Update from 24 May 2022: Blizzard is apparently tired of watching the Firemaw server from WoW: Burning Crusade Classic get more and more crowded. A few hours ago, Community Manager Kaivax announced that it is now no longer possible to switch to the European realm with a character transfer.

Also, you will only be able to create a character on Firemaw, Kaivax continued, if you already have a character on the server. The reaction of some players under the forum post: This measure comes much too late. Others would like to see other solutions, or at least more insight as far as server capacity is concerned. With Wrath of the Lich King Classic upon us, players on the heavily populated servers should definitely think twice about switching realms.

Original post from May 20, 2022: Already over the last months it was foreseeable: In WoW: Burning Crusade Classic, a constant migration is taking place, from poorly and moderately populated servers to heavily populated servers. Here are the Player numbers for TBC Classic from April 2022. The numbers from the EU server Firemaw are particularly glaring. There are already more than 30,000 active characters in the PvE endgame (in the last ID there were 31,280 characters). That is, of course, far too many.

Full servers and queues

In the official WoW forum, Community Manager Kaivax has now summarized the situation on Firemaw once again: All servers have an upper limit of players that can be online at the same time. If a server is full, all other players end up in a queue. But even this queue contains only a maximum number of players. If this limit is also reached, further players are completely denied access.
The fact that something like this happens usually only ever occurs over a short period of time. This is because there is something that Blizzard calls “queue pressure”. WoW (buy now ) is not much fun when you are in a queue like that. Or to put it another way: It’s better to play on a less populated server than not at all. Over the last few weeks, however, it has been observed that “a non-negligible number of “Burning Crusade Classic” players are constantly trying to play on this one realm.”

Kaivax therefore emphasizes once again that there is the possibility to transfer for free with all characters from Firemaw to other servers, and he encourages all concerned to use this service to alleviate the population problem. You can access the following EU realms from Firemaw for free:

• Golemagg
• Mandokir
• Mograine
• Patchwork
• Razorgore
• Sulfuron
• Transcendence
• Venoxis

Kaivax also explains that layers cannot be used to solve the problem. The number of layers is always based on how many players are in the open world outside of the instances. On Firemaw, four layers are constantly necessary because you are constantly at the player cap here. Offering more layers doesn’t help, because even then more players won’t get onto the realm. The server hardware is the limiting factor here.
