Ban Wave Strikes Alterac Valley Leechers

In our guide How to get the most out of the WoW: Pre-Patch! we gave you, among other things, the tip to equip your newly leveled up characters with the strong equipment from the last PvP – Season of TBC Classic. All you need is some honor. And where can you farm honor in a particularly chill way? Of course, in the Alterac Valley!

Ban wave hits leechers critically

It is thereby almost something like a beloved Tradition. For as long as Alterac Valley has existed, players have parked their characters somewhere on the 40-player battlefield, where they get nothing or very little to do, in order to grab some honor with as little effort as possible. For example, we remember very well the numerous bots that flooded the battlefield in the weeks and months of Burning Crusade.. In the same way, however, there were also Alterac Valley of WoW Classic a big bot and leecher problem..

Since the start of the pre-patch phase of WotLK Classic, the Alterac Valley has once again become especially popular with players who want to outfit their freshly bred characters with epic PvP gear without too much stress. Especially death knights between level 61 and 70 are frequently encountered in BG rounds. Unsurprisingly, few newcomers throw themselves into the front lines with everything they have. Many park themselves in towers or “defend” questionable positions throughout the game. And as has always been the case, all players who put their all into the battle for the fortresses get annoyed again this time.

As a result, characters are being reported more again, certainly in part simply because they haven’t reached level 70 yet. And Blizzard has reacted, namely with a wave of bans. On Reddit, several people reported that their account was banned for 30 days. The reason: “PvP Non-Participation/Exploitation” (they didn’t participate properly in Battleground and Arena games) – example source 1, example source 2, example source 3.

Reactions from players and Blizzard

Of course, many of those banned write that they did not violate the user agreements. In their opinion, they were only reported because they dared to level in Alterac Valley. Incidentally, the well-known Youtuber/streamer Asmongold also takes the same line, clearly blaming Blizzard for the situation in a freshly published video. Others criticize that the punishment is completely disproportionate, because Blizzard often only bans players for three days for more serious offenses like botting or real-money purchases.

Other parts of the community, however, think it’s good that Blizzard is cracking down. The Leecher destroy the game fun of the normal players in the Alterac Valley, so their argumentation. They even mockingly point out that thanks to the wave of bans at launch, the queues will be shorter, which is a nice side effect.

But Blizzard officials also seem to have banned some players who actually hadn’t violated the user agreements. Reddit posts like this one or this one show that isolated bans were rescinded after a re-investigation. What do you think of the whole thing?
