For your adventure on the WoW Classic servers, you can choose from nine classes, two of which are faction-bound and therefore not available to all heroes. You can find out what other special features there are and what advantages the priests have in our brief overview.
In WoW Classic, you not only have two factions and eight player races to choose from when creating your hero in the summer, but also nine classes. However, there are only eight classes per faction – the Horde player may only play the Shaman, the Alliance player among you the Paladin. What other interesting features there are for the classes, you can read in our short overview. If you want to learn more about WoW Classic, then take a look at our collection article that we have created.
The Mage
The true glass cannons of Classic WoW are the mages, who can deal out a lot of damage with any kind of talent. However, since you can only don cloth armor as a mage, you’ll have a problem if an enemy gets too close. When it comes to weapons, you have a choice between daggers, staffs and swords, and like all other stuffy classes, you can also equip a magic wand. Mages are popular not only for their damage output, but also for their extensive enemy control skills, the ability to travel to all major cities with the help of portals, and… because they can conjure up food for free. Mages benefit the most from armor with many intelligence counters.
The Hunter
Besides the mages, the classic hunters probably fulfill the fantasy standards in WoW. They travel with a companion that you have to feed regularly so it doesn’t run away from you, and they are the only class that mainly uses ranged weapons, namely bows, crossbows and rifles. You can also equip any number of melee weapons, such as spears, daggers, and axes, so you can use the fairly manageable number of melee skills you have. As a pure DpS class, you’ll don cloth, leather and chains and, like wizards, you’ll need a lot of space in your inventory, namely for your ammunition and for the food for your tamed sidekick. By the way, he also has his own talent tree. And who also does even more damage if he has a high attack speed…. As you can see, Classic Hunter is a bit more complex than BfA Hunter. During your adventures you’ll mainly collect agility and stamina armor.
The Shaman
Shamans only exist on the Horde side! Orcs, trolls and tauren can become rulers of the elements. Since shamans are one of the hybrid classes, expect to be used primarily as healers in raids and instances in the endgame, as buffs and elementalists stink compared to pure DpS classes. You can cloak yourself in items of all armor classes, the only exception being plate. However, you use daggers, axes, and maces or staffs as weapons. If you want to be a healer or elemental shaman, then you mainly collect intelligence and willpower equipment. Amplifiers, on the other hand, value strength. In the past, shamans could almost be used as tanks thanks to the reinforcement talents.
But beware. In Classic, boosters placed even more emphasis on the Strength attribute. We have adjusted that.
The Warlock
The warlocks among Classic’s heroes see themselves less as glass cannons like the mages, and more as slightly crazy demon tamers and curse slingers who also risk their own life energy to get fat. Ask a classic wizard about the suppression room in Blackwing Lair…. and how often they got lost in the fray of enemies because the raid’s healers would no longer support the extensive use of Hellfire. As pure DpS machines, you only have to rely on cloth armor as well as daggers, staffs, swords, and wands to equip yourself accordingly. Wizards are popular for their high damage output, healing stones, and ability to summon party members. However, this summoning of companions was a bit more tedious “back in the day” than it is today – each hero had to be summoned individually. Remember to plan enough pocket space for soul shards, because you’ll need them for all sorts of sinister services. As a wizard, you value intelligence and stamina, as you convert life energy into mana through bloodletting. Also remember to have a spell hit ratio of 17 percent for the endgame!
The druid
On paper, the druid gives the impression of being a jack of all trades, a jack of all trades. In practice, druids in Classic raids, like all other hybrids with a healing spec, were doomed to be healers. Occasionally, cats, owls, and bears would stray into raids, but they tended to be the exception. As a shapeshifter par excellence, you put on cloth or leather armor and take up weapons of the types staffs, polearms, two-handed maces and daggers as well as fist weapons.
When it comes to attributes, things get a bit complicated. Healers value willpower and intelligence, while balancers need to also pay attention to their spell hit rating – at least in the endgame. As a bear tank, you’ll take gear with stamina, strength, and armor, while cats prefer agility over strength. But don’t get your hopes up too much, most of the time you’ll probably be spreading heals over time.
The priest
Priests are the classic healers among WoW heroes, the shadow specialization is often only used for leveling, because pure damage dealers are much better off in the damage barometer. You only wear cloth armor, but when it comes to weapons you still have the choice of dashing staffs, one-handed maces and daggers. Wands occupy your ranged slot in Classic. When it comes to attributes, you place particular value on intelligence and willpower.
Priests are the only class with racial class abilities! Here we have a brief overview for you, so that you can get help when choosing your priest’s race:
Human: Desperate prayer heals the priest. Feedback surrounds the Priest with a shield. If the priest is then attacked by a caster, the attacker will be drained of mana per spell and this in turn dealt as damage.
Dwarf: Fear Ward causes the target to be immune to the next fear effect. Desperate prayer heals the priest.
Night Elf : Starshards is an arcane spell that the Priest channels onto an enemy to damage them. Elune’s Grace increases dodge chance by 10 percent when used and reduces ranged damage taken by the priest.
Forsaken: Curse of Weakness reduces the attack power of the afflicted enemy and deals damage. Devouring Plague is a damage over time spell that damages the enemy and in turn heals the priest.
Troll: Hex of Weakness reduces damage dealt by the enemy. Shadowguard encases the Priest in a shield with three charges. The shield deals shadow damage to an enemy with a slight delay, consuming a charge in the process.
the villain
If a villain in PvP in Classic WoW gets the opportunity to unseen attack a poor stuffy, then his victory is already certain. Rogues are masters of the stunlock, which means their opponents in PvP have almost no way of escaping a rogue’s stun effects. But the sneaks, clad in mobility leather armor, are also popular fighters in PvE, primarily in the assassination and fighting orientation (remember: fighting has meant lawlessness since Legion). You should also bring some space in your pockets, for example for thistle tea (for energy regeneration), blinding powder (for blinding), throwing knives or bullets (for ranged pulls) or thirty types of poisons (so that you can of course do more “Dämätsch”). You mainly use one one-handed weapon per hand, such as daggers, swords, Axes or maces to take your damage to the man. Be careful not to neglect the hit rating (at least 24 percent) and the critical hit rating for the endgame in addition to mobility.
The warrior
Even if primarily druids, shamans, paladins and priests were described as hybrids, you also belong to them as warriors. And if you create a warrior who is ideally always in plate armor, we congratulate you: you are the most popular tank in the entire game! However, warriors in the classic endgame were often able to assert themselves as damage dealers, because usually only four to five tanks were needed in the raid and the players then rotated through. You can use almost all types of weapons. However, keep in mind that your attribute choices will change based on your talents. Because if you are a fury warrior, you want to gain strength and mobility, while protection and weapon warriors primarily rely on a combination of strength and endurance – tanks, of course, more on endurance.
.
The Paladin
The paladin can only be played by alliance members, and again only by dwarves and humans. The sacred tin can wear any armor; everything is included, from fabric robes to chic plate doublets. Since plate armor with the attributes willpower and intelligence in particular was rarely found in Classic, healing paladins in particular often scurried through the Molten Core in cloth clothes. The available weapons you can equip include axes, maces, swords, and polearms. In Classic, you only have one resource available to you, mana. This will probably have to be kept to a minimum, especially if you’re playing a healer. Then you value the attributes intelligence and willpower. Although paladins are hybrids, tanks and retaliators rarely find a place in the raid.
