WoW – Guide: The Terrace of Magisters (Heroic)

WoW - Guide: The Terrace of Magisters (Heroic)The Terrace of Magisters on Quel’Danas can be played in both normal and heroic mode. In our WoW guide you will find all the necessary information about the Terrace of Magisters (Heroic) and the fight against the corrupted Kael’thas.

Access to Heroic Mode:

In the house directly at the port of Quel’Danas in WoW Burning Crusade you will find Exarch Larethor. He will give you the task of finding the missing spy Tyrith in the Magisters’ Terrace. This spy – or better, what’s left of him – is located shortly after the first boss. Tyrith orders you to take a look into the big sphere on the balcony. After that, you’ll have to defeat Kael’thas to be able to play the instance in heroic mode. Of course, you’ll need a tank and a healer for this endeavor. Since the instance is full of trash mobs and the third boss is quite unpleasant, it’s best to choose classes with enemy control abilities as damage dealers.

The defense is already at the start

Once you arrive in the instance, some blood elves will soon appear and try to prevent you from advancing. Most of the time they are groups of four, consisting of blood knights, magic guards, magisters, healers or warlocks. Which one you kill first, and which one you temporarily disable, is up to you. The magisters and warlocks deal a lot of magic damage, but die quite quickly. The warlock also has a companion at his side – an imp or a succubus. If you have a warlock with you, he will take care of the demons. If there is no warlock on board, kill the companions first.

Unpleasant guards

WoW - Guide: The Terrace of Magisters (Heroic)The mage guards are very unpleasant – they occasionally throw around a blade that knocks all players to the ground. This interrupts your spells, which is especially annoying to healers. They also occasionally cast a shield in an area around them and take less damage as a result. Pull them out of its area of effect. The healers cast a Prayer of Mending and give the tank an injection of poison. However, that’s all they have to offer and they are not the most difficult opponents. Last but not least, you will encounter Blood Knights, whose Holy Light heals the Blood Elves. They also cast a sigil on the respective tank, which does additional damage. In the following room there are Driven Ones, which you’d better not fight with area damage despite their number. They mostly use melee attacks or Frostbolts, which only make the tanks smile. Kill the enemies selectively until only Selin Fireheart stands in your way.

Selin Fireheart

The fight against Selin is similar to the one against Warlord Kalithresh, the final boss of the Steam Chamber. Tank the boss and do lots of damage. After a while, Selin runs to one of the green crystals and drains energy from it. Destroy the crystal before Fireheart can drain it completely and then turn back to the boss. He uses the mana gained from the crystals for a “Mana Explosion” that damages the entire party. Occasionally Selin will cast “Bloodsuck” on the tank, this ability can be interrupted or removed by priests.

Abilities:

  • Tap Mana: Drains energy from a nearby crystal, regenerating the boss’s mana supply by 10 percent with each tick. The more energy drained from the crystal, the stronger Fireheart becomes. Occurs when Fireheart has depleted its mana.
  • Mana Explosion: Occurs after “Tap Mana” and deals 1,000 points of damage to all players. Uses up 10% of Selin’s mana.
  • Bloodsuck: Drains life from a player and heals Fireheart. Can be interrupted.
  • Mana Eyes: Drains mana from a player. Can be interrupted.

Princess Delrissa

The fight against Priestess Delrissa is a bit more difficult compared to the previous two bosses. She has four randomly selected minions at her side. It’s best to eliminate all the trash mobs in her room first, as you can use a lot of space for the fight. With the exception of the priestess, all enemies have about 30,000 hit points. The fight resembles an arena battle – no opponent is tankable. Therefore, you must knock out as many enemies as possible to avoid taking the full damage potential. The order in which you take out the enemies ultimately depends on your party composition and Delrissa’s entourage. She herself gives you the Shadow Word: Pain and heals her comrades.

Priestess Delrissa’s companions:

  • Apoko: Apoko is a shaman, he attacks with shocks, heals his comrades and removes your buffs. He also provides various supporting totems.
  • Erama’s Beacon: This blood elf warrior attacks with two fist weapons. In addition to his high melee damage, he can also stun for a short time, as well as interrupt spells.
  • Ellry’s Twilight Harrier: This warlock is assisted by an Imp. She attacks with Shadow Lightning and Seeds of Corruption. She also puts the fear of God into your teammates.
  • Garaxxas: This demonic hunter annoys you with a frost trap and his shots. His animal companion is also at his side, of course. Sorcerers can banish him.
  • Kagani Night Strike: The rogue Kagani is one of the most annoying enemies. He uses all sorts of rogue abilities like kidney punch, kick and solar plexus, his poisons and disappearance should not please you either. He’s one of the candidates you’ll definitely want to take out by transforming or fearing.
  • Warlord Salaris: The Warrior Salaris is notable for his high melee damage and Deadly Strike. He likes to charge around and teaches you fear with his Drohruf.
  • Yazzai: The mage uses Frostbolt, a Frost Nova, Blizzard, and transforms random teammates of yours. Occasionally he saves himself in the ice block.
  • Zelfan: Zelfan is a goblin engineer and uses all sorts of toys against you. His inventory includes exploding sheep, rockets, and a fire cannon. He is also demonic in nature and is therefore a meal ticket for sorcerers.

Vexallus

WoW - Guide: The Terrace of Magisters (Heroic)In the fight with Vexallus you need a lot of overview. In addition, your healer is especially challenged here. Vexallus releases two companions called Pure Energy every few seconds. These die after just one hit and leave a debuff called Energy Return on the player who kills them. This debuff stacks and does 300 damage per stack every second. It also deals 50 percent more damage per stack. If you ignore the Pure Energy, they will begin dealing devastating area damage within a very short time… and you’ll be kicking the bucket. Therefore, divide two players to take care of the energy.

One of them is preferably the tank, who builds up a higher threat with the energy return. Also, the healer has to take care of the tank and the second player almost exclusively. By the way, you can remove the debuff with spells like God Shield, Ice Block or Cloak of Shadows. When Vexallus reaches 20% of his hit points, he overloads and deals area damage. Here, your damage dealers give it their all once again to finish him off for good.

:

  • Overcharge: Overcharge with arcane energy. This regularly creates arcane explosions that damage nearby allies.
  • Energy Bolt: If the Pure Energy does not die in time, it will bombard the entire party with bolts of lightning that do about 3,000 arcane damage.
  • Energy Return: This stackable debuff is given to players who destroy a Pure Energy. This causes them to deal 50% more damage per stack, but they also receive 300 arcane damage per second per stack.

Kael’thas Sun Walker

In addition to his melee hits, Kael’thas also damages the tank with fireballs. You can interrupt these or throw them back with Spell Reflection. The boss will cast the flame blast on a random player. Get out immediately, as the damage can be quite high. After a while, the boss summons a phoenix that deals area damage in its vicinity. Therefore, a ranged fighter will pull him to a safe position. The phoenix kills itself over time, but ranged fighters can quietly speed this up. When it dies, it creates a blast wave and leaves an egg behind. Kill the egg immediately, otherwise a new firebird will emerge from it after a few seconds.

Kill it quickly

WoW - Guide: The Terrace of Magisters (Heroic)If it takes you more than a minute to kill half of his hit points, he will surround himself with a shock barrier. This barrier absorbs 10,000 points of damage and prevents any interrupt effects against spells. Furthermore, he casts a Pyro Strike that deals about 60,000 fire damage after four seconds. Even the strongest tank in the world can only survive this with Shield Wall, so you’ll have to deal more than 10,000 damage within the four seconds, and then interrupt the Pyro Strike.

The second phase

Once the boss is at 50 percent of its hit points, a gravitational loss occurs in the room. All players are catapulted into the air and can then float around freely. During this phase, no phoenix may be alive – otherwise it would take your healer apart. Stay away from the arcane orbs – they do 2,000 points of damage on contact. Also, your healer is needed here, as Kael’thas is constantly dealing damage to all players. During this phase, however, your damage dealers will continue to go after the prince. Just make sure you stay within the range of your healer and don’t touch the orbs. If you touch the ground, you will be catapulted back into the air. After 30 seconds, your state will end and you will return to earth. Kael’thas is now incapacitated for a short time; during this time you will cause him double damage. After a brief respite, however, he will cast Gravity Loss again and the game will continue until the Sun Prince has passed away once and for all.
