While the closed beta of WoW Classic ends on July 12, we already know pretty much what we can expect from the remastered version of the original World of Warcraft s starting August 27. It’s clear, for example, that Classic will feel a bit more comfortable, at least in some areas, than WoW did in Patch 1.12 or earlier. Below, you can find out what more modern comfort features players have discovered in the beta (via MrGM ).
New convenience feature No. 1: Item comparison
In WoW Classic, you can press a button to compare the item you’ve selected with its currently equipped counterparts. This feature actually first came into play with the pre-patch for The Burning Crusade and has been a comfort standard ever since. So in WoW Classic, we will also benefit from this improvement.
New convenience feature – No. 2: Character screen
A small but nice convenience feature for players who want to play multiple characters in WoW Classic: In WoW Classic, you can arrange your characters in the character screen according to your own taste. This was not possible in vanilla WoW at the time.
New comfort function – No. 3 : Auto Loot
Probably every WoW player knows the “Quick Loot” setting option in the “Controls” section. The option was only introduced with TBC, before that you had to press a button if you wanted to automatically bag the loot of a defeated enemy.
New convenience feature – No. 4 : In-game addon management
In WoW Classic, you can activate or deactivate your installed addons directly in-game via the “AddOns” menu item. In vanilla WoW, you still had to log out of the game to get to the addon menu.
New Comfort Feature #5: Group Invitation Suggestions
In the Classic beta, you can suggest your group leader to invite other players to your group with just a few clicks. For example, if you see that a nearby alliance hero wants to make the Deadmines unsafe and you are building a group for the dungeon, then click on the player, select “Suggest Invite” and you will suggest to your group leader that they include this player in the group. ATTENTION: It remains to be seen whether this function will actually be available in the live version of WoW Classic. It was apparently not possible to use this comfort feature in the last stress test.
New comfort function no. 6: forced landing for booked flights
Unlike in the very early vanilla phase, our character in WoW Classic doesn’t end up with every flying master when he wants to fly across the country. But what if we make a mistake or decide on the fly that we want to return to the ground a stop or two early? In WoW Classic, you could initiate a forced landing by quickly logging out, but that was anything but comfortable. In WoW Classic, it will therefore be possible to force a button to land at the next possible flying master.
New convenience feature #7: Movable portrait
Yes, in vanilla WoW it was possible to move the character portrait or target portrait including life points – but only with addons. In WoW Classic, however, you can also freely move the UI elements back and forth within the standard interface.
New comfort function no. 8: Send multiple items
In WoW Classic you can send up to twelve items to another character in one fell swoop. In vanilla WoW this was only possible with the help of addons.
New convenience feature #9: Loot trading in raids
Anyone who accidentally bagged the wrong item in Vanilla WoW’s group challenges was forced to open a ticket and ask Blizzard Support to transfer the item to the correct character. In the WoW Classic raids, however, it will be possible to pass on loot to other players in the raid within a short period of probably two hours.
New comfort function no. 10: Modern menu structure
In WoW Classic, Blizzard uses the modern menus, which has several advantages. On the one hand, the individual menu areas are structured more sensibly and clearly these days, and on the other hand, we can see what is happening near our character even when the menu is open. On the other hand, if you opened the menu in vanilla WoW, you had to rely on your hearing, for example to notice impending danger.
New Convenience Feature No. 11: Interface Cooldown
Nowadays, if you want to know how long the cooldown times for used abilities are still running, simply activate the corresponding option in the “Action bars” area. In Vanilla WoW (and for a long time afterwards), however, this was only possible with special addons. In WoW Classic you will still find the modern option in the settings.
New Convenience Feature No. 12: In-Game Voice Chat
In Vanilla WoW, we were forced to use external programs to be able to chat with other players while gaming. Of course you can still do that in WoW Classic, TeamSpeak still exists, but many groups now prefer Discord. In addition, in Classic you probably have the option of using Blizzard’s modern in-game voice chat.
It’s certainly possible that some of these features will be removed by the time Classic is released in August. Nevertheless, we want to know from you what you think of these comfort features? Should Blizzard definitely do without some of these functions or are you happy that one or the other tool will make your virtual life in Classic easier? Tell us in the comments!
