FIFAe Nations Cup 2022

Denmark crashes out to Italy in the quarterfinals of the 2022 FIFAe Nations Cup. The home break thus goes into the final day without the host.

After being substituted in the second leg against Italy, Anders 'Anders' Vejrgang no longer had any influence on the quarterfinal outcome.

After substitution in the second leg against Italy Anders ‘Anders’ Vejrgang no longer had any influence on the quarterfinal outcome.

Italy has not only buried all the title hopes of the Germans at the FIFAe Nations Cup 2022, but also spoiled the party for the host.

In the quarterfinals, the “Squadra Azzurra” met Denmark, who won 1-0 against Israel in the round of 16 in a razor-thin but commanding manner.

Italy silences Halle

At first, it seemed like a tight affair: Italy’s early 1-0 score was countered by Anders ‘Anders’ Vejrgang with a thumping shot from just over 20 yards into the top left corner to make it 1-1. In the aftermath, the 16-year-old jumped up and gestured ecstatically in the direction of the Danish fans

Both teams acted defensively strong in the second leg as well. Again it was Italy who took the lead after a powerful shot from the turn. However, the Danish coach substituted FIFA prodigy ‘Anders’ in the 64th in-game minute – Fatih ‘Üstün’ Üstün came on. The change initially looked like the right move. The Danes came back again and postponed the decision to extra time – the hall went wild

There, however, late starters Italy really turned up the heat and added three goals within the 30 in-game minutes. This means that the FIFAe Nations Cup trip for the host is already over before the final day with spectators on site

“I don’t know why I was substituted. ‘Üstün’ didn’t play all day, but as a result we scored the goal. So it was the right decision,” Vejrgang summed up. “They had a chance to win this. What then happened in overtime is of course bitter.”

Brazil in the throes of victory.

Favorite scare Brazil

The “eSelecao” made it to the next round by playing catch-up, which gave them a boost. However, they eliminated one favorite after another in the course of the knockout stage

The Brazilians made it quite exciting. 2:1 it was not only in the round of 16 against Spain, but also in the quarterfinals against France. After conceding goals, they were not to be brought from the calm

“We kept the pressure up against France, followed through with our match plan as planned. Now whoever wants can come,” the Brazilian team summed up the match against France to kicker eSport

They acknowledged that they had just knocked the defending champions out of the tournament with a composed, “We told you so!” In the semifinals, the only non-European nation in the remaining tournament, Brazil, will face party crasher Italy.

Another defeat in the penalty shootout - 'Nicolas99FC' can not believe it.

Next penalty defeat for ‘Nicolas99FC

Already in the round of 16, Argentina struggled with top duo Nicolas ‘Nicolas99FC’ Villalba and Matias ‘Matiasbonnano’ Bonnano, were even behind against the underdog from Canada.

But a 2:1 brought them into the quarterfinals against Sweden. They found after the change to the duo ‘Oliboli” and ‘Optolle’ again to old strength – defeated the Netherlands in the round of 16 with 3:1.

Already over the whole tournament the Scandinavians showed themselves defensively strong. Against the well-organized Argentines, there were accordingly few chances in a strategically high-class match

The logical consequence: penalty shootout after 210 goalless minutes with the better end for the Swedes. The negative series of ‘Nicolas99FC’ within the FIFAe finals, it continues. “Maybe I should practice penalty kicks,” the Argentine replied to kicker eSport with gallows humor. Villalba also lost the final of the individual World Cup in a penalty shootout – against Germany’s Umut ‘Umut’ Gültekin.

Portugal tries to carry the ball into the goal. England and Portugal find no means. England with the penalty in the 57 min to take the lead in the second leg. Portugal back in the game 1:1 in the 64th Portugal dramatically to 2:1 in the 90th minute. Portugal in the quarterfinals

Poland continues to surprise

Poland was not on our radar either after finishing second in Group D. However, the Eastern Europeans played their way into the quarterfinals against Portugal with a 3:1 win over Germany’s United Arab Emirates.

There they continued where they had left off: Surprise favorites. The FIFAe Nations Cup newcomer, after a 0:1 in the first leg, really turned up the heat in the second leg. After an early 1:0, Poland added to their tally in the 71st minute with a Sunday shot from the right side into the top left corner – 2:0.

“Portugal was better than us, but in the end we got the result,” summed up ‘Damie’ after the surprising victory: “We have nothing to lose for tomorrow.”

With Portugal the next favorite fails in the quarterfinals. Poland will meet Sweden in the second semi-final of the FIFAe Nations Cup on Saturday
