WoW: “TBC Classic will be a walk in the park!”

From Karsten Scholz
When the Blizzard developers announced WoW: Burning Crusade Classic, we kept reading and hearing: this, like WoW Classic, will be a single walk without challenge. The raid instances of Phase 2 now show that this assessment was wrong.

Whether Molten Core, Pitchwing Lair, AQ 40 or Naxxramas: The raid instances of WoW Classic were – from today’s perspective – quite doable. There were indeed guilds, who had their problems here and therebut a large part of the communities fought their way through the content quite successfully. So successful, in fact, that Blizzard Raids with the – Season of the championship significantly heavier would like to make.

A similar assessment was given by many players in the run-up to the release of WoW (buy now ): Burning Crusade Classic ab: “The boss fights and their mechanics are a joke from today’s perspective, this will be another walk in the park!” – such statements we read and heard again and again. And indeed, the raid instances of Phase 1 were still tame. Karazhan, Gruul’s Lair, and even Magtheridon’s Chamber were quickly conquered and could be farmed by many guilds within an evening. Random groups also formed quickly for these raids.

With Phase 2, however, the picture is now completely different. For more than three IDs now, we’ve been allowed to visit the Serpentshrine Cave and the Eye in the Fortress of Storms, and if we look at the stats on Warcraftlogs, we see:

  • Only 3,045 out of 16,417 raid groups counted on Warcraftlogs have been able to defeat the final bosses Lady Vashj and Kael’thas so far.
  • Most guilds are at 8 out of 10 bosses so far (4,950), meaning they have (in most cases) defeated all but the two bosses.
  • Nearly 5,000 communities have “only” been able to knock off 4 to 7 bosses.

A big problem for many communities is that their one or two raid nights from Phase 1 won’t get them very far. Even with three raid nights of three hours each, the average guild will have to work hard to safely knock out eight out of ten bosses and then get enough pulls on one of the final bosses. And that’s exactly what you need to finally defeat Lady Vashj and Kael’thas.
