The Tropas is an army in Call of Duty: Black Ops. They are soldiers from Cuba under Fidel Castro to serve. In the campaign, they only appear in the first mission, Operation 40. Nevertheless, they appear in multiplayer as a playable faction. In Call of Duty: Black Ops II , they appear in the Pyrrhic Victory mission. Thousands of Cuban soldiers and airmen were shipped to Angola in the 1980s to help the MPLA fight UNITA and South Africa. Alex Mason and Jason Hudson infiltrate a cabin full of tropes to call Jonas Savimbi for help when newly found Frank Woods needs to be evacuated. They are by Raul Menendezdiscovered working with the troops, prompting Mason to take him hostage. Menendez fights back and is able to knock Mason down, but Mason is quicker, shoots him in the face, and flees. The Tropas rush after the three, but the trio escape thanks to a UNITA helicopter.

Info
- The term tropas means “troops” in both Spain and Portugal.
- Even though the AK-47 is on the Tropas logo, they don’t use the weapon once in the campaign.
- If you play with the Tropas (or with the NVA ) and use a bulletproof vest, you have stripes on your shoulder that read CCCP, which means USSR in German. The same applies to the Spetsnaz as well.
- The Tropas are the third faction from Latin America, the first being the Brazilian Militia and the second the Havana Police Department.
- The Tropas Scavenger model carries the exact same backpack as the Op 40 and Black Ops Winter models .
- Ironically, the troops and their homeland appear only in the first mission of the campaign, but most of the multiplayer maps are set in Cuba.
- The hard-line model of the Tropas wears gloves when playing, but if a third person looks at their hands, they are uncovered.
- The Tropas multiplayer announcer is the only one who calls the thunder by its actual name, the others just say B-52 or carpet bombing. But he doesn’t always do that, sometimes he uses nicknames.
- There is a glitch where the announcer doesn’t announce that dogs are coming onto the battlefield.
- One of their sayings, “Lanzando Granada pegada” translates to “Throw sticky grenade!”. A more accurate translation would be “Lanzando Granada pegajosa!”, meaning “Throw sticky grenade!”.
- When wounded, the character will sometimes yell “Enfermo aqui!”. However, this means “I am ill”, i.e. meant to be ill. The more accurate translation would be “Herido Aqui!” been.
- There is an error where one of the tropas places a claymore saying “Plantando dinamita” but dinamita means dynamite and there is no specific word for claymore in Spanish. So the correct pronunciation would have been “Plantando Claymore”.
- In the Wii version, the tropes have a different song when spawning.
- In the campaign mission in which the tropes appear, they hold the scorpion-like a pistol.
Call of Duty
The Call of Duty series has existed since 2003 and in addition to various spin-offs, including for the handheld systems Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, 14 major titles of the series have now been released. Ever since the first part of the series, great emphasis has been placed on the online multiplayer mode in addition to the single-player campaign, which is also reflected in the development of the shooter series. Since the first Call of Duty, World at War, which was developed exclusively by Treyarch, each part also included cooperative challenges that you could play together with friends. The latest installment, Call of Duty: World War II, also features an extended multiplayer mode that puts you and your friends in the combat zones and famous battles of World War II. Using the divisions, you’ll be able to choose between the deadly sniper and the brute armored division and support your comrades in battle. In addition, World War II also has a zombie mode “Nazi Zombies”, as in its predecessor Call of Duty: Black Ops. Face the monsters of the Third Reich and win glory and honor.
