The first and easiest instance is available for players from level 66 and takes you on a grandiose adventure in the foothills of the old hills country, where you have to free none other than the orc leader Thrall in the Durnholde Castle internment camp. As in all instances of the Caverns of Time, you acquire reputation points there for the faction: Keepers of Time .

The pre-quest thing

Access to the instance is only granted to those who have previously completed a guided tour through the caves in Tanaris. This starts with the folder of time right at the entrance of the cave system. Important: sit down before you speak to the steward, otherwise you will miss the free flight on a golden dragon. After landing, Andormu awaits you in a magical glowing red circle. The tour through the actual caves of time begins with her. Once this is complete, you may enter the first instance (The Old Hillsbrad). You can take the corresponding quest with you from Andormu. An optimal group consists of the mage, warrior, priest, warlock, and rogue classes. This allows you to make the best use of their crowd control skills.

Bomb atmosphere in the castle

Erozion awaits you shortly after the instance entrance . Important: Each group member must speak to Erozion and take incendiary devices with them. Brazen, the golden dragon, will only bring you directly to the gate of Durnholde Castle for free if you also have the incendiary devices in your pocket. The way through the internment camp turns out to be very linear, getting lost is almost impossible. Important, especially for fast groups, is to keep an eye on the patrols. Their walkways always lead behind the barracks, so that they are easily overlooked and then surprise you at the most inopportune moment.

The enemies in focus

At the beginning of the instance, there are two guards that can be taken care of quickly and easily. If there is a mage or rogue in the party, one of them will be forced to take a TRANSFORM or HEADBUT while the party takes care of the other guard. Patrols always consist of a guard and a guard dog (both level 68, elite). Recommendation: watch the patrol and kill the guards first, this will save some nerves for the healer in the group. As soon as you attack the guards in front of the barracks, at least two more will rush out of the hut to prevent your plan. However, the most dangerous for the group are the snipers. Their scattered shot will make the ranged run uncontrollably into groups of enemies that are still uninvolved.

Cleaning up the castle

After the barracks are on fire and Lieutenant Drach is on the ground, make your way to the hold of Thrall’s Liberation. You will find him locked up in the basement of the castle. The first group, consisting of at least four enemies, is waiting for you in front of the entrance to the citadel. The enemies will become dangerous only if your group does not manage to eliminate the magically gifted enemies beforehand. Besides TRANSFORMATION (which mostly affects your healer), their specialty is also healing their own fellows. Tip: Clean the first floor of the Citadel thoroughly before going to Thrall in the basement.

For the Horde

At Thrall’s place, you’ll hand in the first quest of the instance. Important: You can only approach Thrall if you have torched all the barracks first. Everyone in the party must turn in the quest before a team member talks to Thrall again to free him from prison. Important: At least one party member must talk to Thrall to start or continue the escort mission, the rest of the party can regenerate in the meantime or prepare for the next fight at the castle entrance. Once Thrall storms out of the cell, the group has no time for regeneration breaks – Thrall purposefully finds every enemy on the way to the castle gate. Therefore, you’ll have to take a longer rest to strengthen and drink before freeing him. Although Thrall has a lot of health, he won’t get far without your help. Healing and mana potions are extremely helpful at this stage, and your mage’s TRANSFORMATION of magic-gifted enemies from groups is essential here. Shortly before the gate Thrall stops and you finally have time for the necessary rest. This is also urgently needed, because in front of the gate is already waiting the second boss of the instance, Captain Skarloc , together with two companions. (See the sidebar “Captain Skarloc”).

The way to the Tarren Mill

The captain kindly provides us with his charger, which Thrall will use to continue the journey to Tarren Mill. The sporadic patrols (always three guards) do not pose much of a problem. Below the village, Thrall will wait for another team member to talk to you. Use the break to fully recover, the next groups of enemies (four groups of two guards and a warlock each in the barn, the church, the inn and the second floor of the inn) come in quick succession, again without a break for regeneration. Once you finish off the group on the second floor, Thrall waits for you to be approached again. This begins the surrounding the final boss of the instance. (See the box “The Epoch Hunter”).

The best at the end

Important. In the individual sections of the escort mission, Thrall must always start the fight, otherwise the event will not continue – this problem should be fixed with patch 2.1 at the latest. By the way, Blizzard has not only introduced the intact Durnholde Castle with the instance, but also Süderstade and Tarren’s Mill are available. Especially the town of Süderstade invites you to linger and marvel, here the celebrities, for example High Inquisitor Whitemane from the Scarlet Monastery, Naxxrama’s end boss Khel’Thuzad in human form or fishing master Nat Pagle, have a rendezvous. You will also find merchants and the possibility to have your equipment repaired.

Lieutenant Dragon
The first boss of the instance appears at the wooden stairs once all 5 incendiaries have been set and the barracks are on fire. He runs from there to the last barracks. It is best to catch him under the bridge. Drach is a warrior class and only attacks in melee. As soon as he uses THREAT, the ranged fighters and healers must pause their actions until the tank gets aggro again, otherwise Drach will harass the ranged fighters with DEATH BLOW and spontaneous fireballs. Despite his thick health cushion, he is an easy opponent if the cloth bearers position themselves at a sufficient distance from him. This way, only the tank will get caught by his attacks.

Abilities:

Normal attack: 1300 damage

Special Attacks:

THREAT – the tank is paralyzed and all enemies within 10 meters flee. The lieutenant resets the aggro.

WHIRLWIND: 1800 damage – The lieutenant announces the whirlwind by shouting, melee fighters dodge the attack by taking two steps back.

DEADLY : 2200 damage

FIRE BALL: 3000 damage

Hamstring – The movement speed of the person hit is reduced by 50 percent for 15 seconds.

Captain Scarloc
The Captain himself is not a tough nut to crack, but in combination with his two companions (Durnholde Veteran and Durnholde Warden) he is a tough hurdle. Skarloc is a paladin, the overseer is a priest. Both heal the party regularly, the Warden destroys your party game with Psychic Scream. However, the healing spells can be interrupted (Shield Bang, Kick). The recommended tactic for the group is to separate the Warden (so Thrall doesn’t hit him) and transform. The veteran is the first target, then the overseer and finally the captain. Important: If the Warden’s transformation ends prematurely, he must be your first target and go down as quickly as possible. He and Captain Skarloc will heal themselves and the party back up.

Skills:

Melee Attack: 1100 damage

BLOCK: Increases Skarloc’s block value by 30 percent for 10 seconds and reflects 450 Holy damage.

HOLY LIGHT: Heals himself or his allies for 6000 points.

PYCHIC SCREAM: () causes all nearby attackers to flee uncontrollably.

The Epoch Hunter
The big ending comes at the end. The Epoch Hunter and his companions demand all the skills of the group. After talking to Thrall again, the Epoch Hunter will appear in the Tarren Mill. Stand right in front of the church here. Before you can attack him, three groups of three level 67-68 elite Dragonkins (two melee, one ranged) will attack you in succession. The first group will attack from the front, the second from the left and the third again from the front. Tactical tip: The tank pulls the last remaining dragonkin to the spawn point of the next group. This saves him the walk and he can quickly deal with the new group. The team is in combat the whole time, so if a team member falls, only a druid can revive him.

The Epoch Hunter himself attacks when the last Dragonkin is in the dust. The dragon must be tanked away from the party so that they do not suffer from its special attacks. The epoch hunter also applies the curse DEATH UNCONDITIONALLY to a random party member, dealing 750 damage every 3 seconds for 15 seconds.

Skills:

Melee attack: 1500 damage

SANDATEM: 2000 damage that comes from the dragon’s head, reducing attack and movement speed by 50% for 10 seconds.

Getting Started

All players with an active World of Warcraft subscription or game time on their accounts have access toWoW Classic at no additional cost.

  1. Open the Blizzard Battle.net Desktop App and select World of Warcraft from the menu.
  2. Select World of Warcraft Classic from the Version menu. If you have more than one World of Warcraft account, you’ll see a second Account drop-down list. In this column, select the active account you want to play with.
  3. Click the Install button. The progress bar will tell you when your game is ready to play.
  4. Click the Play button when the installation is complete.

You will need to select the realm you want to play on from several different realm types. Make sure you choose the same realm as your friends – in World of Warcraft Classic, you can only group with characters that are on the same realm as you!
