FIFA 23 is the last soccer simulation from EA SPORTS that will be released under this name. GOAL provides you with all information and leaks.
FIFA 22 will soon be history again, because game manufacturer EA SPORTS has already announced the new part FIFA 23 – by the way the last one under the name known in the gaming scene. Consequently, the interest is already huge.
When will FIFA 23 be released? How much will the game cost? Which superstar will grace the cover this year? What new features will there be? How will the versions differ from console to console? What unconfirmed leaks are circulating? These are all questions that gamers are burning under their nails. GOAL tries to provide answers!
FIFA 23, release date: When will the new soccer game be released?
Manufacturer EA SPORTS has now announced the official date for the Release of FIFA 23 has been announced. At September 30, 2022 Will FIFA 23 officially appear on the market. However, experienced gamers know that there will be an edition with which you can already play in advance. With the Ultimate Edition, you get three days of advance access and can thus start playing the new FIFA from September 27.
However, there will be a change at EA Play. Here, too, gamers can play FIFA 23 in advance – for ten hours – but no longer just under a week before, as in previous years. The Early Access starts this year on 26 or 27 September, here the messages still differ. The web app for the Ultimate Team mode starts a good week before, according to experience. Let’s see if there will be changes here as well.
FIFA 23, Price: This is how much the different editions cost.
But it’s worth to check the prices at third party vendors to get FIFA 23 cheaper after all.
FIFA 23, cover: Kylian Mbappe and Sam Kerr the faces of the game
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe has made it onto the cover of FIFA for the third year in a row. But for the Ultimate Edition, he’s making his first appearance alongside Kerr.
Chelsea FC’s Sam Kerr will be the first woman to appear on the global cover, but only on the Ultimate Edition. Additionally, Kerr will grace the cover of the Standard Edition in her home country of Australia and New Zealand, as well as on the Amazon exclusive.
FIFA 23: First innovations and Cross-Play presented
On July 20, the time had finally come! EA SPORTS has published the first details about FIFA 23 and gave insight into what fans can look forward to in the new part.
Hypermotion 2
The showpiece here is said to be Hypermotion 2.0. The technology was first used in the next-gen versions of FIFA 22 and was supposed to offer “the most realistic, responsive, and fluid soccer game experience”.
FIFA 23 is said to see another significant step forward in this regard. “We have captured intense games of men’s and women’s professional teams using state-of-the-art technology, allowing us to convert millions of data points into new animations in real time,” said Nick Wlodyka, SVP & GM at EA SPORTS FC. “The result is the most natural and realistic soccer game movements ever.”
Cross-Play in FIFA 23
Cross-play, i.e. playing against friends or random opponents who don’t own the same console brand, will come into play in FIFA 23. However, there are some restrictions.
For example, Playstation 4 owners will not be able to face players from the new generation of consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X/S). Old-gen and next-gen gameplay are said to simply have too much difference. So what cross-play combinations are possible? At release, however, cross-play will only be available in all 1vs1 game modes, causing disappointment for fans of Pro Clubs, for example.
World Cup Mode: Men’s and Women’s World Cup part of FIFA 23
On the other hand, there is pleasant news on the topic of World Cups. Both the Men’s World Cup 2022 in Qatar and the Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand will be represented in FIFA 23.
It can be assumed that the rights for this will be used in many ways and should have a special added value especially in the Ultimate Team mode. But the Women’s World Cup is not all: leagues will also be newly integrated into the game. FIFA 23 will feature teams from the Barclays Women’s Super League and Division 1 Arkema.
Piemonte Calcio? Juventus returns in FIFA 23
Juventus Torino will be part of the game again in FIFA 23, after EA SPORTS lacked the rights to the Old Lady in recent years and had to integrate the team into the game as Piemonte Calcio.
Now the logo, jerseys and also the Allianz Stadium return.
FIFA 23: The new icons and FUT Heroes
Also with the new part there will be again a number of new icons and also Hero cards in the FUT mode. The first names have been confirmed in the meantime. GOAL collects them for you over the months:
- Yaya Toure
- Park Ji-Sung
- Ricardo Carvalho
- Claudio Marchisio
FIFA 23: All innovations in career mode
Even in times of online gaming the career mode in FIFA still enjoys great popularity, consequently many players are eagerly waiting for the innovations in FIFA 23. An important message in advance: Also in FIFA 23 it will not be possible to play the career mode online with friends.
Nevertheless, there are some new features to look forward to. As you know, there is a distinction between the player and coach careers. But first, let’s explain all the changes that will apply to both modes:
- Playable Highlights: In the future, it will be possible to play individual sequences of a game. The “playable highlights” can be seen as an option between a simulation and playing a whole game and should give new momentum to the career mode.
- New menu: A new menu should make the mode much more intuitive (game plan, training, transfers, etc.)
- Dynamic Moments: The sequences off the pitch are to become even more realistic and multi-faceted. Example: If you make it into the starting eleven for the first time in your playing career, this moment will be celebrated with film-like scenes.
FIFA 23: Changes in the player career
The most important innovation here is the personality development. Every decision on AND off the pitch has an impact on what type of player you develop into. There are three different characters: Maverick, Virtuoso, Heartbeat.
Actions off the pitch are supposed to have a much greater influence. Whether statements in interviews, private investments or shopping trips, every decision has consequences.
FIFA 23: Changes in the coaching career
- Authentic coaches: For the first time it will be possible to start a career with Jürgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola and many more – at the club of your choice!
- Transfer Analysis
- Jersey editor at Create Your Club
- Financial overview
FIFA 23: The news about Pro Clubs and VOLTA
Also here we have to start with bad news. Playing games in Pro Clubs and VOLTA via Cross-Play will not be possible at the launch of FIFA 23. But the manufacturer stated that they are already working on it, but from when it will also be used in these modes is not known.
On the positive side, your player’s progress will count together in Pro Clubs and VOLTA in the future, and you’ll be able to level up the Pro in both modes.
New features in Pro Clubs
- Skill games
- EP from VOLTA games count for the pro
- Progressive game ratings
- Maximum level increased from 25 to 100
- Possibility of tattoos, facial accessories or new hairstyles
- 4 new perks: Poacher, Light Passes, Interceptor, Chase Down

- new animation for the best players after a match

FIFA 23: How the matchday experience changes
Like every year, EA SPORTS has been working on the fringe program around the games and wants to make FIFA 23 even more realistic with the following changes:
Reading recommendation
- Hypermotion2 AR Repetitions: Hypermotion2 will also give replays a whole new look. Expected Goals, Shot Speed, Distance to Goal – it all becomes part of the replays.
