Call of Duty Champs 2023 is right around the corner, so it was time for the participating teams to finalize their lineups. The 2023 Call of Duty League is coming to its end, with only the Championship remaining! The last Major of the Call of Duty League concluded on the 28th of May, with the New York Subliners becoming the Champions of Stage 5.
After the event, the 8th CDL Championship teams have locked in their rosters. The qualified teams for Champs are Atlanta FaZe, OpTic Texas, New York Subliners, Toronto Ultra, Los Angeles Thieves, Minnesota RØKKR, Boston Breach, and Seattle Surge. Unfortunately, Los Angeles Guerrillas, Florida Mutineers, London Royal Ravens, and Las Vegas Legion fought hard but failed to qualify. Yesterday, the official Call of Duty League Twitter and Facebook accounts shared the lineups of the qualified squads for Champs, so we finally know who we can root for in the ultimate Call of Duty event!
The lineups of the Call of Duty Champs 2023 teams
Atlanta FaZe
- Tyler “aBeZy” Pharris
- McArthur “Cellium” Jovel
- Chris “Simp” Lehr
- Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat
The most successful team in Call of Duty, winners of the Stage 2 Majors and the best team in the regular season of the 2023 CDL, will return to claim another title after failing to defend their crown in the 2022 CDL Champs. Can Simp and his teammates do it this time?
OpTic Texas
- Brandon “Dashy” Otell
- Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro
- Cuyler “Huke” Garland
- Daniel “Ghosty” Rothe
OpTic Texas has a lot to prove this time around, as they didn’t secure any Major titles this year, although they reached the finals in both Stage 3 and Stage 4. With Huke and Ghosty on their roster, they should have a shot at the 1st place, provided they can recover from the setback of the Stage 5 Major.
New York Subliners
- Paco “HyDra” Rusiewiez
- Matthew “KiSMET” Tinsley
- Cesar “Skyz” Bueno
- Preston “Priestahh” Greiner
The only squad to win two Majors this year, the New York Subliners are among the top contenders for the Champs title. After winning Major 1, they ended the regular season on a high note, securing first place in Major 5. They also have HyDra, considered one of the best players currently, in their ranks.
Toronto Ultra
- Tobias “CleanX” Juul Jonsson
- Jamie “Insight” Craven
- Charlie “Hicksy” Hicks
- Thomas “Scrappy” Ernst
The addition of Hicksy has elevated the Toronto Ultra’s team. While they didn’t have a great start to the season, finishing outside the top 3 in both Major 2 and Major 3, they secured the title in the Stage 3 Major after Hicksy joined the team. Sadly, Ultra didn’t live up to the hype in the second half of the 2023 CDL Season, but the Championship is the perfect opportunity to right their wrongs.
Los Angeles Thieves
- Zack “Drazah” Jordan
- Kenneth “Kenny” Williams
- Sam “Octane” Larew
- Dylan “Envoy” Hannon
The Champions of the 2022 Call of Duty League season return to defend their title against 7 contenders. Kenny and his teammates had a successful Modern Warfare II season, making it to the finals of Major 2 and sealing the deal in Major 4. While they didn’t have the hottest run in Stage 5, finishing in the top 6, they should still be a team to watch out for at Champs.
Minnesota RØKKR
- Kevin “Fame” Bonanno
- Dillon “Attach” Price
- Ben “Bance” Bance
- Cameron “Cammy” McKilligan
RØKKR has experimented with various roster permutations, swapping out Attach for Fame and then Afro to bring Attach back to the starting lineup. The above lineup seems to be the one that works best, as the Minnesota team finished 5th in the Stage 5 Major after only making it to the top 6 in Major 4. While RØKKR didn’t reach any finals or win any CDL events, they always put on a show in high-stakes matches.
Boston Breach
- Joseph “Owakening” Conley
- Ben “Beans” McMellon
- Kyle “Kremp” Haworth
- Eric “Snoopy” Pérez
The newest team in the Call of Duty League made a bold move before this year’s CDL Champs. They swapped a veteran player, Reece “Vivid” Drost, for an up-and-coming star, Snoopy, who has been a member of Breach Academy since April but has played for several Challenger and Amateur teams since June 2020. Snoopy hasn’t won any Challenger events, but his explosive playstyle has sparked many discussions. Kremp, who joined the main lineup of Breach in April, has proven to be a good addition. While it’s a bold move, maybe Snoopy is the key to Boston’s success.
Seattle Surge
- Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi
- Makenzie “Mack” Kelley
- Amer “Pred” Zulbeari
- Daunte “Sib” Gray
The Seattle Surge team has been together since the end of the Black Ops Cold War season, winning the Stage 3 Major of the Vanguard era. They started strong in the Modern Warfare II season as well, making it to the finals of the Stage 1 Major, where the New York Subliners beat them. Unfortunately, they couldn’t match that performance for the rest of the season. However, they finished 1st in the Major 3 Qualifiers and reached 3rd place in the first half of Major 4. This secured them the last spot at Champs, but it was a close call. Nevertheless, Seattle Surge will be the final team trying to win it all this year. Hopefully, Pred and his teammates make the best of it.
