In a long stream on Overwatch 2, Blizzard spoke for the first time about the changes in the PvP area. The most important thing up front: The games will be smaller, because in the future 5 against 5 players will compete, instead of 6 against 6 as before.

This is also related to the composition of the teams. In the future, these will consist of two ranged fighters, two helpers and only one tank. In this way, matches are to be balanced even better, after the fixed hero slots were already introduced in Overwatch.

The reduction of players should make Overwatch simpler and faster. With two tanks per team, tactics were previously possible that significantly slowed down the flow of the game. In addition, individual players should have more influence on a match. This also applies to the tanks, which will have more attack options in Overwatch 2 than before.

So far, Blizzard’s PR for Overwatch 2 has focused primarily on the PvE mode. This is in contrast to the new PvP content exclusively available for the sequel.
