The Team of the Year in FIFA 22 is just around the corner and meanwhile you can vote for the best players of the year. But is everything going according to the rules?

Bye, Headliners… the TOTY is our new best friend! We are already absolutely hyped about the most amazing cards in FIFA 22! Who will be in the starting eleven? Who will be the twelfth man? This is currently being voted on until January 18th. If the schedule of last year is right, the Team of the Year in FIFA 22 will be released on January 21st.

We have already cast our vote as well. So it’s all gucci, right? Well, one aspect on the voting page has us wondering… how much is our vote actually worth?

How do we come up with this wild assumption? Joa, if you read the terms and conditions – LoL, who does that – on the voting page for the Team of the Year in FIFA 22, you will find the following paragraph:

THE FINAL TEAM OF THE YEAR SELECTION WILL BE DETERMINED BY COMMUNITY VOTES WITH POSSIBLE INPUT FROM EA.

Aha! EA gives “possible input” on the voting results? Are our votes worth anything then? It’s enough that content creators in FIFA 22 have to fight with hacks again and again, but now EA can (theoretically) change the TOTY team at will?

It’s surely not that dramatic… Let’s assume the community pulls the same rope and votes some players into the TOTY, who maybe don’t necessarily belong in there. What happens then?

We would really be interested in the consequences if players like Hummels, Paqueta or Christian Günter (soccer god) were voted into the TOTY. No front against the performance of the players at this point, but for the best eleven of the year is not quite enough.

In the end, it will be the usual suspects again anyway… You can be prepared for meta-players like Messi, Ronaldo and Mbappé.

What are TOTS in FIFA?

The best players of the past – Season are included in the Team of the – Season . A TOTS consists of 15 players. The stars who were especially good for their clubs in real life can be found in the TOTS of their respective league.

The best: There are not only different TOTS from the top leagues and many more, there is also a vote for all the players who are among your favorites.

FIFA 23 WILL BE THE LAST PART OF THE GAME SERIES UNDER THIS NAME

FIFA 23 will be the last part of the game series to be released under the name of the world governing body and in collaboration with EA. For months the rumor mill was bubbling, now all this has been confirmed by the game makers EA in May 2022. The fact is that after almost 30 years of partnership between EA Sports and FIFA, the license agreement between the two parties will expire with the game FIFA 23.

Already with the launch of FIFA 22, Electronic Arts revealed the following in a blog post: There exists “the idea to rename our global EA Sports soccer games.” According to speculation, the world governing body FIFA has demanded double the amount for a continuation of the cooperation in new contract negotiations with EA. Exact figures have not been confirmed, but it is said to have been a sum in the billions for a total of ten more years.

So it is not surprising that the partnership of EA and FIFA ends with the upcoming game FIFA 23.
