The VBL will be further professionalized. The DFL announced this after a general meeting. Starting next year, a licensing procedure is to be in place that will apply to the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2
The German Football League (DFL) has announced that the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) will be anchored in the league statutes. In German this means that the VBL will be a licensed league. This should apply to the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, whose structures are practically taken from reality into the online world. With this, the VBL is taking a big step in the direction of professionalization.
The conditions that clubs then have to meet in order to be allowed to participate in the VBL include “maintaining an eFootball team” and “operating a main eFootball venue”. They have to have the “required technical equipment” at their disposal. In addition, a full-time person responsible for eFootball is required. You have to let that pass on your tongue first.
So if you want to do eSports professionally in the VBL, you have to upgrade in order to meet the requirements. The DFL emphasizes that there are sanctions if the requirements are not met correctly. Calm down guys, honestly.
VBL goes hand in hand with EA Sports
The licensing agreement with EA Sports was extended early in 2020. Despite the name change from “FIFA” to “EA Sports FC” , the VBL is still planning with the North Americans. That applies at least in the medium term, because it remains to be seen how the FIFA association will develop the game of the same name from 2024 and to what extent it will be suitable for eSports. After all, the licenses of the stars remain with EA .
VBL no compulsion for football clubs
Andreas Heyden, Managing Director of DFL Digital Sport GmbH and Executive Vice President of the Digital Innovations DFL Group, says on the subject of the mandatory participation of the clubs: “There will be no compulsion.” As a so-called B criterion, the VBL has no influence on the licensing of a club for the Bundesliga or Bundesliga 2.
However, participation is not entirely voluntary. Heyden and the DFL want to “discuss the consequences of non-participation with the clubs in the next few years.” Any sanctions should also not “affect game operations and competition in the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2.”
The VBL will not come into force as a B criterion until the 2023/24 – Season , the coming – Season is still completely voluntary. “We are very happy with this step. I think it reflects the commitment of the players, the clubs, but also the league,” said Heyden. The inclusion should “motivate even more clubs to take part in the competition.”
“I think the most important thing is that it is recognized by the managers of classic football who have made this decision.”
Heyden also emphasized the “relevance in the youth target group, which can no longer be ignored. “There is a clear demand on the market. On the one hand people who want to play the game FIFA. On the other hand, fans who want to watch these games.”
DFL respects marketing deals
The inclusion of the VBL in the DFL statutes also does not mean that clubs like FC Bayern Munich have to end their marketing deals with other providers such as eFootball developer Konami – content exclusivity does not seem to be planned.
FIFA 22 – FUTs
What could be cooler than just relaxed gaming and doing some sofa sports on the side? In FIFA 22, the player is on the move fast, but without getting sore muscles. With the Ultimate Team Event cards, the collecting instinct is now also satisfied. However, the FUT Heroes keep creeping into my mind, so here are the best Ultimate Team Event cards that are definitely worth adding to your collection.
Heroes cards selected by EA for top qualities
Admittedly, the FUT heroes will cost quite a bit of coin, but it turns out that EA has once again brought some top-class players into the game when it comes to selection. As a collector and hunter, it’s an added attraction for FIFA gamers to now include their own favorite heroes in the portfolio and benefit from their individual skills. Both in the game and in team building, the FUTs will revolutionize the game once again.
EA SPORTS FC: FIFA GAME SERIES TO BE CONTINUED UNDER NEW NAME
Of course, the soccer simulation game series will not be discontinued completely. After FIFA 23, EA will relaunch the game under the name EA Sports FC and market it independently. Old FIFA hares should now become quite an ear, after all, the EA Sports Football Club used to be a part of the actual game for years. A lot of playing was rewarded, points could be collected and items, boosts or balls for the individual game modes could be unlocked.
In this context, there could also be a complete revolution of the classic game. There is a heated discussion in the FIFA community about whether the game, which is expected to be released in the fall of 2023, will be free-to-play. This option is said to be on the table for the game makers from EA, because: It seems that EA earns most of its money with the purchases of FIFA Points in the game mode Ultimate Team and not with the sale of the game itself.
