What the achievement is about
The Advanced Study achievement requires you to read the eight listed editions of the Schools of Arcane Magic, with each book occupying a specific slot. Sounds simple, but it has its pitfalls: The books disappear three minutes after the first reading and don’t reappear for three to four hours. As if that weren’t enough, there can also be “losers”, books that have nothing to do with success.
Tips for a successful study
The requirements for this success are above all a lot of time, patience
and a good portion of luck. To make it a little easier for you, check your server to see if there is a chat channel for players who want to go book hunting in Dalaran. If there is no such channel yet, join up with friends or guild members and open the “Higher Education” channel, for example (command in the chat line: /join Higher Education). Exchange information there with other players about where the latest books have been published. Three to four hours after a book is spotted in one place, another one appears in that place. This way you can limit the waiting time to one hour per possible publication location. But even with this tactic, you’ll need a lot of patience,
Saving the best for last
Of course, your efforts will not go unrewarded. When you have read all the books, you will receive the book “The Schools of Arcane Magic – Mastery” and, of course, the achievement “Advanced Studies” in the mail. Use it to be teleported to the towers above the Violet Citadel. Once you reach the top, an old acquaintance from Netherstorm is already waiting for you: archmage Vargoth. Talk to him and you will receive a “Kirin Tor Familiar”, a small arcane wraith, as a pet. By the way: Since there is no exit for this room, you can also teleport back to Dalaran with the book “The Schools of Arcane Magic – Mastery”.
What is WoW Classic?
World of Warcraft Classic is a true recreation of the original WoW as you know it from 2006. All parts of the game – from combat mechanics and talent trees to character models and zones – have been recreated, contributing to the authentic experience.
Getting Started
All players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time on their accounts have access toWoW Classic at no additional cost.
- Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the menu.
- Select World of Warcraft Classic from the Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second Account drop-down list. In this column, select the active account you want to play with.
- Click the Install button. The progress bar will tell you when your game is ready to play.
- Click the Play button when the installation is complete.
You will need to select the realm you want to play on from several different realm types. Make sure you choose the same realm as your friends – in World of Warcraft Classic, you can only group with characters that are on the same realm as you!
