WoW Have WoW Classic servers led to better handling

we witnessed a remake of a special kind: took us to a decelerated Azeroth from 2004. Has the associated return to old virtues led to better interaction within the community? We look forward to your opinion!

World of Warcraft (buy now) caused several surprises in 2019 – on the one hand, the re-release of WoW Classic led to an (apparent?) revival of old virtues. On the other hand, the direct comparison of the WoW versions reveals which aspects work and which do not.

At this point, however, I don’t want to start a new discussion about which WoW version is better – these are simply tiresome. Today I am more interested in taking stock of the following thesis, which seemed to be omnipresent before the release of the Classic server: ” WoW Classic will – due to the server and ecosystem and the associated reputation – lead to a more considerate and nicer interaction with the players “.

The social fabric in World of Warcraft
The behavior of people on the Internet and the resulting social structure is a very exciting phenomenon. This place of (apparently!) consequence-free action also influences the behavior of the users – the result: the inhibition threshold sinks and the ego rises. True to the motto: ” Once the reputation is ruined, life is unabashed “.

Last June I wanted to know from you how “toxic” the current WoW community in “Battle for Azeroth” is. I followed the discussions that followed with great interest.

Some buffed.de readers, such as ” Snowhawk “, were convinced that the community was already toxic in Classic times. Reader ” Dyrian123 “, on the other hand, predicted in June that the (now published) Classic servers would become a “big kindergarten” in which the server structure would only reinforce people’s double standards. The question was also raised – by the reader ” Mayestic ” – whether one could rebuild a reputation in Classic and how this would affect the behavior of the players.

On the other hand, other panellists, such as ” Variolus “, saw more of a fundamental problem behind people’s behavior on social media, which would also exist across all media. In any case, the general tenor seemed to be that the anonymity of the server-spanning structures (in Battle for Azeroth) pushed the person behind the avatar into the background. But has that changed in WoW Classic?

Status Quo – Community in WoW Classic
Now that a few months have passed and the WoW Classic servers are still enjoying great popularity, it is time to take stock. On the one hand, some ninjalooting actions (e.g. by the WoW guild “Olympus” of the Twitch.tv streamer “Asmongold” ) became public, which caused a great media outcry. On the other hand, I could (both personally and through stories) notice numerous positive changes in the behavior of the players towards one another – helpfulness, politeness and composure were, in my opinion, very present.

Today I would therefore like to know from you, dear buffed.de readers:

What experiences have you had in dealing with WoW players on the WoW Classic servers?
Have you noticed positive changes to “Battle for Azeroth” (and the associated conversion of the server and ecosystem)?
Or is “everything the same” at the end of the day anyway?

What is WoW Classic?

is a true recreation of the original WoW as you know it from 2006. All parts of the game – from combat mechanics and talent trees to character models and zones – have been recreated, contributing to the authentic experience.

Getting Started

All players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time on their accounts have access toWoW Classic at no additional cost.

  1. Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the menu.
  2. Select World of Warcraft Classic from the Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second Account drop-down list. In this column, select the active account you want to play with.
  3. Click the Install button. The progress bar will tell you when your game is ready to play.
  4. Click the Play button when the installation is complete.

You will need to select the realm you want to play on from several different realm types. Make sure you choose the same realm as your friends – in World of Warcraft Classic, you can only group with characters that are on the same realm as you!
