When Burning Crusade Classic takes us to Outland this year, there will be plenty of tasks, challenges, and rewards waiting for us. There are some particularly important milestones that you should take with you on your way to the new maximum level 70 – in order to save time or to benefit from the associated loot in the best possible way.
Are you one of the WoW fans who want to get started in Outland with the launch of World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade Classic? Are you one of those players who want to get important access permissions for Karazhan, for example, as quickly as possible? To the adventurers who already want to take every important milestone on the way to maximum level 70? If so, you’ve come to the right place! In this guide, we have listed all the important quests and unlocks that you can and should tackle before level 70.
Ræmas from the EU server Everlook has updated his fantastic spreadsheet for dungeon leveling in Burning Crusade Classic, which we recommended in the original article, to a new … well … level. In the meantime, the guide is also available on an extra PHP page called “The Raemas Way” – including a better visual presentation of the info, wowhead links, a new section for horde players and checkboxes for better tracking. We’re giving it several thumbs up and a big thanks for all the work that went into it!
As early as possible: Get these materials
To craft the Shattered Halls Key, which will grant you access to the dungeon of the same name, you’ll need to complete a lengthy series of quests that start in Shadowmoon Vale – namely, by killing Blacksmith Gorlunk to obtain the item Prepared Keyform. In the course of the missions you are supposed to get the following materials, among others:
- 4 x Devil Iron Bars
- 2 x Arcane Dust
- 4 x Fire Particles
If you don’t want to farm these items but buy them from the auction house, you should do it early before word gets out that these items are needed for an important Attunement quest series and then increase in price noticeably.
Level 60: Choose your Tailoring Specialization
All Tailoring masters can go to Shattrath at level 60 to accept the quest for their desired specialization in the Lower Quarter. Note, however, that you must already have a tailoring skill of 350 to be offered the quests by the NPCs:
- How to Become a Mooncloth Cutter by Nasmara Moonwise.
- How to become a Shadow Twine Cutter from Andrion Darkweaver
- How to become a Spellfire Cutter from Gidge Spellcaster
Level 62: Pre-quest for Mag’har – important for Horde
All Horde players should get in good with the Mag’har orcs early on, because only then can you tackle the quests associated with the faction in Nagrand or buy the Talbuk mounts from the faction trader, for example. The fun begins with Thrall’s advisor Nazgrel in Thrallmar, who provides you with the quest The Assassin. Find the corpse to start a quest line that eventually ends with the quest The Mag’har. This way you will achieve a neutral reputation with the Mag’har, which is enough to be able to talk to the various orcs in the Nagrand settlement of Garadar.
Level 65: Master the Arena quest line in Nagrand
At Gurgthock in the north of Nagrand (south of the Ruins of the Laughing Skull), you can start a group questline that requires you to master several battles against arena bosses. The first quest is The Ring of Blood: Butterfly Toe. After that, there are five more challenges that will reward you not only with a lot of experience, gold and potions, but also with a good blue weapon (from a total of six weapons). Don’t wait until level 70 to tackle the arena in Nagrand!
Level 66: Visit the caves of time
At level 66, leave Outland and travel to Tanaris, in the Caverns of Time. There you can start the first quests needed to gain access to the dungeon “The Black Morass”. This dungeon will play an important role in a series of quests that will be available a little later and that will eventually give you access to the Karazhan raid instance.
And why shouldn’t you wait until level 70 to visit the Caverns of Time? Well, one of the quests requires you to let the Keeper of Time guide you through the Caverns of Time for several minutes. Especially on PvP servers, this can be a big frustration factor. Summoning the NPC gives you a debuff that prevents you from summoning the Keeper again for 15 minutes. So if you get knocked out by other players during the quest, you’ll have to wait quite a while before you can start the quest again. The sooner you show up at the caves, the greater the chance that you will be allowed to complete the quest in peace.
Another plus is that the follow-up quest sends you to the Foothills of the Old Hills dungeon, where more experience points and rewards await you. In this way, you’ll eventually gain access to the Black Morass dungeon. Later, when you have the Karazhan quest line on your to-do list, you can skip all the prequests and head straight to Medivh in the Morass.
Level 67/68: Master the dungeon Sethekkhallen
In the south of Shattrath, the desolate ruins of Auchindoun await you, hiding several dungeon entrances. A particularly high priority for you should be an early visit to the Sethekk Halls. Firstly, because you will receive two missions from Isfar outside the dungeon that will lead you into the halls:
- Brother vs.
- Terokk’s Heir
These quests reward you with good, rare items. Secondly, after defeating the final boss Claw King Ikiss, a chest will appear in which you will find the key of the Shadow Maze. You will need to enter the Shadow Labyrinth dungeon at the latest when you tackle the Karazhan quest series mentioned earlier.
Level 68: Start the Karazhan prequest series
Once you reach level 68, you should travel to the Deadwind Pass in the Eastern Kingdoms as soon as possible. At that point, you will be able to start the long quest line with Archmage Alturus, which will eventually grant you access to the 10-player raid instance Karazhan. You can find all the steps of the quest series in the following guide:
- WoW: Karazhan Attunement – how to get the key in TBC Classic.
Level 68: Choose your alchemy specialization
If you want to learn an alchemy specialization with your character, you can get the corresponding quests starting at level 68 and a skill of 325 from Alchemist Grabbel in Honor Hold (Alliance) or Apothecary Antonivich in Thrallmar (Horde). NOTE: Although you will be offered quests for Potion, Elixir, and Transmutation Mastery, you may only complete one quest path and the associated specialization.
General tip: Visit dungeons as often as possible
Already in the leveling phase from level 60 to level 70 you should visit the dungeons of Outland and Caverns of Time as often as possible. The reason: all dungeons are associated with certain factions, and you need the Respectful reputation with the respective faction to be allowed to buy the key for the heroic versions of the associated dungeons.
In the dungeons themselves, however, you’ll only earn reputation particularly efficiently until Benevolent. After that, the fastest way to get to Respectful is to complete quests in the open world that are associated with that faction. However, if you complete most of the quests before you reach Benevolent, only to run dungeons at level 70, it will take much longer to reach Respectful.
What is WoW Classic?
World of Warcraft Classic is a true recreation of the original WoW as you know it from 2006. All parts of the game – from combat mechanics and talent trees to character models and zones – have been recreated, contributing to the authentic experience.
Getting Started
All players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time on their accounts have access to WoW Classic at no additional cost.
- Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the menu.
- Select World of Warcraft Classic from the Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second Account drop-down list. In this column, select the active account you want to play with.
- Click the Install button. The progress bar will tell you when your game is ready to play.
- Click the Play button when the installation is complete.
You will need to select the realm you want to play on from several different realm types. Make sure you choose the same realm as your friends – in World of Warcraft Classic, you can only group with characters that are on the same realm as you!
