In the US League of Legends, the Dane Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen (24) is actually considered the best botlaner in the LCS: But his new coach at Cloud9 had other plans. He sorted out the veteran before the start of the – Season . There wasn’t even room for him in the junior team. But everything changed at the start of the – Season .
That was Zven’s situation:
- Dane Zven has been playing in the US since 2017, after lousy years at TSM he was Cloud9’s big star, replacing club legend Sneaky. But in 2021 there was a lot of trouble at Cloud9, allegedly Zven got so upset about a mistake of his jungler that he was punished to the junior team for some games.
- For 2022, Cloud9 planned a new beginning: they brought in an innovative coach who was fully focused on Korea. His idea was to set up a strong second team to enable better training. Zven was not supposed to play any role in the new team, but only get some practice time.
- Actually, they wanted to replace the 24-year-old Dane with an 18-year-old Korean. Because of the foreigner rule in the LCS, there was actually no place for Zven in the squad of the team and the junior team. But the Korean “Berserker” didn’t get a visa for the start of the league, so suddenly the old Dane had to take over.
LoL: US team gets controversial genius – He first puts the best player cold.
Zven gets 6th penta kill of his US career – Sets new record
That’s how good Zven was:
The ADC managed a penta kill in the match against FlyQuest. That’s what it’s called in LoL when a player takes out all 5 opposing players in a relatively short time one after the other.
Zven’s penta kill was his 6th penta kill in the LCS, setting a new record.
A “Penta-Kill” is the highest a player can ever achieve in LoL. In pro games the penta kill is relatively rare, because most of the time some other player gets in the way.
How did Zven achieve the Penta-Kill?
Zven got the special achievement with the hero Ziggs in a teamfight at the edge of the enemy base. It was a fierce fight, in which Zven ended up shooting the last opponent in the back while fleeing.
“Leave him to me! Leave him to me!”
So says Zven: In an interview with Inven, Zven says: “After catching 3 opponents, he briefly thought about the penta kill, but the opponent’s ADC was still alive, so for now it was about catching him and winning the match for sure.
When the opponent’s ADC, Aphelios, used the stop-watch, Zven saw his opportunity on the Penta, so he yelled in voice chat, “Leave him to me! Leave him to me!” because that’s when the Penta kill was suddenly within reach.
However, Zven says, “He doesn’t think his teammates really left him to Aphelios, it just happened that way.
What does he say about his new role?
Cloud9 is betting on a “10 man” squad in 2022 and Zven knows that he is not currently part of the starting lineup. However, he assures that he trusts this project and he believes it can work. The best players would then already be lined up, regardless of role and nationality.
Zven says he knows he’s only playing because circumstances require it and so many foreign players are missing. But he thinks he still has it and can play at LCS level.
The Penta kill certainly seems to prove that.
