The blood elf is out of the bag: Blizzard has finally announced The Burning Crusade for the WoW Classic servers! Now it is time to prepare for the coming adventure in Outland. This not only includes choosing the right class and way of playing, your profession duo is also extremely important in TBC Classic.
As important as professions are in WoW Classic, they will become even more so as Blizzard revives the era of The Burning Crusade this year . The reason: the manufacturing crafts provide you with exclusive bonuses and goods that have a noticeable effect on your performance in dungeons, raids and in PvP.
More: WoW: TBC Classic – these are the exclusive advantages of all professions
On the one hand, there are professions that are equally interesting for all classes and play styles (jewelcrafting, for example, or enchanting), and on the other hand, you can learn crafts that offer craftable items that are very specific to your specialization and role and that will be the best for a long time represent that you can create in the respective slot.
In this guide, we want to go into the latter professions in particular and tell you which professions are particularly recommended for which classes.
TBC Classic: Is Leatherworking For Drums Mandatory?
Even back then, progress guilds in the Sunwell plateau specifically took leatherworkers with them in order to provide the speed buff for spells, melee and ranged attacks of the drums of battle as consistently as possible throughout the entire raid.
What was then only practiced by the very ambitious guilds is now de rigueur on many TBC private servers. If you click through the squads of successful raids there, you will find a lot of leather processors. On the one hand, this is certainly due to the fact that players nowadays know better how to get the most out of their character, and on the other hand, the level of difficulty on many of the realms has been noticeably increased compared to the original.
It won’t be quite as crisp in TBC Classic, but the developers at the WoW panel at BlizzCon at least promised that many boss debuffs that came into play during the course of TBC will not be active at launch. At the same time, designers for TBC Classic are making adjustments to drums that will prevent at least 20 out of 25 players from skilling Leatherworking just to deploy drums.
Adjustment number 2: All drums not only provide the affected players with the respective buffs, but also with the Tinnitus effect, which prevents them from benefiting from a drum effect again for two minutes. In other words: if you take one leatherworker with you per group, that’s already enough to ensure the maximum effect of the drums (at least if he doesn’t die in battle).
TBC Classic: The best profession for warlocks
For all warlocks who focus on PvE, there is one craft they cannot avoid: Tailoring. They can use the fabrics to make several sets at once, which they will carry right up to Tier 5 or even Tier 6 content.
Shadow Thread Tailoring (for more shadow damage)
Iceshadowweave Robe
Iceshadow Thread Shoulders
Iceshadowweave Boots
Set Bonus (3): Your Frost and Shadow damage spells heal you for 2% of the damage dealt.
Spellcloth Tailoring (for more fire damage)
Spellfire Robe
Spellfire Gloves
Spellfire Belt
Set Bonus (3): Your spell damage is increased by 7% of your total Intellect.
Craftable by any Tailoring Expert
Spellstrike Hood / Spellstrike Pants (Bonus active only with 350+ Tailoring: Gives your damaging spells a chance to increase the damage of your spells and effects by 92 for 10 sec . )
First of all, the sets are demon-strong because they provide you with a lot of spell damage, spell critical hit rating, spell hit rating and numerous socket slots. Secondly, you want to benefit from the 2-piece bonus of the magic strike set for a very, very long time.
For context, at Tier 4 you want to combine the Spellstrike set with two pieces of the Tier 4 set to activate one of the following bonuses:
2 pieces: Your Shadow spells have a chance to grant 135 additional Shadow damage for 15 sec.
2 pieces: Your Fire spells have a chance to increase damage you deal by 135 Fire damage for 15 sec.
To do this, you pack, as far as possible, individual parts of the magic cloth or shadow thread sets. You can’t take the 3-piece bonus with you, but the individual parts are stronger than other options on their own. So strong that Destruction Warlocks can easily do without the Tier 5 set (unless they’re tanking Leotheras with a Soul Link playstyle).
Only the Tier 6 set is an upgrade again thanks to the 4-piece bonus. You’ll also gain access to new recipes like the Sunfire Robe .
TBC Classic: The best profession for magicians
What applies to sorcerers, we can write almost exactly as well for all magicians. Level up tailoring and build yourself depending on your skill
Shadow Thread Tailoring (for more frost damage)
Iceshadowweave Robe
Iceshadow Thread Shoulders
Iceshadowweave Boots
Set Bonus (3): Your Frost and Shadow damage spells heal you for 2% of the damage dealt.
Spellcloth Tailoring (for increased fire and arcane damage)
Spellfire Robe
Spellfire Gloves
Spellfire Belt
Set Bonus (3): Your spell damage is increased by 7% of your total Intellect.
Craftable by any Tailoring Expert
Spellstrike Hood / Spellstrike Pants (Bonus active only with 350+ Tailoring: Gives your damaging spells a chance to increase the damage of your spells and effects by 92 for 10 sec . )
Since Frost is only competitive at the beginning of the TBC era and you should switch to fire or arcane sooner or later, we recommend the magic specialization. Also note that the 2-piece bonus from the Tier 4 set isn’t as strong as its Warlock counterpart. For that, keep in mind the 2-piece bonus from the Tier 5 set, because that alone suddenly makes Arcane very sexy for all mages.
TBC-Classic: The best profession for warriors
As a protection warrior, like we did for Classic, we recommend engineering. The Stage 2 Armor Goggles are really good, and the explosive gimmicks help you build threat across multiple targets.
With an offensive bias, however, you should master Blacksmithing and focus on one of the weapon specializations:
Mace specialization
Dragon Strike (for Fury)
Harbinger of the Storm (for weapons – PvP)
Sword Specialization
Lionheart Judgment Blade (for weapons – PvE)
Attention: The weapons can be upgraded twice in the course of the TBC era and thus remain extremely strong.
TBC-Classic: The best profession for druids
Balance druids mimic the sorcerers and mages and get the following sets:
Spellcloth Tailoring (for increased fire and arcane damage)
Spellfire Robe
Spellfire Gloves
Spellfire Belt
Set Bonus (3): Your spell damage is increased by 7% of your total Intellect.
Craftable by any Tailoring Expert
Spellstrike Hood / Spellstrike Pants (Bonus active only with 350+ Tailoring: Gives your damaging spells a chance to increase the damage of your spells and effects by 92 for 10 sec . )
Tailoring is also a strong choice for all Restoration druids, giving them access to the following sets:
Mooncloth Tailoring
Primal Mooncloth Robe
Primal Mooncloth Shoulders
Primal Mooncloth Belt
Set Bonus (3): 5% of your mana regeneration persists while casting.
Craftable by any Tailoring Expert
Whitemend Hood / Whitemend Pants (Bonus only with 350+ Tailoring active: Increases healing by up to 10% of your total Intellect . )
Most Feral Druids, however, will go into Leatherworking because it can produce several good starter sets (like the Might of the Clefthoof set for bears), useful armor upgrades for pants, and some great epics as well. Here are some examples:
Swiftstrike shoulders
Boots of Total Darkness
Armor from sun and shadow
TBC Classic: The best profession for paladins
Protection paladins are inherently good at tanking groups of enemies, so they don’t get as much engineering out of it as tanking warriors. Still, the grenades help build up a lot of initial aggro right on the pull, allowing Warlocks and Mages to start bombing almost immediately. The epic goggles from phase 2 are a strong option for them too, along with useful trinkets with loads of stamina.
Alternatively (or in addition), you should consider Enchanting to give your rings Formula: Ring – Spellpower . This increases your aggro build-up. Last but not least, blacksmithing is also exciting. Not because of the weapons (unless you want to play vengeance every once in a while, see below), but because of the boot recipes that become available in Tier 5. The protector ‘s tank plate boots boots are really good.
However, Vengeance Paladins definitely want the best possible two-handed weapon, and they can get that through Blacksmithing:
Mace specialization
Harbinger of the Storm (for PvP)
Sword Specialization
Lionheart Straightening Blade (for PvE)
As for the Holy Paladin, you can also consider Tailoring to craft the White Healer pieces and the Mooncloth set. However, keep in mind that your paladin will benefit less from the sets than the other healing specializations. There is simply a lack of critical spell hit chance, so you will exchange the items relatively quickly.
Alternatively, we can also recommend enchanting for the ring enchantments here. If you plan long-term, you should also think about alchemy, because at some point you can upgrade your alchemist stone to the strong alchemist stone of the Redeemer ..
TBC Classic: The best profession for villains
As a villain, you have several options. Like most other melee fighters, you could go into blacksmithing to build the one-handed sword Blazing Wrath (but there are good alternatives via reputation or loot). Or you rely on engineering, for the X11 dead maker glasses from phase 2. You can also use the grenades and dynamite sticks to increase your area damage.
Of course, thanks to the gear (and drums) mentioned earlier, Leatherworking is also a solid choice. And in the long run, even jewelcrafting can pay off if you are allowed to craft items like Hard Khorium Choker , Figurine – Shadowsong Panther, or the Hard Khorium Band.
TBC Classic: The best profession for hunters
No class equips itself for the raid area as easily as the hunter. Obtain four pieces of the blue “Beastlord” dungeon set, which grants you the following bonus at four pieces:
Each time you use your Barrel ability, your attacks ignore 600 of your victim’s armor for 15 sec.
This bonus is so strong that you will want to use the set for a very long time. Leather processing is therefore not very interesting for you, especially for the start of the TBC era. Because of the drums and the later epics, you can of course still choose the profession. All in all, we value engineering even more – due to the Bullseye Goggles v2.0 from phase 2, the ammunition that can be produced and the long-range weapon scopes.
TBC Classic: The best profession for shamans
When it comes to shamans, your choice again depends on your specialization. Enhancement Shamans are keen to learn the Mace specialization, for Dragon Strike . By the way, initially you can only carry the weapon once in TBC Classic, in your main hand. In the last phase at the latest you should be able to put on the upgraded thrashing twice, at least that was the case in TBC at the time.
Unlike the other offensive spellcasters, Elemental Shaman can’t do anything with Tailoring sets. You get the most out of the usual suspects of leatherworking (drums and individual craftable epics), enchanting (ring enchantments) or jewelcrafting (better jewels).
Restoration shamans are a different story, as they initially benefit enormously from Tailoring’s healer sets. Take a look again:
Mooncloth Tailoring
Primal Mooncloth Robe
Primal Mooncloth Shoulders
Primal Mooncloth Belt
Set Bonus (3): 5% of your mana regeneration persists while casting.
Craftable by any Tailoring Expert
Whitemend Hood / Whitemend Pants (Bonus only with 350+ Tailoring active: Increases healing by up to 10% of your total Intellect . )
TBC Classic: The best profession for priests
We don’t have to think long about the priest: all specializations should bring tailoring to the maximum.
Shadow Thread Tailoring (for Shadow Priests)
Iceshadowweave Robe
Iceshadow Thread Shoulders
Iceshadowweave Boots
Set Bonus (3): Your Frost and Shadow damage spells heal you for 2% of the damage dealt.
Craftable by any Tailor Expert (for Shadow Priests)
Spellstrike Hood / Spellstrike Pants (Bonus active only with 350+ Tailoring: Gives your damaging spells a chance to increase the damage of your spells and effects by 92 for 10 sec . )
Mooncloth Tailoring (for Healing Priests)
Primal Mooncloth Robe
Primal Mooncloth Shoulders
Primal Mooncloth Belt
Set Bonus (3): 5% of your mana regeneration persists while casting.
Craftable by any Tailor Expert (for Healing Priests)
Whitemend Hood / Whitemend Pants (Bonus only with 350+ Tailoring active: Increases healing by up to 10% of your total Intellect . )
TBC Classic: The best professions for PvP
If you’re primarily into PvP, many of the craftable gear pieces will quickly depreciate in value. The reason: You want to accumulate as much resilience as possible with most specializations and therefore wear PvP armor.
However, there are two exceptions: a) if you can make a very good weapon through a profession, stick with the profession, b) the epic engineering goggles from phase 2 are really strong for PvP. The reason:
Equip: Slightly increases stealth detection.
Especially in the arena there will be so many villains and druids that this bonus is worth its weight in gold. Incidentally, you are not allowed to use many other engineering items in the arena. However, in Open PvP as well as in the Battlegrounds, you can still get the full potential out of the profession – similar to Classic.
As another useful profession for PvP, we recommend Enchanting. The exclusive ring enchantments provide you with a nice bonus in every situation.
World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade
Burning Crusade has the maximum level in WoW at 70 and brings 2 new playable races (Draenei& Blood Elves). In addition, there is a new continent: The Sheol

World of Warcraft (WoW)
The online role-playing game World of Warcraft (WoW) was released in Europe in 2005 and is an MMO with a subscription payment model. In WoW, players can complete tasks with their characters to improve their hero and meet like-minded players. There are thirteen different races to choose from when selecting a character – six of which belong to only one faction each – as well as eleven classes. In World of Warcraft, players have the opportunity to join the Horde or the Alliance, complete missions and quests with their character in the rich world, and adventure with other heroes in instanced areas for five, ten, and even 25 players. In addition, characters can take up professions, collect pets and mounts, compete against opposing players in battlegrounds and arenas, or simply unwind in the main cities and chat with their guildmates.
