WoW Guide: Class Guide for Restoration Druids in WoW: Cataclysm (as of patch 4.0.6)

Restoration Druids are the kings of heal-over-time. This makes them desirable, but also ensures a very unique way of playing. In our updated class guide based on patch 4.0.6 you will learn what is important for the part-time saplings.

Who doesn’t know the affectionate nicknames “Bäumchen” and “Resto”? Who hasn’t raised their leg with an emote to relieve themselves next to such a “little tree”? Yes, restoration druids don’t have it easy. The oversized Treants are considered enormously strong group healers. Thanks to their powerful over-time heals, they are a perfect complement to the heals of priests, shamans, and paladins. In this detailed guide, we will you how to get the best out of your druid healer with the current WoW: Cataclysm expansion. We will explain to you which skill is particularly strong in the raids, which basics beginners should consider and also show you the secrets of patch 4.0. 1 introduced reforging and the new glyph system. Finally, we focus on your way towards level 85 and tell you whether you can safely walk through the new zones in Azeroth with a recovery skill.

The Cataclysm is Here – What’s New?

The new skills

With the WoW expansion Cataclysm, your warrior can finally level up to the new maximum level of 85. Along the way, you will learn some new skills from the teacher:

 Stirring Roar  Level 83
Requires Cat Form or Bear Form

Instant – 2 minute cooldown

The Druid roars, increasing the movement speed of all friendly players within 10 yards by 40% for 6 sec.

Conclusion: Sure, it’s unusual to switch into cat or bear form in the middle of a fight just to use a single ability. But especially in the moments when all players in the raid have to switch to a certain position at lightning speed – for example to avoid a deadly damage effect – the goading roar is worth its weight in gold and saves lives. Only the rather small radius of action could still increase a little.

 Wild Mushroom – Level 85

0.5 second

cast Grows a magic mushroom with 5 health at the target location. After 6 seconds, the mushroom becomes invisible. When triggered by the druid, all mushrooms explode, dealing 1 damage to all enemies within yards. Only 3 mushrooms can be placed at a time.

Use Wild Mushroom: Detonate to detonate all mushrooms.

Conclusion: The new druid gimmick wild mushrooms doesn’t really help you, but it’s a way for you to intervene in the events on the side. You also have another damage spell available on solo paths.
