lighten up, you sissy.

Then the G2 boss attacked Nickmercs clan, FaZe: To go along with that and sign an 80/20 contract, you’d have to have a fragile ego, right?

With this, Ocelote alluded to the alleged gag contracts FaZe gives its players. In the case of Twitch streamer Turner “Tfue” Tyler, it had come out that the organization had allegedly secured up to 80% of certain streamers’ earnings.

Valorant G2 Esports Ocelote Title

Ocelote: A CEO who can talk himself into a frenzy.

Spanish-speaking Twitch star Ibai called Nickmercs to order: “You didn’t say that two months ago, slow down.”

Whereupon Ocelote pointed at ibai and shouted, “That guy has four times your viewership when he watches marble races.”

Ocelote named another set of great e-sports players who are successful on Twitch at the same time: Like the LoL pros Rekkles or Jankos, both playing for the LoL team of G2 Esports.

The message was clear: Your viewer numbers on Twitch are really nothing you can come to me with.

30-year-old Nickmercs is an American from Detroit, Michigan. He used to be a pro gamer in Halo and still gambles with the controller. He had his big break on Twitch with Call of Duty: Warzone in 2020. When he streams, an average of 38,000 viewers watch him. He is currently number 5 on Twitch for hours watched in the last 365 days.

Talk and €500 donation on Twitch end dispute

How it ended: After Ocelote had really talked himself into a frenzy, he probably realized that he had overshot the mark.

He then simply wrote “I talked to Nickmercs. We are okay again” and then the short but heated argument was over.

The conflict was apparently settled with a gift. G2 Esports donated Nickmercs 100 subs on Twitch and the trouble was out of the world. The 100 subs on Twitch cost about 500€.

With the 100 subs, Nickmercs can feel like the winner of the conflict. However, he hardly needs the money; after all, he is one of the top earners in gaming:

The 10 highest-paid gamers in the world – They earn the most on Twitch, YouTube and Co.
