As with most multiplayer titles, Apex Legends is rife with players who use cheats or exploits, or verbally attack their teammates. Depending on how serious the situation is, the developers can temporarily or permanently ban these players. Of course, the latter is only for the most serious cases.
A ban in Apex Legends (buy now 139,98 € ) can be given to players for a variety of reasons. For example, team members can report the player if they cheat, troll, or verbally attack them. Nobody enjoys having to interact with such people, which is why Respawn and other developers put a lot of effort into ridding their titles of such players.
Players who think they have been unjustly banned can write a ticket to challenge that ban. One particular Apex Legends player, however, has gone a slightly different route and expressed his frustration in the official Apex Legends subreddit. A developer from Respawn actually responded to his post, but not in the way the player would have liked.
In his post, the user states that he was blamed for saying. “our boy Gibby is gay” banned. The thread received quite a bit of attention very quickly and also received numerous Reddit awards. Many users took the side of the allegedly wrongfully banned player. However, Respawn’s Director of Comms, Ryan K. Rigney, was quick to explain that the player must have left out a few details of his ban:
“This was one of the messages which was shown to me. However, you are forgetting another message that caused your account to receive a strike on May 31. A little hint: it contains a word that starts with the letter N.”
It doesn’t take much imagination to imagine what word the user might have used here. In any case, Rigney’s statement caused some funny comments in the Reddit thread from various users who found this story very entertaining. The original thread has since been removed as well.
