WoW Guide: Trial of the Champion – 5 players

You enter the Master Exam instance through the northern entrance of the Argent Coliseum in Icecrown. Lazy heroes will feel at home in this dungeon, as it consists of only one room.

Accordingly, there’s not much room for standard enemies or sophisticated boss tactics. Instead, after each fight, simply talk to the fight organizer, Jaeren Sunsworn, to have him call the next baddies to the arena. However, you won’t encounter the same enemies in each round. For example, in the second skirmish you’ll beat up either Priestess Blondelocke or Paladin Eadric – you won’t encounter both of them at the same time.

The difficulty levels of the normal and heroic editions of the Trial of the Champion are based on level 80 instances, such as the Halls of Stone. However, you don’t need a special party composition. With a tank, a healer, and three players doing decent damage, you’ll be well equipped. Speaking of armor, you can loot 200 and 219 level epic items in the instance.

Please note that this is based on the latest version of the test servers for Patch 3.2 and details are still subject to change.

Tactics
At the beginning of the encounter, you’ll have to prove your saddle strength. As in the daily Argentum quests, you’ll compete against NPC opponents who want to knock you off your horse. The animals are ready against the wall, and there are lances in the weapon racks next to them. Once you have grabbed a horse and set up a shield with “Defend”, you talk to the organizer.

Now three of five possible champion groups enter the arena – each consisting of a grand champion of one of the five races of the opposing faction and three henchmen. The minions fight in groups of three and can be quickly eliminated. Once the teams are defeated, the Grand Champions join the fight together.

Always keep your shield up and use shield breakers to shatter the champions’ shields. Then attack the opponent. If you lose your nag, you can quickly get another one. The three champions should go down as soon as possible, otherwise they will also get a new horse and rejoin the fight.

Once the bosses are defeated, you automatically get off your horse and fight again – this time using your own abilities. Champions also use the abilities of their respective classes: warrior, shaman, hunter or mage. Don’t let this bother you and take them out one by one.
