WoW Guides – Ulduar – General Vezax – Normal/Hardmode

After bringing the four guardians of Ulduar back to their senses, you can descend into the Madness where the last two mandatory bosses of the instance await. Before that, however, some cultists will stand in your way. Any kind of opponent control is required here. Kill the melee classes first and the caster classes last.

You will also encounter three faceless horrors on your way, which will gradually burn your mana. They shoot a shadow missile at a player who is not in melee range. This missile deals shadow damage in the area of impact and knocks you back. You can easily dodge the missile, which is good practice for Vezax since he has the same ability. At 50 percent hit points , the terror becomes immune to all damage and spawns a void beast . This leaves a shadow nova on deathgo, which throws you back. Just make sure you don’t get thrown into nearby groups of enemies, and then deal damage to the Faceless again.

Capability
Impact (Heroic Mode)
aura of despairPrevents mana regeneration from almost all natural sources. Only the abilities Aspect of the Viper, Sage’s Judgment, Shamanistic Rage, and Mind Attunement remain at least partially effective. The aura also reduces your melee attack speed by 20 percent.
Searing FlamesDeals 13875 to 16125 points of Fire damage to all players and reduces their armor by 75 percent for 10 seconds. You can interrupt the spell.
suction of darknessIncreases Vezax’s melee damage by 100 percent, but reduces its movement speed to 45 percent.
shadow floorThe projectile is fired at a random player’s location. All players within ten yards of the impact point suffer 11310 to 12690 points of Shadow damage. At the point of impact there is also a black puddle in which you can cast faster, deal more magic damage and have less mana costs. However, your healing done is reduced.
Mark of the FacelessA debuff cast on a player. Nearby comrades take 5,000 points of shadow damage every second, healing the boss for 100,000 hit points.

tactics

With a few exceptions, the fight against General Vezax is a typical tank and spank match. It hits the tank quite hard, but its attack speed is quite low. The General emits an aura that prevents mana regeneration from almost anything, such as Mp5, Willpower, or other class skills . Only Aspect of the Viper, Sage’s Judgment, Shamanistic Rage, and Spirit’s Attunement work in reduced versions

Over time, up to eight saronite fumes will appear in the room . Kill the clouds and green puddles will appear. If you stand in the puddles, you convert part of your life points into mana . The longer you stand in the steam, the higher the stack of Saronite Fumes, which deals damage to you. You should leave the puddle after the seventh charge at the latest , since the eighth will most likely kill you. Life to mana conversion is calculated as follows:

chargingRegenerated manaDamage taken
1

2
200400

4

6
3,2006,400
7

Note that without healing, you have already taken 12,600 points of damage after the sixth tick. Another charge would probably kill you. Vezax occasionally shoots a shadow missile at a random player. This creates a black cloud for 20 seconds where you deal 100% more magic damage and can cast spells twice as fast. In addition, your mana cost is reduced by 70 percent. Healers, however, have no business in the clouds, as their healing is reduced by 75 percent. Once a black cloud is on the ground, some players should enter it to benefit from the positive effects.

However, watch out in case a new missile is fired at one of these players. In this case, run away until the missile arrives, otherwise you will be thrown back and suffer shadow damage. Occasionally, the boss will mark a player with the Mark of the Faceless. The affected player grabs his feet and runs backwards out of the raid. Any other player who gets too close to the affected player takes 5,000 points of damage per second and heals Vezax for 100,000 points per “tick”. The more players take this damage, the more the boss heals.

Melee fighters are also given a special task. As soon as Vezax casts his Searing Flames, you must interrupt him. Otherwise, the entire raid will take about 15,000 points of fire damage, while everyone’s armor will be reduced by 75 percent.

Occasionally, the boss will equip a Dark Wake, which deals double damage but runs slower. This is where your tank comes in handy, moving away from the boss immediately until the buff wears off. The trigger is heralded by Vezax, who shouts, “I have the black blood of Yogg-Saron in me. I AM UNSTOPPABLE!”

Class Tanks

  • Put on the most stamina-intensive gear possible and avoid as much damage as possible with your skills. When the boss casts the maelstrom of darkness, rush away.

Healers

  • Keep the tank alive and replenish your mana with the vapors. It is best to take turns with the vapors so that the tank always has enough healers.

Damage Dispenser

  • Do what you do best: Deal damage. However, make sure you always run away from your teammates when you receive the Mark of the Faceless.
