WoW Guide Wailing Caverns

In World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the Wailing Caverns instance is one of the most challenging in the low tier range. The huge cave system offers you a total of eight boss encounters with lots of useful loot for your character. In our guide, we explain how you can successfully face off against the bosses and what items they leave behind for you.

Preparation
The Wailing Caverns lie to the west of the Northern Barrens and have remained untouched by the effects of the Cataclysm. Enter the cave at the Forgotten Pools and fight your way through the deviate raptors. Once you have reached a huge cave full of tropical plants, turn right and enter the instance. The quest givers of the caves are already waiting for you right in the entrance area of the dungeon.

Lady Anacondra (1)
You can reach Lady Anacondra when you have passed the raptors and ectoplasm and turn left in the large cave. Before you attack the lady, you get rid of the fang druid, who is wandering in circles around his mistress. Then it’s up to the lady herself. Anacondra continually empowers itself with thorns, dealing 20 points of Nature damage to melee fighters with each strike. Be careful not to kill yourself with it. In between, she puts a randomly selected group member into a sleep state. She also attacks her target with melee attacks and lightning strikes.

SleepPuts the target in a sleep state for up to 20 seconds. Taking damage wakes the target.

Kresh the Turtle (2)

After killing the lady, jump into the small river in the middle and look for the turtle Kresh. Meanwhile, you eliminate the deviate crocolisks and ectoplasms in the immediate vicinity. Kresh himself only attacks in close combat and has no special abilities.

Lord Kobrahn (3)
Once you’ve defeated Kresh, follow the river west. After fighting your way through serpents and druids to the end of the winding passageway into the fang pit, Lord Kobrahn awaits you there. Like Lady Anacondra, he strikes in melee combat, casts lightning bolts, and puts individual party members to a sleep state. If his life points are near the end, he also turns into a snake and attacks you with stronger melee attacks and poison.

Lord Pythas (4)
After Kobrahn’s demise, at the northern end of the fang pit, jump back down over the ledges to the crocolisks. Along the creek to the east of you we now continue to the next part of the instance, where Deviate Shamblers, more druids and Deviate Punishers are waiting for you. Arriving in the winding abyss, the path forks. If you turn right, you choose the shorter path through a small lake. In the northeast corner of the winding chasm dwells Lord Pythas, guarded by a druid and a shambler. Dispose of the guards and then deal with Pythas. The lord strikes very quickly with two weapons, occasionally casting a thunderclap that deals high damage and reduces the attack and movement speed of those hit by 40 percent.

Skum (5)
From Lord Pytha’s remains, first keep to the left and then choose the corridor that leads east. A little further straight ahead and a few trash enemies later, you are in front of the enclosure of the thunder lizard Skum. After you eliminate the guards in front of the gate, the tank Skum takes over in the middle of the gate. The rest of the group members spread out generously in the battle area so that Skum’s chain lightning doesn’t jump to your fellow players. At about 15 percent of his life points, Skum tries to flee – but after a few meters decides to attack you again.

Lord Serpentis (6)
Now head west from Skum’s gate, where some druid groups and plants await you. Jump over the Cliff of the Everliving and follow the path to a large platform. There are two bosses there. Lord Serpentis, like his peers before, casts lightning bolts and sleep spells. Other than that, he doesn’t have any abilities that you need to watch out for.

Directly to the left of Serpentis is the giant plant creature Verdan the Everliving. His only ability, besides strong melee attacks, are the grasping tendrils. With this area attack, it damages nearby players, knocking them over and tying them in place for five seconds. Healers and ranged fighters therefore keep as much distance as possible from Verdan.
