Yet another DC series: “Arrow” fan favorite builds his own Justice League – Series News

The so-called Arrowverse is far from over – even though the series that started it all ended in 2020 after eight – Season s. Now, an “Arrow” fan favorite is getting his own series….

The many fans of John Diggle can rejoice. The loyal “Arrow” sidekick gets his own series, after the character was already very present in the Arrowverse. After the end of “Arrow” we saw John Diggle alias Spartan finally appear in individual episodes of “”, “ & Lois”, “” and “”. Actor David Ramsey was also seen in another role (as a sheriff in the 19th century) in the time travel series “Legends Of Tomorrow”.

Now Ramsey is leading his own series, in which he also plays a major role behind the camera. “Justice U” is also set in the Arrowverse and takes place after the events of “Arrow.” Ex-soldier John Diggle, steeled in years of fighting alongside superheroes*, wants to take care of the next generation.

Therefore, Diggle recruits five young metahumans to enroll undercover as freshmen at a university, where, however, they do not pursue traditional studies. He wants to educate and train them there much moreso that they can become the next great superheroes. We can assume, however, that their powers will be in demand much earlier and that we will not only see them in the training room and on the school bench…

Justice U – the young ?

The title “Justice U” is likely to evoke associations with the famous Justice League. However, the focus is not on old heroes like Batman or Superman, but on young people, so that conflicts about growing up may also play a role. This also fits in perfectly with US broadcaster The CW, the home of the Arrowverse. With series like “Riverdale,” the channel is always trying to appeal to a young audience.

A pilot episode of “Justice U” has now been ordered. If the audience likes it, a whole series will be produced. By the way, the pilot will be directed by leading actor David Ramsay himself. Having already directed episodes of “Arrow” in the past and then also “Legends Of Tomorrow”, “Supergirl”, “Batwoman” and “Superman & Lois”, it pushes him more and more behind the camera. In the future, he will be responsible for further series episodes from the Arrowverse and – what is certainly more interesting for many fans – he will also appear there again and again as a guest star, independent of the success of “Justice U”.

David Ramsey: A fan favorite before the camera in “Arrow,” increasingly involved now as a director in the Arrowverse.

Where “Justice U” will air in Germany, if it comes to the – Season order, can not yet be estimated. An interim agreement between US broadcaster The CW and has since been terminated. The broadcast will now be decided separately for each new series, whereby theoretically every TV station and streaming service can make offers.

Currently, the Arrowverse still includes the series “The Flash”, “Legends Of Tomorrow”, “Batwoman” and “Superman & Lois”. The series “Arrow”, “Supergirl” and “Black Lightning”, which also belong to it, have been terminated. Other spin-off ideas are in development, but some of them, such as the series “Green Arrow And The Canaries”, were dropped before they could be realized.

Bad news for “Arrow” fans: sequel series to be scrapped
