In World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the Maraudon instance is still the home of Princess Theradras, daughter of Therazane. There she persistently watches over the grave of her late husband Zaetar. However, before you can chase the princess away from her guard post, there are still a few bosses waiting for you. You can find out what these are and what items they can carry with them in our guide to Maraudon.
Preparation
The entrance to the Maraudon dungeon is west of Desolace, between the mountains north of Shadowrun. A stone door takes you to the tunnel area in front of the instance, which is guarded by Kolkar. Follow the path until the path splits. You now have the choice of entering the purple halls on the left, the orange halls on the right, or the final part of Maraudon down the aisle.
Maraudon – The Treacherous Grotto (purple)
Tinkerer Gizlock (1)
As soon as you enter the dungeon, the instance automatically offers you the task of killing Lord Wormtongue. Follow the path and always keep to the right. After some demonic groups of enemies you will discover an aggressive goblin on the right side. Tinkerer Gizlock is adept at inventing explosive weapons. So he attacks all players who are in front of him with his Goblin Dragon Launcher. The tank therefore turns the goblin away from the group. The tinkerer also likes to throw bombs around. Try to escape from the target area because the bombs deal high damage.
Lord Wormtongue (2)
Follow the path out of the treacherous grotto towards Wormtongue’s Seat. You must fight your way through a series of satyrs, imps, and tree creatures before you reach Wormtongue itself. Keep right, otherwise you could end up in a dead end. When you get to Wormtongue, first eliminate the two shadow stalkers guarding him. In addition to a smoke bomb that stuns all nearby players, he hits the group with some shooting skills. The multi-shot hits a target and everyone who is too close to it – so spread yourself out well in the space available to you. Taking damage will cause the Satyr to blink behind the tank every few seconds. Damage dealers briefly pause their attacks to allow the tank to reattach the lord.
Maraudon – The Rotspore Lair (orange)
Noxion (3)
Again, there is no quest giver at the entrance to the instance. The instance order opens automatically as soon as you have ventured a few steps into the dungeon. In this area you will mainly encounter plants and poisonous slimes. If you encounter a group of glowing green mudders, you must be careful. Kill them with ranged attacks or spells. But don’t get too close to them, because they cause a lot of damage. When you get to the larva spouter, the tank will pull all the larvae towards it while one member of your party kills the spitter. A little further down the path into the large cave, you are already faced with Noxxion, your next big opponent. Noxxion repeatedly throws the tank into the air with an uppercut, spreading a poison effect that deals Nature damage every 3 seconds. Periodically, it dissipates and splits into several smaller enemies. Kill them before Noxxion returns.
Climber (4)
Only a short section of the tunnel, a few larvae and groups of plants later, you are faced with the last boss of this section. Climbingroot doesn’t have very many skills against you. Due to its split ability, the tank turns the boss away from the group. The healer supplies the bleeding effect on the tank with sufficient healing. In addition, Schlingwurzler can strike very quickly in between with the ability to hit.
Celebras the Cursed (5)
You can defeat Celebras the Cursed either as the first boss of the last part or as the last boss of the first two sections of Maraudon. However, the quickest way to reach it is from the waterfalls. Face north and take the passage to the left. You can now fight Celebras and his Treants without fighting any opponents. The druid wreaks havoc on the tank with rage attacks while summoning more and more corrupted forces of nature. Kill the tree opponents so you don’t get overrun. Celebras will occasionally root and damage a random target. When you are in the Twisted Serenity area of effect, you attempt to escape from that area.
Landslide (6)
Jump down the falls and move to the south end of the cave. Continue along the path and watch out for patrolling groups of stone elementals. You will also encounter Dimetrodons, which cast an unpleasant silence effect on nearby players. First keep left until the path splits after a small bridge. Turn right and keep climbing until you come to Landslide, a giant rock creature. Landslide repeatedly stuns your entire party while summoning additional stone elementals. As soon as you can move again, eliminate them. In addition, the boss repeatedly hits the tank far away. In order not to be accidentally pushed into the depths, the tank stands with its back to a wall.
Princess Theradras (7)
At the bridge where the path splits, continue straight ahead and follow the path to Zaetar’s Tomb, the seat of Princess Theradras. The princess repeatedly casts a dust field, which pushes the entire group back further and further. Be careful not to get knocked down the falls. Occasionally she will hit the tank several times in rapid succession with hacks, which your healer must be prepared for. Also, be prepared to be terrified by Theradra’s repulsive stares several times.
