When WoW: Burning Crusade Classic Phase 2 launches, all raid enthusiasts will have access to some tremendously powerful class sets, trinkets, and more. We introduce you to some loot highlights from the Serpent Shrine and the Tempest Keep.
The upcoming phase 2 of WoW: Burning Crusade Classic should be a celebration for all raid enthusiasts. With the Serpent Shrine and the Eye in the Tempest Keep, two 25-player challenges finally open their doors, which also have much more to offer than the current Gruul’s Lair and Magtheridon’s Chamber.
As in WoW (buy now) Classic, we want to take another look at TBC Classic and tell you which loot highlights await you in “SSC” and “TK”. Look forward to strong class tier sets, class-specific trinkets and a very special mount.
The special mount from Tempest Keep
As soon as you enter the Eye in Tempest Keep, you can already challenge one of the most visually impressive bosses of the TBC Classic era with Al’ar. If you like the model of the bird, we have good news for you: if you are very lucky, you can ride Al’ar. For this you need the item Ashes of Al’ar , which does not drop from Al’ar, but from the boss Kael’thas Sunstrider.
The Tier 5 class sets
As in Phase 1, a few selected raid bosses from TBC Classic Phase 2 will also drop tokens for specific classes and armor slots, which you can then exchange with the already known NPCs in Shattrath for the respective parts of your Tier 5 class set . Thanks to the PTR, we already know:
Raufgar, Gruul, and Magtheridon will each drop two Tier 4 tokens per kill with Phase 2.
Leotheras, Karathress, Lady Vashj, Void Reaver, and Kael’thas will drop two Tier 5 set tokens from the start.
Overall, the Tier 5 sets will play a bigger role than in Phase 1. There are currently many specializations that rely on crafted gear pieces or other alternatives. The upcoming tier sets outperform the phase 1 items, at least in many cases, provide some strong bonuses and look really good almost across the board . Here are some set bonus highlights:
Many magicians already switched to arcane in phase 1 because this specialization promises enormous damage values in the short fights. Arcane’s potential will increase even more in Stage 2 thanks to the first Tier 5 bonus: 2 pieces: Increases the damage and mana cost of Arcane Blast by 20% .
When rogues can conserve energy through a set bonus, that’s always nice. This also applies to the Death Breath set . 4 pieces: Gives your attacks a chance to make your next finishing move cost no energy .
While offensive warriors will find some strong alternatives outside of the Tier 5 set, protection warriors will want to get four pieces of Destroyer armor in the medium term . This is how they activate the following bonus: 4 pieces: Each time you are hit you have a chance to gain 200 haste rating for 10 sec .
The 2-piece bonus from the Tier 5 set might be a bit lame for amps , but the 4-piece bonus rips it out: 4 pieces: Your Flurry ability increases your attack speed by an additional 5% .
For healing priests, the Avatar’s garb is so good (in terms of stats, sockets, style, and bonuses) that they ditch the Primal Moon cloth set and the White Healer’s Wisdom set for it and carry a whopping five pieces. Here are the two set bonuses: 2 pieces: When your Greater Heal spell fully heals the target, you gain 100 Mana . / 4 pieces: Increases the duration of Renewal by 3 sec .
The best trinkets from the phase 2 raids
Tempest Keep and the Serpent Shrine drop some class-exclusive trinkets, but not all of them have BiS list quality. Here are the best class trinkets:
Warp Source Coil : Not quite as “op” as Gruul’s Dragon Spin Trophy, but for the second trinket slot, villains won’t find anything better in Phase 2.
Solarian’s Sapphire reads unspectacular at first glance, but it can at least be a strong option for supporting Weapon Warriors who need to keep Battlecry active.
Braid of the Serpent ‘s Sling : Arcane Mages’ major weakness is their mana efficiency. The mana gemstones are correspondingly important in their rotation. And accordingly, it makes sense for arcane mages to get this trinket.
And here are some other very powerful trinkets from the Phase 2 Raids that are open to all classes:
Tsunamitalisman : It’s no coincidence that almost all melee and hunters in phase 2 have the Dragon Spine Trophy and Leotheras Trinket on their BiS list. Villains only fall out here thanks to the spool, but if they don’t already have the Gruul trinket, they don’t say “No!” to the talisman either.
Sextant of the Unsteady Current : A very strong trinket for all spellcasters who want to get extremely high spell crit values, i.e. fire mages and elemental shamans.
Earring of Soulful Meditation : While Circle of Healing Priests do better with Stage 1 trinkets, the Dread Below Trinket is a strong option for all Discipline Priests.
The best weapons from the phase 2 raids
Some weapons drop in SSC and TK, which are powerful upgrades to the phase 1 epics.
While rogues will continue to rely on Latro’s Sword of Transformation for their off-hand , for their main hand they should definitely get the Claw of Azshara from Morogrim Tidewalker. But there’s competition with fury warriors. For them, the sword is a very strong off-hand weapon.
The Nexus Key : The Staff of Kael’thas is likely to be at the top of any spellcaster’s wish list. The staff is particularly interesting for balance druids, arcane magicians and elemental shamans.
However, if you prefer to use one-handed weapons and off-hand items, Leotheras will hope for the Leviathan ‘s fang . This applies, for example, to all warlocks and fire magicians.
While cats will continue to rely on Terestian’s Throttle Staff in Stage 2, bears will be hoping for the Great Staff of Feralfury ‘s SSC trash drop .
The Prince’s Healing Flask is very nice, but it looks old compared to Lady Vashj ‘s Scepter of the Depths of Light.
Also from Lady Vashj is the Serpentback Longbow , which is at the top of every hunter’s wish list.
130 DpS, 3 sockets, lots of stamina, AP and crit: The twin blades of the phoenix of Kael’thas is a great choice for all weapon warriors and retribution.
Protection warriors would do anything for more expertise. Alternatively, they simply pull the Tide Mallet from the Dread Below.
If you go into battle with two one-handed weapons and don’t necessarily rely on swords or manufactured blacksmithing weapons, the Fortress of Storms combination of the phoenix’s claw and the Sun King’s rod is interesting. Whereby hunters prefer claw of the phoenix in the off-hand as a pure value carrier .
Finally, the new caster wands: Wand of the Forgotten Star for offense and Glimmering Rod of the Naaru for healers.
The best non-set epics from the phase 2 raids
There are some non-set items from the phase 2 raids that several specializations are keen on.
Belt of the Hundred Dead : Loads of expertise, attack power, agility, stamina and two sockets…this belt from Lady Vashj is pure gold for every melee (even warrior and druid tanks!).
Garb of the Sea Witch: This chest piece also drops from Vashj, which leaves nothing to be desired for offensive spellcasters. Even playstyles keen on a 4-piece bonus from the tier 5 set will consider using the robe as the only non-set piece. Get ready for a lot of competition.
Stranger ‘s Shoulder Pads : Another leather item with Lore that many melee will be keen on.
Verdant Orb : You can exchange the quest item from Kael’thas for necklaces that are really good:/ Telonicus ‘ Chaos Pendant / Eclipser ‘s Grasp / Sun King’s Talisman
