WoW: Karazhan guide with tips on all bosses and attunement

As one of the first raids in WoW The Burning Crusade Classic, the raid instance Karazhan offers challenges for ten players and sends you into the tower of Medivh, the magical guardian of Tirisfal, who has established his domicile in the mountain pass of the winds of death. We have on all the bosses and trash as well as attunement in the Karazhan .

You want to visit the first “big” raid of WoW Burning Crusade Classic? Then brace yourself, because before you rush into the 10-player spectacle, you’ll have to prove your stamina and courage. While the 25-player raids with Magtheridon, High King Maulgar and Gruul are more of a warm-up exercise for ambitious Outland raiders, Medivh’s old home Karazhan is the first real raid challenge – but only for ten heroes per squad. Of course, you should always keep that in mind. It’s also important to note that you must first qualify your heroes to visit the tower, which is both magical and cursed. How do you do that? You can find out in our guide, of course!

The Attunement for Karazhan

Off to the mountain pass of the winds of death!

WoW: Karazhan guide with tips on all bosses and attunementYou can start the Attunement quest line for Karazhan at character level 68. To do so, visit Archmage Alturus in the Mountain Pass of the Winds of the Dead. You will find the NPC just outside the entrance to Karazhan. From Alturus you will receive the first two quests, which are important for you.

For the mission “Arcane Disturbances” you should create two records in the cellars under Karazhan. While you’re doing that, for the other quest, “Restless Activity,” you’ll almost incidentally obtain ten Ghostly Essences from the enemies you’ll beat away – or conjure away, depending on your class. In the ruins of the village directly in front of the tower you’ll find the two staircases that lead to the cellar vaults.

Descend the northern staircase first and keep to the right until you come across a well where you make the first record. Kill all the ghosts along the way for the essences. The same applies to the area near the southern stairs. On this path you will come to an underground lake where you will make the second record. After that, go back to the archmage and give him the items.

Errands and the first key fragment

Alturus has the next task for you: “Dalaran Contacts”. Go to the Alterac Mountains and contact Archmage Cedric at the edge of Dalaran Crater. As soon as you have given him the report, you are to speak with Archmage Khadgar in Shattrath. You will find the renowned mage (and ex-apprentice of Medivh) on the Terrace of Light.

This will provide you with the mission “To Karazhan”, for which you will have to team up with other players for the first time. In the Outland dungeon Shadow Labyrinth, you have to retrieve the first key fragment from a hidden arcane container. However, you will not be allowed to enter the Shadow Maze until you defeat the final boss, Claw King Ikiss, in Sethekk Halls and take the Shadow Maze key from a nearby chest.

Now go to the Shadow Maze, defeat final boss Murmur, then prepare for another fight and open the Arcane Container in Murmur’s room at the back of the wall. Now the guardian of the first part appears, which you have to defeat to get your First Key Fragment. With the fragment in your pocket, visit Khadgar again, who will provide you with the quest “The Second and Third Fragments”.

The Attunement for the Arkatraz

The other two fragments are also located in Outland dungeons, and for one of them – the Arkatraz in the Fortress of Storms – you must first obtain the attunement.

To do this, travel to the Netherstorm in Area 52, where you’ll be given the quest “Consortium Crystal Collection” by Nether Stalker Khay’ji. This is followed by a long series of quests that will first set you a series of tasks in Netherstorm. Once you’ve mastered all the missions, you’ll eventually end up with A’dal in the center of Shattrath, who will provide you with the quest “How to Break into Arkatraz.”

To complete the new mission, you’ll need to get the lower and upper fragments of the Key to Arkatraz, respectively, from the final boss in both the Mechanar and Botanika dungeons. Since the dungeons are also located in the Fortress of Storms, you will need a flight mount to reach the respective entrances without a port.

Once the two fragments are in your inventory, A’dal will give you the key to Arkatraz. Now you can get the remaining fragments of the Karazhan key for Khadgar.

The second and the third fragment

In the Arkatraz, for once you don’t have to fight your way to the final boss. You’ll find the corresponding key fragment in the room behind the first boss, Zereketh the Independent. Note that the opening of the Arcane Vessel will also cause a guard to appear here, who is rather more difficult to overpower solo.

For the final key fragment, head to the Zangarmarshes, or more specifically, the underground Lizard Cauldron. Enter the Steam Chamber dungeon and knock the first boss Water Summoner Thespia off her feet. The Arcane Vessel is underwater, near the boss platform. Defeat this guardian as well, bag the fragment and bring all the pieces to Khadgar.

The Attunement for the Black Morass

WoW: Karazhan guide with tips on all bosses and attunementThe key of the apprentice is restored, but it still needs to be activated. Khadgar therefore sends you to Medivh with the quest “The Touch of the Master”, which you can find in the Caves of Time in Tanaris. Unfortunately, there is a complication here as well.

Medivh is in the Black Morass dungeon, and you can’t just walk into it. Therefore, in the Caves of Time, first talk to Steward of Time to get the task “To the Master’s Hoard”. This is followed by a conversation with Andormu and a longer walk through the caves alongside the Keeper of Time until you finally complete “The Caves of Time”.

Next, your path will lead you back to Andormu, who will send you to the local dungeon, Foothills of the Old Hill Country, with “The Old Hill Country.” Once in the dungeon, talk to Erozion and complete all the objectives within the dungeon until you finally save Thrall and defeat the final boss. In return, Andormu will now provide you with the task “The Black Morass” and permission to enter the dungeon of the same name.

Final steps towards Karazhan

With the quests “The Black Morass” and “The Touch of the Master” you will now join a group for the Black Morass. In the dungeon you will meet the guardian Sa’at, who will exchange the former quest for “The Opening of the Dark Portal”. You are to defend Medivh and witness the opening of the Dark Portal.

If you master this quest, you will finally complete the requirement for “The Master’s Touch” and be able to return to Khadgar. He will give you the Master’s Key, which will allow you to explore the walls of Karazhan. And to give you a good reason to visit the raid instance, you will also receive the quest “The Violet Eye”, which will lead you back to Alturus at the Mountain Pass of the Winds of Death.
