WoW: TBC-Classic – Be sure to try these skills in the pre-patch

With the pre-patch for WoW: Burning Crusade Classic, we get access to the expanded talent trees, but are still only allowed to invest 51 talent points. We introduce you to some PvE skills that you should definitely try.

Finally, we get access to the class design and the talent trees from patch 2.4.3, in which we can distribute 51 talent points. In addition, we are now allowed to leave more debuffs on our targets .

All of this combined with the pre-patch allows completely new skills for the next visits to raid instances such as Naxxramas. In the following we want to introduce you to some of the most exciting PvE skills that you should definitely try out in the pre-patch.

Hunters in Pre-Patch: Take Beast Mastery to the Top
The hunter gets a lot of love with Burning Crusade Classic, for example in the form of reasonably scaling companions. They also gain access to new, very powerful talents and abilities such as Steady Shot (unfortunately only from level 62). The significantly improved potential of the hunter should already be noticeable in the pre-patch, especially if you use a beast ruler spec and further strengthen your pet.

Exciting talents in the Beast Lord tree include Beast Discipline , Train Beasts , Wild Intuition , Serpent ‘s Agility and Wild Heart . Here’s what a strong talent build for the pre-patch could look like:

For the last four points you have several options to choose from. If you’re the hunter casting Hunter’s Mark on a target, you should put the points into Enhanced Hunter’s Mark. Other solid options include monster slaying , humanoid slaying , or Hawkeye in the Survival tree.

Villain in Pre-Patch: Is Mutilation worth it?
Most villains in the WoW Classic era may have flirted with an assassin skill that relies on the Seal Fate talent . Unfortunately, there has not been a single phase in which such a style of play could keep up with the combat variants in terms of damage.

With the pre-patch, however, two new Backstab talents are coming on board: Find Weakness and, of course, Mutilate . A corresponding spec could look like this with the pre-patch:

Even with this new spec, you won’t be able to keep up with combat villains that take surprise attacks and combat power with them . According to the simulations, these are almost 100 DpS (fight with BiS daggers) or almost 200 DpS (fight with BiS swords) before the mutilation skill. However, if you’re the villain in the raid who keeps Improved Armor Weaken active for the other melee fighters, then the talent distribution shown above could be an exciting option for you. With Mutilate and Seal Fate you simply build up combo points very quickly. Here are a few details to keep in mind:

Skin the Deadly Poison pre-patch on your off-hand and Instant Poison on your main hand (if no Shaman is in the party)
Opens with chokes if possible .
Should you ever be able to fit a third finisher, Bleed is now a better choice than Eviscerate .
Use the slowest possible daggers in both hands so that Mutilate deals as much damage as possible.
If you get too little hit chance via equipment, you can put the three points from Improved Chopping into Precision . According to the simulations, both variants are almost the same in terms of DpS.
Shaman in Pre-Patch: Elemental and Mana? This works out!
For very short phases, elemental shamans in WoW (buy now) Classic achieve very high damage numbers. However, the non-existent mana efficiency killed and kills any gameplay in longer PvE fights. Luckily, the pre-patch has a savior in the form of the Relentless Storm talent , which scales extremely well with world buffs and class buffs.

There are also other exciting new additions like Elemental Precision , Lightning Overload and of course the Totem of Rage (which your offensive spellcasters will be fighting over). Here is our talent recommendation:

Warrior in the pre-patch: killing machine with options
The warrior is the most popular class in WoW Classic and that will continue to be the case in the pre-patch. And since many raid groups will continue to bring many warriors and rogues to Naxxramas, a warrior in the raid should definitely focus on weapon specialization. The reason: Bloodlust . A possible spec could look like this, though of course you’ll have to adjust the weapon specialization depending on the weapons:

All other offensive warriors should think about a talent distribution strongly focused on Bloodlust to get powerful new additions such as Wrath , Improved Berserker Stance , Weapon Mastery or Marksmanship .

This way you’ll have to give up Piercing, but at the same time you’ll save a lot of filler talents that have little or no impact on your damage.

Priests in the pre-patch: Mana battery coming!
Shadow priests still don’t have it easy in WoW Classic. The debuff spells on enemies are insufficient up front and behind, the mana efficiency of the gameplay is poor, and the bottom line is that the support for others is not strong enough to compensate for the meager damage. However, the picture will change with the pre-patch.

Focused Thoughts make for cheaper spells, with Shadow Casting, Misery, and Vampire Touch there are now several reasons why other spellcasters will want you in the raid, and you won’t have to worry much about the debuff slots either. Put all your points into shadows:

Druid in the pre-patch: what can the owl do?
Aside from speedrun guilds that only allow optimal raid setups, you’ll regularly run into cats and bears in WoW Classic, and druids cut a good figure as healers anyway. The biggest problem so far has clearly been balance. The specialization is not allowed to cast spells like moonfire, the mana efficiency is lousy, and the same goes for the damage, which is hardly increased by other classes either. Fortunately, the situation for Mondkins will improve noticeably with the pre-patch.

Paladins in the pre-patch: Protection instead of Holy
Since launch, most paladins have probably taken on the role of healer in their raid groups. Exceptions like Esfand prove the rule. However, this is supposed to change with the pre-patch. Retribution and Protection are getting noticeable upgrades that pull them out of the meme drawer. Since we find the tank specialization particularly exciting due to its farming potential, let’s now turn our attention to the new Paladin tank.

A big problem with “Prot Paladins” in Classic is their poor mana efficiency. However, this is noticeably improved in TBC with the passive upgrade Harmony of Spirit. Unfortunately, the better rank 2 version is only available from level 66, but rank 1 should already be enough to get this construction site out of the way. Then there are new additions to the talent tree like Holy Duty , Improved Holy Shield , Tireless Defender , Combat Expert and of course Avenger Shield . This is what a good talent distribution might look like before the patch:

World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade

Burning Crusade has the maximum level in WoW at 70 and brings 2 new playable races (Draenei& Blood Elves). In addition, there is a new continent: The Sheol

The Burning Crusade is the first expansion for the successful MMORPG World of Warcraft (WoW) from the developer studio Blizzard. The add-on introduces a new continent called Outland. There are also new races. The Blood Elves for the Horde and the Draenei for the Alliance. The classes Paladin and Shaman are now also playable for both factions. Furthermore, the expansion brings an increase in the level limit from 60 to 70 as well as flying mounts.

World of Warcraft (WoW)

The online role-playing game World of Warcraft (WoW) was released in Europe in 2005 and is an MMO with a subscription payment model. In WoW, players can complete tasks with their characters to improve their hero and meet like-minded players. There are thirteen different races to choose from when selecting a character – six of which belong to only one faction each – as well as eleven classes. In World of Warcraft, players have the opportunity to join the Horde or the Alliance, complete missions and quests with their character in the rich world, and adventure with other heroes in instanced areas for five, ten, and even 25 players. In addition, characters can take up professions, collect pets and mounts, compete against opposing players in battlegrounds and arenas, or simply unwind in the main cities and chat with their guildmates.
