WoW: The most hated heroes and characters in World of Warcraft are…

There are countless familiar names, heroes, champions, leaders and villains in the history of World of Warcraft and Warcraft. Their stories are often very detailed and beautifully told. Some characters have very special memories that players associate with them, such as Arthas Menethil, around whom much of Warcraft 3 and The Frozen Throne revolves. But there are also many characters that are just annoying and downright hated. But who is among them?

Every World of Warcraft player probably has some sort of checklist in their head that starts with certain NPCs. Arthas Menethil, the mischief-maker par excellence? I like him. Jaina Proudmoore, who has experienced so many bad things? I think she’s stupid. Illidan? Cool guy, I like him. Khadgar? Give me a break with Khadgar!

Such a list could be continued almost endlessly, because Blizzard has done a great job in Warcraft and World of Warcraft, creating countless heroes and anti-heroes throughout the history of the franchise. But some names make necks swell with rage, even if other players love these characters more than anything. But who are they? And how does it come about in the first place? We’ve got a few names for you that rightly drive some players up the wall and don’t bring a smile to their faces.

Of course, the following list only reflects the author’s personal opinion! Maybe you all find these characters pretty cool and have completely different names in mind.

Sylvanas Windrunner
First up is the Dark Lady, Banshee Queen and Warchief of the Horde, Sylvanas Winläuder. Huh? Isn’t Sylvanas really cool and the best leader in a long time? Yes, of course it can be argued, and there are far worse characters than Sylvanas, but many players despise the good lady

probably reached its peak in Wrath of the Lich King and the ongoing battle against Arthas.

After that, it was pretty quiet around Sylvanas for a long time, and it wasn’t until Legion that she really came back into the spotlight. But her motives are questionable to say the least, and not always impeccable, especially since she commands a faction among the undead that is very cunning on many fronts. She is also downright hated by all sorts of sides in the game, even her sisters are at enmity with her, something Vereesa Windrunner also talks about on the Vindicaar. Could this be where the coming Lich Queen develops?

Anduin Wrynn
Oh Anduin… The little boy and son of Varian really doesn’t have it easy, because being in his father’s shadow is quite a house number. That’s probably why he’s always been seen more as a little kid who very often makes naive decisions and puts himself in danger. Throughout most of his journey, players come to know him as a weak character who simply cannot compete with experienced Alliance warriors like his father, Genn Greymane, Muradin Bronzebeard (and the other members of the Council), or even Tyrande Whisperwind and Malfurion Stormrage. One could even argue that the gnomish high-tinker Gelbin Mekkatorque is a bit more heroic. But who knows how Anduin will turn out after the events of World of Warcraft Legion.

Yrel
Yrel is a true champion and a great character who did a lot of things right in Warlords of Draenor, right? Right? Not right! Does anyone have any consistently positive memories of the good and rather important Draenei lady? It started with her boring introduction, right at the beginning of the add-on, and actually continued that way. Even the major events and her rise to Exarch somehow didn’t make the lame character any better. Maybe Yrel just needed more time and some love from Blizzard to go over well with the masses.

Inspire.
Let’s move on to a problem bear that has driven many players crazy. We’re talking about the green Jesus Thrall, of course, who actually has an answer for everything and helps out where he can. Yes, Thrall is great and enormously important to Warcraft and the story. But over the many years and many storylines, the good orc eventually gets on your nerves.

Apart from that, many players don’t abide by the decisions of the former war chief, who often acts on his own and therefore doesn’t necessarily make things better. Stupid coincidences often lead to disasters for which he isn’t even held accountable because…. well, it’s Thrall. If only we had left Garrosh to rot in Outland! But speaking of Garrosh.

Garrosh Hellscream
What can we say about Garrosh? The son of the legendary Grommash Hellscream is, or was, a real nuisance who caused enormous suffering to the world and the characters. His decisions were brutal, selfish and sometimes downright stupid. But above all, his behavior was one thing: transparent. You could never hope for surprising decisions from the war chief, because he was evil personified, always responding with violence. Flat, lame and omnipresent. At least Thrall and Garrosh delivered a worthy farewell in Warlords of Draenor. We’ll never forgive you for Nazgrim, though….

Khadgar
“Oh hello, I’m Khadgar! I have an opinion on everything and I really need to get my words across to the player!” Let’s face it, Khadgar is annoying. As present and powerful as the old man may be, he’s just everywhere all the time. This virtual overkill is also to blame for the fact that so many players are completely annoyed by the mage.

While he was already annoying in Warlords of Draenor, he’s becoming a real nuisance in Legion, because no matter where the player wanders, Khadgar is somewhere nearby, even if it’s just hidden in a bush by the side of the road. Dalaran? As a gift, he’s bound to be there. But in the Broken Coast, in Azsuna, in the Night Castle, in the Tomb of Sargeras and on Vindicaar? The man really has a lot to do!

At least Blizzard has noticed this themselves now and therefore – so that we really never have to do without the clever head – long ago added the pet Wondrous Wisdom Orb to the game. Many thanks for that.

Jaina Proudmoore
At the end of this list we come to a special case, which is actually not very present, but always loaded to the hat string. We’re talking about Jaina Proudmoore, who instills more hate into the Horde than any other character. Admittedly, nothing good has happened to her from the Horde, and Garrosh in particular took away her last ounce of happiness when he unceremoniously blew up Theramore, angering not only the founder and leader of the island, but also Rhonin as the leader of the Kirin Tor chased over Jordan.

Since all these events, however, Jaina has blown a fuse, especially since Varian Wrynn also died on the Broken Shore. Unable to cooperate with the Horde, even after all the terrible events at the hands of the Legion, Jaina relinquishes her position as leader of the Kirin Tor to Khadgar and disappears from Dalaran. Madness. The word “Dramaqueen” is already echoing through the alleys of Orgrimmar. It is not known where Jaina is at the moment. But she will probably make her big comeback with the upcoming add-on. According to rumors, she will even need the Horde’s help to save Kul Tiras. Let’s see if we still want to answer this call after all this.

And now we want to know your opinion! Who do you consider to be one of the most annoying and therefore most hated characters in World of Warcraft or Warcraft lore? And why can’t you stand this person?
