A native of Jordan, Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi is one of the strongest and most respected players in competitive Dota 2. The nickname Miracle- has become a household name and his style and level of play will linger in Dota 2 fans’ memory for long. Introducing Miracle’s journey to becoming an athlete.

The beginning of the career

Miracle-‘s career had started long before he arrived at a professional club. He has been playing video games since he was 5 years old. The future world champion visited computer clubs with his older brother, where he played the first version of Dota. The journey to the top started with his move to Dota 2.

After moving to Dota 2, Miracle suddenly became one of the best high-level players. Since moving to Dota 2, he’s been at the top of the MMR. In January 2015, the player was invited by the Balkan Bears team. This was not a prominent team, but that is what made Miracle popular. In August 2015, the player switched to Monkey Business, which became OG as a result.

OG and the first success

Coming to OG, Miracle- started playing in a very different way. This star team helped him show his potential. Amer became the champion of the first two major tournaments: The Frankfurt Major 2015 and The Manila Major 2016. In addition, he won the ESL One Frankfurt 2016 championship with OG. However, such serious results did not help the player to win The International 2016. OG surprisingly failed in places 9-12. After that, the player went to Team Liquid, where he gained maximum momentum.

Team Liquid and the best team in the world

Miracle joined Team Liquid in September 2016. Initially, the game was not optimal, but the team did not break up and continued to play in world-class tournaments. Efforts brought results.

Miracle- prevailed at StarLadder i-League StarSeries – Season 3 in October 2017. It was the first championship the player won with Team Liquid. The win provided a serious boost, after which Liquid’s period of dominance began.

In May 2017, Miracle and the team became champions of EPICENTER 2017. Team Liquid defeated their opponents from Newbee in August 2017 to win the championship of The International 2017. The team faced decline after winning the most prestigious world championship. In 2018, however, Liquid returned to the top.

In June 2018, Miracle and the team became champions of China Dota2 Supermajor. They placed 4th at The International 2018 in August of the same year. 2nd place at The International 2019 was the last significant result for Miracle – as a member of Team Liquid.

In November 2019, Miracle founded her organization, Team Nigma, with his teammates.

Team Nigma and Personal Achievements

With Nigma, Miracle- became the champion of several tournaments. He took first place on WePlay! Bukovel Minor 2020, WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War: Mad Moon, WeSave! Charity Play – EU & CIS and OGA Dota PIT S2: Europe CIS.

Miracle- has earned more than $4,768,000 in prize money in his career. He was the first player to reach the 9,000 MMR mark. In 2017 he received the title of Best eSportsman at the eSports Industry Awards. Also, he is the second player on the list to have made it to TI and 2 Major tournaments.

Dota 2

Dota 2 is – unlike other big MOBA titles like League of Legends – free to play with all heroes. However, game items can be purchased in the Dota 2 store, but all of them have no effect on the gameplay. Only cosmetic items like different skins for the heroes can be purchased.
