Battlefield 7 is supposed to learn from mistakes of its predecessor. A concrete info sounds already better than what Battlefield 2042 did wrong.
Redwood City, California – Battlefield 2042 flopped hard, no question about it. Publisher EA, however, seems to be putting money and time into making the sequel better. One target group in particular has long been forgotten and is now to be the focus again. What does the new information mean for the current part, is it time to die for Battlefield 7?
This info gives hope for Battlefield 7: Battlefield 2042 is considered the big gaming disappointment of 2021, and for many gamers it sent the prestigious shooter series to its grave. The bad decisions of developer DICE were so extensive that you would still be reading this article tomorrow if all of them were listed. However, a small piece of information about the successor has already brought joy to gamers.
From an official job search by EA it is now clear that the new Battlefield will again offer a single player campaign. The disgraced predecessor Battlefield 2042 did without the important story – how that turned out is well known. We’ll tell you why this news gives us hope for great things.
Battlefield 7: Singleplayer campaign confirmed – why the story is so important for the shooter
Here’s what we know about the new campaign: Officially, not much is known about Battlefield 7, not even the name is set in stone. But the requirements for the new story boss sound promising. That’s according to the job description:
- A new Battlefield studio is to be created in Seattle to work on the as yet unnamed “Battlefield 2042” sequel.
- The sought-after developer is said to be literally “The design team and design vision for a new Battlefield campaign.” lead. So the campaign is mentioned by name. In addition, the word “Singleplayer Campaign” used.
- The tasks include designing “exciting stories” and “unforgettable characters“.
- The new part is supposed to be a AAA game (Triple A) – that is, EA takes a lot of money in hand. That’s what blockbuster productions are called. So you don’t let the flop get you down.
That’s why the job sounds so good: Battlefield 2042 had to listen to itself (rightly) for simply copying the shooter hit from competitor Call of Duty. Instead of grounded gameplay in a realistic setting, which was the series tradition, there was a half-baked clone of Warzone. Unfortunately, the Battle Royale copy didn’t succeed, especially the technical state was a disaster. It is all the more pleasing now that a mainstay of the new Battlefield wants to root on old strengths again.
Series connoisseurs now interject that even Battlefield 5 didn’t have a real story. This is also true, the rather episodic short stories, which are also partly known from Battlefield 1, were not really well received by the fans. So it’s all the better that the game is now hopefully oriented towards heavyweights like Bad Company. It’s also a tradition that some fans don’t care about the story, for them only the multiplayer counts. But since EA seems to have taken all the feedback to heart, they should return to their old strength in online matches and drop the unspeakable operators.
Good news is also that the new EA studio in Seattle, for example, can count on Marcus Letho, the co-creator of Halo and long-time Bungie employee as game director. According to leaker and industry insider Tom Henderson, Battlefield 7, which is planned for 2024, will have the best chance to take off. But what does that mean for the dying Battlefield 2042?
So is the flop Battlefield 2042 (finally) dead and buried?
This is what EA is planning for Battlefield 2042: If you believe EA, Battlefield 2042 will not be dropped like the proverbial hot potato, despite the launch, and the unpleasant following months. Rebecka Coutaz has been in charge of Battlefield 2042 at DICE for about half a year now, and she makes it clear that they’re sticking to the game, correcting all the mistakes, listening to the fans’ feedback and implementing it. We would have liked to see a lot of this in the Battlefield 2042 review.
Initial developments from this include Battlefield 2042’s delayed – Season 1 actually going live in June 2022 and even being positively received by players on Steam. We hope that the tormented Battlefield players will see better days in the near future.
We will of course keep you updated on the new Battlefield and provide you with the most important info. If you are looking for a new shooter for 2022, this should interest you: Fat leak of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
