March 9 is the day. The Chaos Theory Collection event starts and brings some new features. For one, the popular Battle Royale will finally be released for the Nintendo Switch. We already reported on the gameplay trailer for the Switch version a few days ago. Furthermore, players can now put a stop to the toxic scientist Caustic in the Caustic Town Takeover by infiltrating the building dedicated to him. In the Caustic Town Takeover, all kinds of powerful loot awaits all legends who dare to enter the lion’s den.
A new playlist called Ring Fury also launches with the Chaos Theory Collection event. In Ring Fury, in addition to the normal ring that gets smaller as the match progresses, there are additional smaller ring zones that expand within the arena. Players who are caught by such a ring zone will receive damage as if they were in the ring of the current round. However, there is a way to protect yourself from Ring Zones. During Ring Fury, all players start with a heat shield in their inventory. This can be set up to block damage from the ring zones – and the normal ring. Within the heat shield, healing items can be used faster, as well as team members can be revived faster. However, only when the heat shield is inside a ring. Additionally, the Heat Shield does not take up normal inventory space, but is located in the new Survival Slot, which it shares with other useful items such as the Mobile Respawn Beacon. The Survival Slot and Heat Shield will remain part of the game after the event ends.
There is also good news for solo players. Apex Legends (buy now 139,98 € ) finally lets them play alone – with some restrictions – without filling up their group with other players. So these players face off alone against other teams of three. However, only six of these players are allowed per match, and only teams of three are still allowed in rated mode.
A new Battlepass and 24 new cosmetic items are also included, of course. By collecting all 24 items, players will unlock an heirloom for Bangalore. After the event, the heirloom can be crafted normally in the crafting menu.
