Team Information:
Renegades is a professional esports organization created from the rebranding of the Misfits organization. Renegades competes in a variety of disciplines, including League of Legends, Valorant, CSGO, and more.
We bring to your attention the history of the CSGO unit of the organization
First impression
As mentioned above, the Renegades were born from the reformatting of the Misfits organization. It happened in June 2015.
The first CSGO squad were former Vox Eminor players. The protection of the Renegades tag should have been:
Devastation
SPUNJ
jks
AZR
Sweet potato
Such five renegades and rushed into battle. And they did it pretty well.
First results
The Australian squad Renegades immediately began its journey with a victory. The team won the Australian Cyber League 2015: Sydney and the FACEIT League 2015 Stage 2 – Oceania.
In July, the team placed 5th-8th at the Electronic Sports World Cup 2015 and finished in the top 3 at Intel Extreme Masters – Season X – gamescom.
In August 2015, Renegades played in the first major tournament for the newly formed organization. It was ESL One: Cologne 2015 and Renegades were not very successful there, finishing 9th to 12th.
After the major, there was an appearance at DreamHack Open London, where the team ended in TOP-8. Renegades ended their debut year with 2nd place in the RGN Pro Series.
Searching for the optimal composition and short-term improvements of Renegades.
2016 was not the best year for Renegades. Although it started with silver at Intel Extreme Masters X – Taipei, the continuation left much to be desired.
In February, Renegades failed to qualify for two major tournaments at the same time: DreamHack Masters Malmo 2016 and MLG Major Championship: Columbus 2016.
Of course, such mistakes were not in the plans of the organization, and therefore it was decided to change the composition. The first team to leave was Havoc, which was replaced by USTILO. However, this did not have any particular impact on the results. Renegades continued to perform poorly in tournaments.
The next lineup change took place in June. Then SPUNJ left the club and Rickeh took his place. The second change of the year revived Renegades a little. The team finished 2nd at eXTREMESLAND ZOWIE Asia CS: GO 2016, 5th at ESL Pro League – Season 4 – North America, 2nd at Asia Minor Championship – Atlanta 2017 and 2nd at DreamHack Open Winter 2016….
The next – Season Renegades did not start very confidently. The team failed to finish at DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017, where they finished on the 13-16th line. Later, the team finished 6th-7th at Intel Extreme Masters XII – Sydney and finished 9th at ESL Pro League – Season 5 – NA.
In June, the Renegades lineup changed. The team included:
AZR
jks
USTILO
Refined
Nexa
With such a squad, Renegades managed to reach the championship at the Asia Minor Championship – Krakow 2017. However, Renegades failed to enter the Major in Krakow as the team failed to pass the offline qualification for the World Championship.
Later, Renegades finished 9th-12th at DreamHack Masters Malmo 2017 and 13th-16th at ELEAGUE CS: GO Premier 2017. Thanks to the victories at Asia Minor Championship – Boston 2018 and StarLadder i-League Invitational #, the situation can be improved a bit 2. Moreover, at the end of the year, Renegades finished 2nd at iBUYPOWER Masters 2017.
Attempts by Renegades to penetrate the TOP.
The 2018 – Season begins with a responsible performance for Renegades. The team plays at the Major championship for the second time in the history of the organization. However, there the team suffers a complete breakdown: at ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 Renegades stop and start their performance not really, but more precisely in the 18th row.
After the failure in Boston, the recently arrived NAF leaves the team and jkaem takes his place. Renegades play with a slightly different lineup until September.
During this time, Renegades have participated in a number of prestigious tournaments: They placed 5th-8th at StarLadder & i-League StarSeries – Season 4, 9th-12th at Intel Extreme Masters Marseille 2018, and 5th at ESL Pro League – Season 7 – N/A.
Later, Renegades finished 5th to 6th at Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Sydney and 9th to 12th at ESL Pro League – Season 7 – Finals.
Subsequent results were not much different from the above. Renegades constantly tried to get to the top, but could not impose a worthy fight on the world giants. However, in July they earned another such opportunity.
The team won the Asia Minor Championship – London 2018, securing a ticket to FACEIT Major: London 2018. Unfortunately, the Major itself was a disaster for Renegades. The team performed even worse than in Boston: this time the team finished 20-22.
Obviously, this fiasco led to a change in composition. Nifty and USTILO left the band and Liazz and Gratisfaction took their places. With the new roster, the results slowly began to improve.
The team finished 2nd at the Esports Championship Series – Season 6 – NA, 3rd to 4th at TOYOTA Master CS: GO Bangkok 2018.
In early 2019, Renegades won the Asia Minor Championship again, this time earning a spot at Intel Extreme Masters XIII – Katowice Major.
At the championship itself, the team finished 5th-8th, which was clearly a disproportionately better result than previous performances at tournaments of this level.
After Katowice 2019, Renegades occupied the 3-4th line at StarSeries & i-League CS: GO – Season 7. During the next – Season , Renegades played in S-rank tournaments, but always took the “middle” places.
A real boom occurred in September 2019, when the team finished 3-4th at the StarLadder Berlin Major 2019. After such success, the players of the squad were noticed by the organization 100 Thieves. As a result, in October, the entire Renegades squad was signed by 100 Thieves, and the deceased players were replaced by young artists:
Dexter
Malta
Sico
INS
Hunt
A new and very bright time has come for Renegades
Renegades take off in the online age
If 2020 wasn’t a very successful year for anyone due to Pandemic and the lack of major tournaments, then everything went the other way for Renegades. Although the team started the year with a second place finish at DreamHack Open Leipzig 2020 and a 13th-16th place finish at Intel Extreme Masters XIV – World Championship, Renegades celebrated an incredible series of victories in the Pacific Rim.
By the end of 2020, Renegades had a streak of 9 championships won. Among them, both were not very prestigious and quite significant, as DreamHack Masters Spring 2020: Oceania and ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online – Oceania
Organization and awards
The founders of the organization are Chris Badawi and MonteCristo. Chris Roumayeh is the CEO. The squad is managed by Josh Clay and William Gray, and Dexter is the captain.
Renegades works with a number of well-known brands, including NVIDIA, HyperX, Alienware, Twitch, Champion, RESPAWN products and Velocilinx.
Since its inception, the CSGO division has brought in around $1 million in prize money for the organization.
CS:GO
CS:GO Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO for short) is a computer game from the genre of online tactical shooters. It was developed by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment and is the fourth part of the Counter-Strike series. The game was released on August 21, 2012 for Windows, Linux, macOS, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. A release for the PlayStation 3 in Europe failed to materialize for unknown reasons. Global Offensive achieved a Metascore of 83 points. Since September 14, 2017, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has also been available in China via the Perfect World client. In December 2018, the game was switched to a free-to-play model, which drew criticism.
