In 2022, you will once again be taking an orphan on an adventurous journey during WoW Children’s Week. In our Children’s Week Guide, we’ll explain the places you’ll need to take your charges, and the pets and achievements you’ll be able to pick up during the holiday.
The orphanages of the WoW capitals Orgrimmar, Stormwind, Shattrath Dazar’alor, Boralus and Dalaran celebrate their Open Day every year in May. During this time, you can give the orphans a real treat. Take a child on an adventurous journey and you will receive a small thank you from them – especially pet collectors are keen on the rewards.
Update 2022 : Blizzard has not changed or added any new features to the event this year. Here’s the short overview, you’ll find the details afterwards:
When: May 2-9
Level: Available for characters level 10 and above
Where:
- Kul Tiran and Zandalari: Orphan Matron Westerson in Boralus begins the Kul Tiran Orphan quest line; Padae in Zuldazar begins the new Zandalari Orphan quest line.
- Human and Orc: Orphan Matron Nightingale in Stormwind; Orphan Matron Slaughterbeast in Orgrimmar.
- Draenei and Blood Elf: Orphan Matron Gracious in Shattrath
- Wolvar and Oracle: Orphan Matron Aria in Dalaran
Taking the time to show the orphan around will help both the child and you. Once you’ve completed all of the quests in this event, you can choose from several pets to add to your collection of battle pets:
- Boralus and Zuldazar: Mr. Krabbs, Schnabelbert, Fröschli and Sauri.
- Orgrimmar and Stormwind: Schnurri the Rat, Flinky, Finchen the Snail, and Dr. Wiggle.
- Shattrath: Columbus, Peanut, Willy and Little Leg.
Dalaran (North End): Curious Gorloc Cub and Curious Wolvar Cub.
If you have already collected all of these pets over the years, you will receive the Pet Care Pack instead. It contains several items, including pug costumes, magical treats, and a flawless battle stone.
Visit Administrator Padae in Dazar’alor (coordinates 53.7/84.8) and accept the Children’s Week quest. You will then receive the Casteless Zandalari’s Pipe, which you can use to summon the Orphan. You must be level 110 to accept the quest. Once you have used the whistle, you can accept three new quests from the orphan:
- Loa of the Winds
- The Frog Marshes
- The mutable pack
If you complete these, the next two quests beckon:
- The Sethrak Queen
- Hunting for Gold
Finally, bring back the orphan for Return to the Hall of Castes to pick one of the following rewards:
- Slimy Pouch
- Enchanted Saurolisk Scale
- Curmudgeon’s Bribe
- Beakbert
- Sandy Hermit Crab Shell
- Pet care package
The Children’s Week in Boralus
You can get the Alliance version of the Children’s Week quest from Orphan Matron Westerson in Boralus (coordinates 48/40.2). Call your orphan with the Kul Tiranian Orphan’s Whistle and you can take the next three quests:
- The Mountain Folk
- Yo Ho, Yo Ho!
- The Squid Shrine
After that you will continue with the next two quests:
- Bird Friends
- Shapeshifters!
Return the orphan for Return to the Orphanage and you can choose from the following rewards:
- Slimy Pouch
- Enchanted Saurolisk Scale
- Curmudgeon’s Bribe
- Beakbert
- Sandy Hermit Crab Shell
- Pet care package
Achievement hunters can collect some Achievements. We’ll show you which places you have to take your protégés to and which gifts you’ll receive in return in our Children’s Week Guide. You’ll also find out how to best tackle the achievements of Children’s Week. By the way: In 2010, Northend, Outland, and Azeroth Kids’ Weeks were combined and held at the same time – if you haven’t bagged any of the Dalaran pets yet, you should definitely visit Dalaran. Since 2011, the quest can be repeated, so you can also grab the other companion – or Magic Treat if you already have all the pets.
Orphanages of the Old World
Horde followers will find Orphanmatron Slaughterbe in the alley outside the Orphanage (coordinates: 58,58). Alliance followers will visit Orphan Matron Nightingale in Stormwind (coordinates: 56,55) at – you guessed it – the Orphanage. Visit the matrons of your faction to take an orphan under your wing and visit the most adventurous places with the little ones. Of course, at the end of the quest series, there will be a small reward for your kindness. You can choose between Dr. Wackel’s pig collar, Schnurri’s rat cage or Flinky’s turtle box. In addition, there is a snail shell that you can use to summon Snail Fine. Not an animal lover? Then choose Curmudgeon’s Bribe and you’ll be rewarded with gold pieces.
The orphanage in Shattrath
You can find the orphanage of Shattrath in the east of the Lower Quarter. There, Orphan Matron Gracious (coordinates: 75,48) runs the orphanage for children whose parents died in the war. Seek out the Orphan Matron, as she will have Horde representatives babysit a blood elf orphan named Salandria. Alliance members may show the draenei child Dornaa around. Please the parentless children and accompany them to places they have only heard stories about. Of course, your efforts will not go unrewarded. You can choose between Sleepy Willy , Elekkhalsband , Beinchen or Egg of Columbus.
The Children’s Week in Dalaran
Since 2009, Orphan Matron Aria has been waiting for you at the Evening Well of Dalaran to give you one of two quests, depending on your choice. If you accept a quest, you will accompany either Kekek of the Wolvar or Roo of the Oracles to some of the most famous personalities from World of Warcraft (buy now ). Once you have completed the quest series, you will be rewarded with Curious Gorloc Cub or Curious Wolvar Cub, depending on your companion. Children’s Week in Dalaran takes place at the same time as Children’s Week in Azeroth and Outland. Note: You can take the second quest and earn the other companion since 2011!
WoW Kids Week: Achievements
Since the introduction of achievements in World of Warcraft, you can earn a title for Children’s Week. If you complete six specific Achievements and prove that you have a heart for children, you can call yourself “Patron” or “Matron”. Here we list all the achievements for Children’s Week and give some tips on how to complete them. The “Veteran Animal Keeper” is not a prerequisite for the title. Since the achievements require you to care for an orphan entrusted to you during the quests, you should tackle the achievements before completing all of the Children’s Week quests.
Home Alone
Use the Rest Stone while your orphan is with you.
Bad role model
Eat the listed candies while your orphan watches. You can get the Tigules and Foror’s Strawberry Ice Cream in both Stormwind and Orgrimmar. The Delicious Tartlet and Delicious Chocolate Cake can be baked by a talented chef. Red Fruit Tart, Piece of Punch Cake, Dalaran Brownie and Dalaran Donut can be purchased from Aimee in Dalaran. Keep in mind, however, that many of the treats require a certain character level before you can devour them.
Daily Quests
Complete five daily quests while your orphan is at it.
Oh, isn’t that sweet?
Receive one of the Children’s Week reward pets. Learn how to complete the quests in our quest guides for all Orphans of the Old World, Outland, and Northrend.
- Veteran Animal Keeper (this achievement is not required for the Meta achievement)
Obtain the Egg of Columbus, Sleepy Willy, and the Elek Collar. Since you can only get one of the special reward pets per child week, you will have to complete the quests year after year until you finally get the three pets.
A tough school
Completing the achievement, which is probably in the top 10 most hated achievements, requires a lot of patience and luck. Take your orphan to the battlefields and complete the deeds listed below.
- Capture the flag in the eye of the storm
- Attack a tower in Alterac Valley
- Attack a flag in Arathi Basin
- Retrieve a fallen flag in Warsong Gulch
Always make sure that your orphan is by your side. It’s also best to find a well-rehearsed squad with which you can complete the tasks on the battlefields – soloists will have some problems without support. Often enough, however, the opposing factions support each other, for example in the tower capture in Alterac. If you see an enemy patiently reclaiming a tower for you to fulfill the requirement, don’t immediately beat them up out of gratitude. For all PvP players who are not interested in Children’s Week: Be prepared for a chaotic week.
Long live the king, little one
Kill King Ymiron in Tower Utgarde while your orphan is at it. The final boss of the Utgarde Tower instance is no longer a challenge in Pandaria times, even for level 90 soloists.
More tips for the achievements:
Tigules and Foror’s Strawberry Ice Cream : You need the ice cream not only for the quest “Delicious Ice Cream”, but also for the achievement “Bad Role Model” – conveniently, the ice cream comes in a pack of five at the merchant. You can find vendors for the treat in the following locations:
- Orgrimmar: Horde players can visit Alowicious Czervik, who is halfway between the Auction House and the Bank of Orgrimmar.
- Stormwind: Alliance members will visit Emmithue Smails, who is waiting for customers between the Mailbox and the Tavern outside the Bank of Stormwind.
- Thousand Needles: Regardless of your faction, you can also seek out Longnose in the Shimmering Plains of Thousand Needles. The little gnome stays on a small dock south of the Great Lake (coordinates: 69.85).
- Tasty Tartlet
The recipe for the Delicious Cupcakes is only available as loot from enemies in Northrend or, if you’re lucky, from the reward bag for the Cooking quest. However, you can only loot it from enemies once you have reached a cooking skill of at least 350. The ingredients you need are two conventional flours and one northern egg. You can buy the flour from any cooking or crafting merchant for a few coppers. The Northern Eggs, on the other hand, you have to get yourself from the birds of Northrend. For example, aaskondors in the Borean Tundra, imperial eagles in the Grizzly Hills, or bloodclaw rocs in the Sholazar Basin have a particularly high drop chance. You can also look up other Northern Egg loot opportunities in our database.
Delicious Chocolate Cake : To get the recipe for Delicious Chocolate Cake, you must complete the daily cooking dailies in Dalaran (Horde start at: Awilo Lon’gomba; Alliance start at: Katherine Lee) and Shattrath (start at: The Rokk). With luck, the recipe will be in the reward bin of the cooking quest. Some of the ingredients for the cake you can buy from the merchant, and some you’ll have to farm yourself or visit the auction house.
You can purchase common flour and mild spices from any cooking supply store. You can buy ice-cold milk from an innkeeper in Kalimdor or the Eastern Kingdoms. You can buy the flask of Stormwind Port Wine from various wine merchants. We recommend Sarah Brady in Dalaran, located in the Circle of Powers in the Dalaran Sewers. You can find a complete list of vendors in our database. For the last two ingredients, a Small Egg and Magus King Herb , you will need to either farm yourself or visit the Auction House. Small Eggs can be found in the following locations, depending on your faction:
- Alliance: In Westfall there are a lot of large flesh rippers, which have a fairly high probability of carrying the eggs.
- Horde: At the gates of Silvermoon, the Wild and Mad Dragonhawks are a good place to farm. Not only do they have a particularly high drop chance for small eggs, but they are also found in large numbers. Alternatively, you can kill the wiry swoopers in Mulgore.
- You can find more farm locations in our database.
Magus King Herb can only be collected by players who have learned Herb Lore as a profession. If you do not have a character with this profession, you will either have to ask a friendly flower picker to bring you some of these herbs, or invest some gold in the auction house.

Getting Started
All players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time on their accounts have access to WoW Classic at no additional cost.
- Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the menu.
- Select World of Warcraft Classic from the Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second Account drop-down list. In this column, select the active account you want to play with.
- Click the Install button. The progress bar will tell you when your game is ready to play.
- Click the Play button when the installation is complete.
You will need to select the realm you want to play on from several different realm types. Make sure you choose the same realm as your friends – in World of Warcraft Classic, you can only group with characters that are on the same realm as you!
